Here are top 4 destinations to start your new trip.
    Ireland
If you’re looking for the right mixture of history, culture and nature, you’ll find it in Ireland. You can enjoy surprising views here. If you’re in the mood for a boat trip, consider giving it a try in the evening in Cork—it’s truly magical.
    Italy
Italy has so many fascinating cities and places to visit, but it would be impossible to see them all in one go. A road trip could work, and Rome is a great place to start. You’re steeped in history throughout the city with the Pantheon and the Colosseum, as well as the historic and architectural gems in the Vatican City. Throw a coin into the Trevi di Fontana before you leave the city, which means you’ll return here one day.
    Thailand
Thailand has some of the best beaches in the world, even before Leonardo DiCaprio made Maya Bay, on Phi Phi Leh, lamous in The Beach. Admittedly, the film does a great job of describing this beautiful island, yet green waters and white sands are pretty standards in this country.
    United Arab Emirates
If you’re one of those people who love all luxurious (奢侈的) things, then a trip to Dubai is for you. With year-long sun and grand hotels, this is the place for endless shopping, cocktail drinking by a plush pool and sunbathing on an artificial beach—the Palm Islands. Head to the Golden Souk for a spot of jewellery (珠宝) shopping. If you’re feeling hungry, you can eat at the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.
21.What may one mean by throwing a coin into the Trevi di Fontana?
A.Getting more coins. B.Expressing good will.
C.Coming back some day. D.Wishing for good luck.
    22.What is The Beach?
    A.A magazine. B.A website.
    C.A newspaper. D.A movie.
23.Which of the following has the highest building in the world?
    A.Ireland. B.United Arab Emirates.
    C.Thailand. D.Italy.

