Althugh they believed the tw intelligent devices had different abilities, children acrss all ages agreed it was wrng t hit r shut at the machines. Hwever, the lder kids gt, the mre they reprted it wuld be mre acceptable t attack devices.
The findings ffer new ideas abut the changing relatinship between children and intelligent devices and raise imprtant questins abut hw we are suppsed t treat them in general and as parents. Shuld adults, fr example, mdel gd behavir fr their kids by thanking AI devices fr their help?

Real-time Dialgue with a Dreaming Persn
While dreams are a cmmn experience, scientists still haven’t fully explained them. Relying n a persn’s retelling f dreams is als filled with distrtins(扭曲) and frgtten details. And mst curius f all, dreams take us t what feels like a different reality. They als happen while we’re fast asleep. S, yu might nt expect that a persn in the middle f a vivid dream wuld be able t sense questins and prvide answers t them. But a new study reprted in the jurnal Current Bilgy n February 18, 2021 shws that, in fact, they can.
The researchers frm fur labs in fur different cuntries studied 36 peple wh aimed t have a lucid dream, in which a persn realizes he/she is dreaming. The study is unusual because it includes fur experiments using different ways t achieve a similar gal. “We fund that individuals in REM sleep(快速眼动睡眠状态) can interact with an experimenter and engage in real-time cmmunicatin.” said senir researcher Ken Paller f Nrthwestern University. “We als shwed dreamers can understand questins, take part in wrking-memry peratins, and prduce answers, althugh mst peple might think this wuld nt be pssible. “We put the results frm fur different labs tgether because we cnsidered that they can prve the reality f this tw-way cmmunicatin activity.” Karen Knkly, anther specialist in this field, added.
Accrding t the study, it was pssible fr peple while dreaming t fllw instructins, d simple math, answer yes-r-n questins, r tell the difference between different sensry stimuli(感官刺激). They culd respnd by using eye mvements r cntracting(收缩) facial muscles. The researchers refer t it as “interactive dreaming”.
“Our experiment is like finding a way t talk with an astrnaut in anther wrld, but in this case the wrld is cmpletely based n the memries stred in the brain,” the researchers write. But we realized that finding a way t cmmunicate culd pen the dr in future scientific examinatins. Mrever, it is helpful t learn mre abut dreams and memry strage. We will carry ut fllw-up experiments, aiming t learn mre abut cnnectins between sleep and memry prcessing, and abut hw dreams may shw this memry prcessing,” the researchers say.
27.The wrd “lucid” in Paragraph 2 prbably means “________”.

In tday’s climate, industries ften talk abut the new ppular wrd f this age, big data. Big data refers t data in general, mstly unrganized and unstructured. The use f big data has huge ptential (潜力) fr varius industries, healthcare included. Facebk and Amazn, fr example, use big data fr their digital structures t match custmers with their interests. Sme experts in discussing big data have described it as the fur Vs: Vlume referring t a large amunt f data; Velcity referring t the timely generatin f data; Variety referring t the many frms f data; Veracity referring t the quality f the data.
Sme researchers discussed the ptential f big data in medicine recently. Fr example, big data can be used t imprve decisin-making when cmbined (结合) with ther new technlgy like artificial intelligence (AI). It is pssible that big data can cmbine clinical (临床的) characteristics, lifestyle and envirnmental factrs with AI in future clinical testing. Hwever, this remains just a daydream at the present mment. S far, all big data techniques are mainly descriptive. In the future, with advanced cmputatinal pwer, using big data in medicine is prmising.
Hwever, big data als has its limitatins, and there are several lessns we must learn befre using it effectively. First, big data is never well-managed and cmes with a large degree f mess. Thus, selecting the crrect technlgy with human pwer t manage big data is f imprtance. Secnd, analytic (分析的) cmpanies can misinterpret (误解) big data by using incrrect research questins t test their guesses r using the wrng tl t analyze the related data, resulting in delivering false messages.
Surgisphere, an American analytic cmpany, is a typical example f what can g wrng thrugh the analysis f big data. Surgisphere stated that it cllected data frm ver 1000 hspitals wrldwide. Althugh this is pssible and new technlgy can cmplete this task with minimal human resurces, it is difficult that this data can be well-managed. In additin, healthcare data is challenging t wrk with, as the cmbining f electrnic medical recrds and data privacy are majr prblems. Anther example is the Cambridge analytic case (案例), where data gt frm Facebk was used withut permissin.
When prperly used, big data can be a game-changer fr varius industries, including the healthcare industry. This requires well-managed data, related research questins, apprpriate analytic tls, and advanced cmputatinal pwers. In the wrng hands, big data can be a big threat that can bring industries int disrder as a whle.
30.Accrding t the passage, Facebk and Amazn use big data t ________.
A.set up their healthcare industryB.crrect their digital structures
C.meet custmers’ preferencesD.increase the amunt f data
31.What can we learn frm the passage?
A.Big data in međicine can be used well with imprved cmputatinal pwer.
B.Medical recrds and data privacy are well-managed in health care.
C. The data was misleading in the Cambridge analytic case.
D.Amazn used the related data withut false messages.
32.What is the writer’s main purpse in writing this passage?
A.T questin whether the data cmpanies can help t imprve decisin-making.
