The Tibet autonomous region plans to have 4,000 kilometers of rail lines by 2025 and eventually connect all its 55 counties and districts by rail, according to the region's Development and Reform Commission. The region will expand and improve the quality of its railway network so that rail coverage in the region sees significant growth, and the contribution of railways to local economies and social development is further strengthened.
The rail network plan for the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period and beyond was released recently by the commission. By 2025, the construction of several railway projects, including the Ya'an-Nyingchi(林芝) section of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway, the Shigatse(日喀则)-Pakhuktso section of the Xinjiang-Tibet Railway and the Bomi-Ra'uk section of the Yunnan-Tibet Railway, will all see major progress, according to the plan. Other key projects include the electrification(电气化) of the existing Qinghai-Tibet Railway and upgrading the double-track railways of the Pakhuktso-Hetian line of the Xinjiang-Tibet Railway.
The region's rail network will reach 4,000 km by 2025 and 5,000 km by 2035. A comprehensive railway network linking Lhasa, the regional capital, to neighboring provinces will also be formed by 2035.
Hampered by geological and technical challenges, construction of railway lines in Tibet has always lagged behind the rest of the country, with the region currently having only three rail lines in operation and the combined length of the tracks is 1,359 km. With a length of 435km and a top speed of 160 km, the Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway is the first electric railway in Tibet, which is a part of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway.
Yang Hao, a professor at Beijing Jiaotong University, said more railway projects are planned to link Tibet with neighboring provinces. "Once these new rail lines become operational, more cities in the region will be accessed by rail services to cities in northwestern and southwestern China, and more railways will be facilitated along the border ports," he said, "It is of great value in contributing to the region's economic development, transportation upgrade and ethnic(民族的) unity," Yang said.

Living with aphasia(失语症) has been compared to living in a country where you don't speak the language. All of a sudden, you can't express thoughts and feelings as you once could, and if it is progressive, you are feeling it slip away gradually.
A famous actor, Bruce Willis, retired from a four-decade acting career after an aphasia diagnosis(诊断), which has put the disorder in the spotlight. People living with aphasia say they hope his diagnosis will lead to better understanding of a frustrating, isolating condition that affects about 2 million Americans. "How many people have ever heard of aphasia? Pitifully few. Willis' diagnosis has already sparked a surge of interest in the condition," said Darlene Williamson, president of the National Aphasia Association.
Aphasia is not a cognitive(认知的) disorder and doesn't affect intelligence. Most frequently triggered by strokes or other brain injuries, the condition makes it hard to speak or find the proper words and understand what is said or written, leading to shame, embarrassment and frustration.
For patients whose aphasia is brought on by slow progression rather than a stroke, an early warning sign is often having trouble finding a word. They are forced to stop mid-sentence and search for what should come next. That type of aphasia, called primary progressive, is understudied, in part because people are afraid to go to the doctor when they start experiencing warning signs.
"Early diagnosis and intervention are key so patients can start language therapy and develop a system of communication for when speech eventually fails." Williamson said. With good medical care and speech therapy, most patients should see some improvement. However, "No matter what the cause of aphasia, there is no cure. We never talk in terms of a cure. We talk in terms of living successfully and returning to participation in life. Finding out how to keep an individual with aphasia supported in the community in which they have always lived is essential," Williamson added.
8、What does the author want to show by mentioning Bruce Willis?
    A. Bruce had a successful acting career.
    B. People pay little attention to aphasia.
    C. Too many people are leading a frustrating life.
    D. Bruce has a good understanding of the disorder.
9、What is paragraph 3 mainly about?
    A. Aphasia's diagnosis and treatment. B. Aphasia's triggers and prevention.
    C. Aphasia's definition and origin. D. Aphasia's causes and effects.
10、Which is one of the reasons why primary progressive is not studied enough?
    A. Fearing to see a doctor. B. Taking the disease lightly.
C.Failing to notice its early signs. D. Having trouble communicating.
11、What does Williamson say about aphasia?
    A. Early diagnosis contributes a lot to its cure.
    B. Community's support is the key to the patients.
    C. A full recovery is possible with medical support.
    D. People with aphasia will never live successfully.
Without cracking a single textbook, without spending a day in medical school, the co-author of a preprint study correctly answered enough questions that it would have passed the real US Medical Licensing Examination. But the test-taker wasn't a member of Mensa or a medical specialist; it was the artificial intelligence ChatGPT. The tool, which was created to answer user questions in a conversational manner, has generated so much buzz that doctors and scientists are trying to determine what its limitations are and what it could do for health and medicine.
The medical licensing exam is generally considered one of the toughest of any profession because it not only tests basic science, medical knowledge, but also assesses clinical reasoning, ethics(道德观念), critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
The AI passed all the parts of the exam without any specialized training, showing a high level of insight in its explanations. This greatly impressed Dr. Victor Tseng, a medical director of the California-based group and a co-author of the study. "Googling the answer is very difficult," he explained. "Because there're a lot of red herrings on the Internet. It might take hours to get an accurate answer." But ChatGPT was able to do it within five seconds.
The results of the medical licensing exam study were even written up with the help of ChatGPT. However, the journal Nature created guidelines that said no such program could be credited as an author because "any authorship carries with it accountability for the work, and AI tools cannot take such responsibility." Actually, AI is only as good as the information it's fed, and with so much inaccurate information available online about things like Covid-19 vaccines, it could use that to generate inaccurate results.
Tseng said he ultimately thinks ChatGPT can enhance medical practice, but won't replace doctors. Tseng's group will continue to test it to learn why it creates certain errors and what other ethical factors need to be put in place before using it for real.
"AI is here. The doors are open," Tseng said. "I firmly believe that it will actually make me and make us as physicians and providers better."
12、What can ChatGPT possibly do according to paragraph 1?
    A. Study in medical school. B. Start an online conversation.
    C. Conduct a study independently. D. Pass a challenging examination.
13、What does underlined words "red herrings" in paragraph 3 refer to?
    A. Appealing topics. B. Efficient helpers.
    C. Hidden resources. D. Distracting facts.
14、According to Nature, ChatGPT can't be listed as an author because _____.
    A. it has invented all the data based on inaccurate information
    B. it doesn't actively create and is not responsible for the work
    C. it doesn't have a bank account and can't receive payment
    D. it has failed to demonstrate problem-solving skills
15、What is Tseng's attitude towards the future of ChatGPT?
A.Interested yet doubtful. B. Disinterested and calm.
C.Confident yet cautious. D. Critical and disappointed.