Anna Heusler and a group of cyclists were riding towards Adelaide on Friday when they spotted a koala sitting in the middle of the road. It wasn’t the first time that Heusler had seen koalas out and about on the roads while riding—but this koala’s reaction amazed her. ''We stopped the bikes to help the koala get off the road, otherwise it would get hit by cars. But the koala walked up to me very quickly. It was obviously very thirsty, '' Heusler told CNN.
''As I was giving it a drink from our water bottles, it climbed up onto my bike. I've never seen a koala move so quickly. They're usually not pet animals, they stay up in the trees and people admire them from afar. ''
''None of us have ever seen anything like it. We gave it as much as we could and then made sure it was off the road and back to safety. ''Heusler shared the adorable yet heartbreak-ing images to her blog, showing the koala drinking water from her bottle. ''Australian Koala Bears suffered severe thirst in a heatwave. This koala walked right up to me as I was going down and climbed up onto my bike while I gave it water, '' she captioned the image. The video has since gone viral online, ranking top of millions of views on social media around the world. ''There's nothing but tragedy in Australia. It's burning out of control'' Heusler said. ''I hope this incident helps spread awareness. ''
Severe fires in the Adelaide Hills have burned 25,000 hectares of land, leaving koalas searching for food and water hard. Adelaide Koala Rescue's Jane Brister is currently caring for 46 koalas that have had their homes destroyed. She said the centre doesn’t normally care for this many koalas at once and the increase was due to the fires. ''A big problem we’ re noticing now is that koalas are coming in starving… there's just no food, '' Ms Brister said. Koalas eat eucalyptus (桉树)leaves—but thousands of trees have been destroyed by fires. Firefighters now across the country are taking time to care for wildlife when they find them before handing them to the correct authorities.
24.How did the koala surprise Heusler during her trip?
A.It approached her for the water.
B.It arried its baby to beg for her help.
C.It sat still in the middle of the road.
D.It was hit seriously by a car.
25.What can we know about koalas from paragraph 2?
    A.They usually walk fast.
    B.They are highly social animals.
C.They often rely on people to survive.
D.They usually don't stay close to humans.
26.Why did Heusler post the koala pictures online?
A.To spread people's awareness of the fire.
B.To stress the worsening climate change.
C.To remind people of the naughty koala.
    D.To get more likes online.
27.What does Jane Brister's work focus on now?
    A.Putting out the forest fire.
    B.Looking for koala babies.
    C.Protecting the endangered trees.
    D.Looking after starving koalas.
    C
For lots of animals---humans included---lazing about in the sunshine is one of life's greatest pleasures. But unfortunately, this leisure comes with a cost: sunburn. And, while its most likely victims are the fairer-skinned among us, animals are at risk of sunburn, too. But if this can happen to animals too, why, then, don't we ever see sunburned fish?
"If you think of it, the sun has been here forever in terms of our planet, and all individuals have been exposed to it," said Karina Acevedo-Whitehouse, a molecular epidemiologist from the Autonomous University of Queretaro, in Mexico. So, it's a pretty strong selective pressure that the sun has put on animals and that has led to many mechanisms of reacting to it."
Some of these mechanisms are obvious: hair, fur, wool, feathers and scales(鱼鳞)on many creatures create a barrier between sunshine and skin.
But, "marine mammals(海洋哺乳动物), and specifically cetaceans(whales, dolphins and porpoises), are an exception because they don't have fur; they don't have scales," said Acevedo-Whitehouse, who has been studying sunburn in whales for over five years.
In skin samples taken from the backs of blue, sperm and fin whales on their cross-ocean migrations, Acevedo-Whitehouse and her colleagues discovered signs of sunburn from the whales' hours spent breathing and socializing at the surface. But crucially, they also discovered that whales have specialized mechanisms that help them cancel out this burn. "The common adaptation of cetaceans is that they appear to be very effective at repairing damage," she said.
Some whales generate colors that darken and protect their skin; others have genes(基因)that set off a protective stress response in the skin. There are even whales that have developed a hard, keratinized layer(角质层)that protects the delicate skin below. "We were excited to see there isn't really evidence of skin cancer in whales," Acevedo-Whitehouse said. Now, they're trying to understand precisely how those healing mechanisms work.
28.Which of the following problems is the text trying to solve?
    A.Do whales ever get sunburnt?
    B.How do whales avoid sunburn?
    C.Do animals ever get sunburnt?
    D.How do mammals protect skin?
29.What does the "exception" in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A.Whales don't have fur to protect themselves.
B.Whales can protect their skin even without fur.
C.Whales build a wall between sunshine and skin.
D.Whales' reacting mechanism is obviously found.
30.In what situation do some whales probably get sunburnt?
    A.Breathing. B.Socializing above water.
    C.Sunbathing. D.Surfacing for a long time.
31.Some whales adapt well to sun damage, depending on ________.
    A.rapid healing B.self-made sun cream
    C.protective coats D.impossibility of cancer
    D
I grew up in a home with a mother who believes that vaccines cause brain damage, and do not contribute to the health and safety of a society. The only shot I received was for tetanus (破伤风) when I was two months old. After that, nothing.
At the beginning of each school year, I was very anxious. Delayed term paper? Mischievous (捣蛋的) behaviour? Late for school? None of them. I’d be pulled out of class and brought to the headmaster’s office. The school doctor would tell me I haven’t received any of the necessary shots to attend school. But the same thing occurred each time: my mom would exempt (免除) me from the shots and nothing would happen.
After doing a lot of research, I found although people who don’t vaccinate their children make up only a relatively small group, they can cause major consequences. People who, for health or age reasons, cannot receive vaccines are at a higher risk of catching a preventable disease.
Eventually, I turned 18. In Ohio, where I live, I had to wait until I became a legal adult to make the decision to receive vaccine shots. A huge factor in taking the step to ensure my health was the message board website Reddit. Last year, I asked Reddit users for advice about what vaccines to ask for and how to go about getting them from a doctor. After my post received more than 1,000 comments, I made an appointment with my family physician. Despite how strongly my mother felt, I went through with it anyway.
I did something every person should do. It wasn’t special in any way. Vaccines protect the health and safety of not only yourself but also other people. Vaccination is important because someone could die if you don’t get vaccinated. This was the biggest reason I got vaccinated despite the opposition.
32.What can we know about the author from Paragraph 1?
A.He was born disabled. B.He suffered from tetanus.
C.He was hardly vaccinated. D.He was spoiled by his mother.
33.Why did the author feel nervous at the beginning of each school year?
A.Because he would never behave himself.
B.Because he couldn’t go to school on time.
C.Because he often forgot to do his term paper.
D.Because he would be called to meet headmaster.
34.How might the author’s mother have felt about his appointment with the family physician?
    A.Grateful B.Annoyed C.Excited D.Guilty
35.What message does the author try to convey through his story?
A.Obeying the old pays off. B.Keeping fit is the best policy.
C.Doing the right thing matters. D.Following advice is beneficial.

Frankly, I have read nearly all of the great works of literature, but no book has ever impressed me as deeply or directly ___56___ Joel Stein’s Man Made: A Stupid Quest for Masculinity.
Haven’t we all, on some level, been Jewish boys in New Jersey in the 1970s with only female friends, an Easy-Bake oven and a strong ___57___ (prefer)for show tunes? Haven’t we all had ___58___ panic attack when learning we’re going to have a son, since that means we’re going to have to figure out how to throw footballs, watch other people throw footballs and decide ___59___ to be happy or sad about the results of football throwing? Haven’t we all then tried to correct our lack of maleness by becoming a man, fighting fires with firefighters, ___60___ (drive)a Lamborghini and doing three days of Army training camp? I know I have.
The only parts I didn’t fully enjoy were ___61___ in which the author suffered horribly. After just three hours of training camp, he fainted weakly into the arms of a soldier. The film rights to Man Made have already been sold to Fox, and I hope it gets ___62___ (turn)into a movie with George Clooney playing the Stein role, since they remind me so much of each other.
___63___ this is only Stein’s first book, I would already consider him as someone like David Sedaris, Dave Barry, James Thurber, Mark Twain and Abraham Lincoln. I ___64___ (recommend)Man Made not just to all my friends and family but also to strangers on Twitter over and over again. My fear is ___65___ after this great achievement, Stein will lose his ability to be a cruel critic of our shallow times.

