All through grade school, I got extra help with schoolwork. If I got a D, I was very happy. If I got a C-minus (C-), I had achieved greatness. A’s and B’s were a kingdom I could never enter.
Once my teacher, Miss Mills, had given me a list of ten spelling words. My mother and I went over the list until I knew those words. I felt great. I thought, “Wow! This time, I’m going to pass.” The next day, I went into the classroom and began to write down the words. The first word was carpet. I wrote that one down: c-a-r-p-e-t. I was feeling pretty confident. Then came neighbor — I wrote down the letter n. Then rhythm — I knew there was an r. Suburban — I wrote s-u-b. My confidence failed me. I had gone from 100 percent to maybe a D-minus. Where did the words go?
Some people talk about information sliding off your brain. That was my life. I was an underachiever (未能充分发挥学习潜力者).
Now I know I have dyslexia (诵读困难症). A person with dyslexia might see the as teh, and bird as brid. My brain learns differently. A learning disability can really change the way you feel about yourself. Now I know that even if I learn differently, I can still be filled with greatness.
Today when I visit schools as an actor, director, and co-author of children’s books, I tell children that everyone has something special inside. It’s our job to find out what that is and get it out, and give it to the world as a gift.
66.What’s the writer’s problem in grade school?
A.He had trouble spelling. B.He often got C-minuses.

B.The writer knew he had dyslexia then.
C.The writer felt upset about himself at last.
D.The writer studied hard and passed the test.
68.The underlined phrase “sliding off” in Paragraph 3 probably means _________.
A.coming into B.going through C.moving around D.disappearing from
69.After the writer knew he had dyslexia, he ________.
A.felt very excited B.had more difficulties in study
C.was filled with sadness D.changed his view of himself
70.What would be the best title for the passage?
A.A Change for Sure. B.A Great Underachiever.
C.A Gift from the World. D.A Special Spelling Bee.
C
Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD) (孤独症) is a disability that can cause serious social, communication and behavioral problems. There is often nothing about how people with ASD look that makes them different from other people, but people with ASD may communicate, interact, behave, and learn in ways that are different from most other people. The learning, thinking, and problem-solving abilities of people with ASD can range from pretty good to extremely bad. Some people with ASD need a lot of help in their daily lives; others need less.
People with ASD often have problems with social, emotional, and communication skills. They might repeat certain behaviors and might not want change in their daily activities. Many people with ASD may also have difficulties learning, paying attention, or reacting to things. Signs of ASD begin during early childhood and probably last throughout a person’s life.
Diagnosing (诊断) ASD can be difficult since there is no medical test, like a blood test, to assess the disorders. Doctors look at the child’s behavior and development to make a judgement. ASD can sometimes be diagnosed at 18 months or younger. By age 2, an experienced doctor can be considered very reliable in diagnosing ASD. However, many children may not see a doctor until much older.
There is currently no cure for ASD. However, research shows that early treatment services can improve a child’s development. Early treatment services help children from birth to 3 years old (36 months) learn important skills. Therefore, it is important to talk to your child’s doctor as soon as possible if you think your child has ASD or other developmental problems.
We do not know all of the causes of ASD. However, most scientists agree that genes are one of the highest risk factors that can make a person more likely to develop ASD.
If you think your child might have ASD or you think there could be a problem with the way your child plays, learns, speaks, or acts, contact your child’s doctor, and share your concerns. If you’re not sure who to contact, call the Early Childhood Technical Assistance Center(ECTA) at 919-962-2001. Or visit the ECTA website: //ectacenter.org.
71. Which of the following behaviors may NOT belong to the children or adults with ASD?
A. Repeating actions over and over again.
B. Having trouble expressing their needs.
C. Avoiding eye contact and wanting to be alone.
D. Being happy to make changes.
72. What can we infer from the article?
A. The earlier an ASD kid is diagnosed, the better it is for his (her) treatment.
B. Doctors simply have no way to diagnose an ASD kid at all.
C. Doctors can diagnose ASD by blood testing.
D. Doctors can diagnose ASD with the help of machines.
73. Who is most likely to be an ASD patient of the following people?
A. Someone who prefers to talk a lot in daily life.
B. Someone who has got an ASD brother.
C. Someone who wants to hug you in public.
D. Someone who sings in a strange voice.

第二节判断(本节共5小题;每小题1分,共5分)
请根据下面的短文内容判断下列句子,如果正确就选“T”,如果错误就选“F”,如果文中没有提到就选“N”,并将答案填涂在答题卡上。
Long long ago, there lived a couple who had seven sons. The couple wanted a daughter very much, and finally they had a girl. The couple loved their daughter very much. One day the father needed water for the child, so he sent the seven brothers to a well (井) in the forest to get it. Once there, though, the boys began to fight and the water jug (壶) fell into the well. The boys looked into the well and thought of their father. They were afraid to go home.
Hours passed. “Where are those boys?” shouted the angry father. “They are probably playing a game and have forgotten about the water. I wish they all turned into birds!” And when he looked up, he saw seven black birds flying away. The father was shocked. “What have I done?” he thought. But it was too late. He could not take back his words.
Later, the girl grew up and discovered she had brothers. She decided to find them. Finally, she found their home. To enter, she needed a special key made from a chicken bone (骨头), which she didn’t have. The girl thought for a while, and then took a knife and cut off one of her fingers. With it, she opened the front door and went inside. On a table, there were seven plates and seven cups. She ate and drank a little from each of them. In the last cup, she dropped a ring that her parents had given her.
Later that day, the birds returned for their meal. The girl hid behind the door. When the seventh bird drank from the cup, something hit his mouth. The bird realized it at once—it was their parents’ ring. “I wish our sister were here,” he said. “Then we could be free.” At that moment, their sister ran to them and suddenly the birds were humans again.
76.The seven brothers were afraid to go home at first because they threw away the water jug.
77.The father regretted what he had said after his sons turned into birds.
78.After the girl entered the birds’ room, she sat down and waited for the birds.
79.These birds became humans again after they saw their sister.
80.From the passage we know that we will be happy if we work hard for our dreams.
第三节简答(本节共5小题;每小题2分,共10分)
请根据以下短文内容,回答短文后面的问题,并将答案填写在答题卡上,各题回答词数不得超过10个单词。
How would you feel if your school banned(禁止) phones in class?
In February, the Ministry of Education announced that mobile phones should, in principle(原则上), be banned in primary and secondary schools. This aims to protect students’ eyesight, make sure they focus on their work and prevent them from becoming addicted(上瘾的) to the Internet and online games.
Xu Xiaohe, a 13-year-old from Zhejiang, supports the policy. “In fact, my school has never allowed us to bring our mobile phones,” Xu said. “It’s a distraction from our work. Even adults can’t control themselves, let alone kids like us.”
Li Zihan from Beijing, however, feels differently. The 13-year-old believes that a mobile phone ban is too simplistic for a generation that has grown up with mobile phones. “Students should be taught self-management skills, as well as learn how to use their phones effectively to help with their studies,” Li said. “This might be the best way to deal with technology in modern times.”
For Ge Ziqi, the problem with banning phones has more to do with life outside of school. The 13-year-old Beijinger uses a bike-sharing app every day to travel between her home and school.
“Today, phones are used everywhere, from taking a bus to buying food,” she said. “If I can’t take my phone with me, I’ll have to buy my own bicycle.”
Some schools have come up with ideas to solve problems like Ge’s. At Shanghai Shatian School, for example, students are asked to put their phones in special lockers during school hours. The students call these lockers the “phone farm” (“养机场”) or “phone tarmac” (“停机坪”).