In a bustling city where people rushed from one place to another, John, a seasoned taxi driver, had spent most of his day ferrying passengers from one destination to another. Suddenly, it started pouring. He was crossing a corner when he noticed a mother with a child in her arms get out of a taxi. Instead of walking into the building nearby, she stood in the rain on the sidewalk, looking anxious and worried. He pulled up beside them and rolled down the window.
"Can I help you, ma'am?" he asked, his voice warm and friendly.
The mother turned to him pleading, "Thank you so much. My 6-year-old son Ivan suddenly has a fever and is having difficulty breathing now. I need to get him to the hospital right away."
John suddenly realized that she was just refused by another taxi driver. Unwilling to leave them stranded in the middle of a crisis, John said, "Get in my taxi. I'll take you to hospital."
He swung open the door and helped the boy into the backseat. "Don't worry, ma'am. I'll get you there as fast as I can," he said, his eyes meeting hers in the rearview mirror.
As he drove, John could feel the boy's body trembling. He could hear the mother's whispered prayers and the sound of her hands clasping together tightly. He knew he had to act fast. Despite the urgency of the situation, Carl remained calm and composed, skillfully weaving through traffic and red lights. A few minutes later, they arrived at the hospital, and Ivan was rushed inside for treatment.
Half an hour later, the boy was out of danger. "It was lucky that you made it here in time," said the doctor. "Thank you, thank you so much," the woman said, her voice choked with emotion. She then turned to John, fishing in her pocket for cash to pay him. "I have a principle: No fare for those making trips to hospital!" John refused, and quickly left.