There was once a wonderful old man who loved everything: animals, spiders, insects and allsorts of living things.
One day while walking through the woods, the old man found a cocoon(茧) . He decided to take the cocoon home to watch its beautiful transformation from a little cocoon to a beautiful butterfly.
A few days later, the cocoon started to move. It moved frantically! He sat and watched it struggle and struggle for several hours. But it seemed not to make any progress. Then the old man felt sorry for the little butterfly inside, and rushed to its aid. With a pair of scissors and gently, he cut a little opening in the cocoon so the butterfly could come out. And then the butterfly came out of its cocoon. It had a swollen body and small, fragile wings, but it never was able to fly.
He was quite puzzled. Had he accidentally killed the little butterfly? No, it was still moving a little bit. Maybe it was sick. Then he decided that the best thing he could do for the butterfly was to place it gently back into its cocoon. He did so, and placed a drop of honey on it to seal the cocoon, leaving the butterfly to nestle (筑巢) in its natural state.
The next day he noticed that the cocoon was moving again. It struggled and struggled. Finally the butterfly broke free from its cocoon and stretched its wings out. Its beautiful wings were filled with wonderful colors! It took off! It was flying!
The wonderful butterfly flew and flew till it was almost out of the old man’ s sight. What a joy, he exclaimed! But then he started to think: what did I do wrong by trying to help that beautiful little butterfly out at first?
    Finally the answer came out.

Deep Springs is an American college. It is an unusual college. It is high in the white mountains in California not in a college town. The campus is a collection of old buildings with no beautiful classrooms. The only collegelike thing about Deep Springs is its library. Students can borrow from the 17,000 books 24 hours a day. The library is never crowded as there are only 24 excellent boy students at the college. And there are only 5 professors. These teachers believe in the idea of the college. They are not well paid. In fact, their salaries are only about 9,000 dollars a year. The college gives the teachers and students something more important than money. There is no place like Deep Springs. Students are there to learn and they cannot run away from problems because there is no place to escape to. At most colleges, students can close their books and go to a film. They can go out to restaurants or to parties, but the students in Deep Springs have completely different activities. They can talk to each other or to their teachers. They might go out for a walk in the desert. Deep Springs is far from the world of restaurants and cinemas. There is not even a television set on the campus.

In 2011 alone, Goodwill Industries helped divert more than 2 billion pounds of used goods from landfills--all because people decided to donate their used items instead of throwing them away.
Then that money is funneled through the Goodwill system, and is used to provide services for individuals in the community who need the help.
People start on the first rung of the Ladder by identifying the problems they need to solve, and determining the skills they need to get a job.
From there, people figure out further skills they need in order to keep climbing the Ladder. 上文中figure out further skills对应D选项中potential。
The Donate Movement was inspired by Goodwill’s partnership with Levi's. The jeans company wanted to do something for the environment. The company also believed there was a way to improve communities and help the environment at the same time.

根据空前的as deeply or directly可知,此处考查as...as... 故填as。
prefer的名词为preference,意为“偏爱”,a prefrence for...,意为“对……的偏好”。故填preference。
故填a。

The importance of a good sleep can never be emphasized too much. It can help us stay focused in class and improve the study efficiency, furthermore, serves as a basic foundation for good health. Therefore, it is suggested that we should work out an efficient plan for our school life, striking a balance between work and study. Only by keeping a healthy life-style can we have a strong body to deal with future challenges.
吸引注意力:draw our attention to →attract our attention to

Not only can it help us stay focused in class and improve the study efficiency but also it serves as a basic foundation for good health.
【点睛】[高分句型1] In order to draw our attention to the concern that high school students don’t have enough sleep, our school is holding a campaign of “Go home without a schoolbag”.
[高分句型2] Therefore, it is suggested that we should work out an efficient plan for our school life, striking a balance between work and study.
67.Finally the answer came out. What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening were Nature's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.
Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If we were allowed to go through our life without any obstacles and difficulties, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. And we could never fly. In fact, it is necessary to live with some difficulties. And it is these obstacles and difficulties that make us strong and get prepared for the greater challenges in our life.
    第2步:根据写作要求,确定关键词(组),如; kindness(善良),haste(草率),restricting(限制的),struggle(努力),spread(传播),require(需要),obstacle(障碍),difficulty(困难),flight(飞行),freedom(自由),cripple(使变残)及challenge(挑战)等。
作者在范文中使用了较多高级词汇和句式,高级词汇有get through(通过、熬过),go through(通过),be allowed to do (被允许做),be ready for(为……做好准备)以及get prepared for(为…… What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening were Nature's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings,状语从句If we were allowed to go through our life without any obstacles and difficulties, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. In fact, it is necessary to live with some difficulties. And it is these obstacles and difficulties that make us strong and get prepared for the greater challenges in our life.