Y4“...you will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Cambridge.”可知在第四年你就可以得到a Bachelor of Arts degree,故选C。
根据How to Apply这段,“If you wish to apply to the programme, please first apply to HKU's Faculty(院系) of Engineering...Following your admission to the Faculty of Engineering, you can apply to enter this programme.”
根据第二段“Other key projects include the electrification of the existing Qinghai-Tibet Railway”说明在2025年前,会对现存的青藏铁路电气化升级。 由“the Bomi-Ra'uk section of the Yunnan-Tibet Railway, will all see major progress, according to the plan.”
    7、答案:A
根据第二段中,“People living with aphasia say they hope his diagnosis will lead to better understanding of a frustrating, isolating condition.”以及“How many people have ever he and of aphasia? Pitifully few. Willis' diagnosis has already sparked a surge of interest in the condition,”由此可知,人们对失语症了解很少,所以提及Bruce Willis引起人们的关注。
    10、答案:A
根据第四段最后一句,“That type of aphasia, called primary progressive, is understudied, in part because people are afraid to go to the doctor when they start experiencing warning signs.” 故选择A。
根据最后一段最后一句,“Finding out how to keep an individual with aphasia supported in the community in which they have always lived is essential”找出方法,让失语症患者能够在他们居住的社区中获得支持,这才是最重要的事。
根据第一段内容,“The co-author of a preprint study correctly answered enough practice questions that it would has passed the real US Medical Licensing Examination.”以及第二段的第一句“The medical licensing exam is generally considered one of the toughest of any profession...”,故选择D。
根据“Coogling the answer is very difficult,” he explained. “Because there're a lot of red herrings on the Internet. It might take hours to get an accurate answer.”
在文章第四段中作者解释道原因是,“any authorship carries with it accountability for the work, and AI tools cannot take such responsibility.” Actually, AI is only as good as the information it's fed,...
根据文章的最后一段,“Tseng's group will continue to test it to learn why it creates certain errors and what other ethical factors need to be put in place before using it for real.”以及“I firmly believe that it will actually make me and make us as physicians and providers better.”
G选项承接上句,“you may encounter different kinds of people”,以及引出下面的具体的“unexpected benefits”。
因此“Start a sideline that does.”, “does”代指的就是“...that matches your passion.”。
解析:由后文“she didn't want her White daughter seeing a Black man”可知她妈妈反对他们在一起。

    22、答案:D
解析:由下文“Jeanne was afraid of taking that next step”可知,这下 步是结婚。

“on the first day of Chinese Lunar New Year”为具体的时间,与一般过去时搭配。
    Protecting Our Blue Planet
Good morning, everyone! It is such a privilege to stand here to share with you my perspectives on the ocean. As the cradle of life, oceans nurture thousands of creatures and provide us with abundant seafood and energy. However, the ocean is facing threats.
Definitely, pollution is the one that threatens the ocean most. For decades the ocean has been used as a receptacle for industrial toxins. Plus, overfishing has posed a threat to the fragile biosphere of the ocean.
To tackle the crisis, joint efforts from all countries are needed, from establishing related policies to promoting people’s awareness. Besides, we students can do our part by reducing disposable plastics, which are a great contributing factor to the degradation of the ocean.
In conclusion, for a sustainable future, we should care for the ocean. Together we can make a difference. Thank you.
Many years later, 63-year-old John was going to hospital for some tests. His taxi driving career had come to an end owing to some health issues. Cold and distressed, he was waiting by the roadside when a taxi pulled up. He hopped in and told the driver to drop him off at the hospital in the city center. "Alright, sir!" the driver replied cheerfully, bringing him a sense of warmth. 'They didn't talk much in the car. When they arrived, John suddenly realized he had no cash with him and thus couldn't pay for the fare. "Sir, you don't have to pay me. All trips I make to hospital are free!" the young driver said with absolute certainty.
"Free trips to hospital? But why?" John asked in surprise. "When I was little, I had a seizure. An angle in disguise drove me to hospital for free when my life was at stake. His kindness inspired me to pay it forward." the young driver explained. It was not until then that John noticed the young driver's name on the dashboard—Ivan Toney. By pure coincidence, their paths crossed again. John realized that his act of kindness had come full circle, and that the good he had done had found its way back to him. "Thank you," John said, "Virtue is its own reward."
