Lexi weighed 392 pounds and she has been trying to lose weight since she was a child, and it has always been difficult. She has always lost weight, but it has always come back. Her husband Danny weighed 280 pounds. The couple was ready for whatever difficulties might appear because of their desire to be healthy and happy for the first time in their lives.
Lexi and Danny were meant to be together. When they first started dating, Danny didn’t care about Lexi’s appearance and he fell in love with her wonderful personality (性格). Fortunately for Danny, Lexi felt the same way about him. Unfortunately, they chose one unhealthy lifestyle after another. They were in love, but they weren’t healthy together.
Danny and Lexi were both overweight, so they had a limited active life. They stayed in most nights and watched TV because they couldn’t go hiking or biking. Lexi was the first to realize that a big lifestyle change needed to happen. She was a cheerful and positive person, and she desired to live a long life. Danny wasn’t fond of exercising and eating well in the beginning. But it was fortunate that he cared more about supporting his wife than keeping his bad habits.
“We got tired of the life we were living, and we couldn’t do the things we wanted to do together as a couple,” Lexi says. She wanted to go on romantic walks with her husband, among other things. They felt that unless they took control of their health, they would never be able to do so.
Danny supported Lexi every step of the way and lost a lot of weight in the first year after changing his lifestyle, but he kept fighting even after his progress slowed down, like his wife. Their love has grown even stronger since they both went through this experience together. If you want to improve your health, having your loved one join you might just save your life! That’s what happened to these two lovebirds.

Have you ever noticed your dog taking a sunbath? You may think your dog is taking a nap(打盹) or relaxing when you see them in the sun. However, there is more to it than we can see.
Dogs are generations of wolves, which are extremely social animals. They express their love for one another by lying in the sun. Dogs follow their examples to stay warm in cold weather and cool down when it’s too hot to go outside. A dog’s body temperature stays at around 101 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the day. Their paws(爪子) allow them to sense heat and cold, so lying in the sun helps them keep their body temperature.
From the outside, it appears as though dogs are having a great time when they are taking a sunbath! However, dogs may get sunburned or develop skin problem if they are exposed to too much UV radiation(紫外线). What’s going on here? Why do some dogs lie in the sun for hours at a time? There are several reasons why your dog might be doing so, and all of them are related to his body’s sense to UV radiation.
The most obvious reason why dogs lie in the sun is that it feels nice. Dogs have a human-like response to UV rays, which means they feel warm when they are taking a sunbath. Your dog’s coat health is kept up by sunlight. You may have noticed that when you take your dog out on sunny days, their coats seem shinier and cleaner than they did when they were indoors all day. The skin under their coat stays healthy thanks to sunlight, which then keeps the coat healthier.
There are many reasons why dogs enjoy sunbathing. It is a fantastic way for them to relax and have fun. They like the heat; they enjoy it, or they want something soft against their backs such as grass when they lie outside. When outdoors during the day, they feel safer being close to you.
28.What can we learn from the first two paragraphs?
A.Wolves are lonely animals. B.Dogs can’t sense heat and cold.
C.Dogs like taking a nap under the tree. D.Dogs are closely related to wolves in some way.
29.Why do dogs like sunbathing?
A.To lie on something soft. B.To get close to their owners.
C.To keep their body temperature. D.To express their love for wolves.
30.What does the underlined phrase “are exposed to” in paragraph 3 mean?
A.Avoid. B.Receive. C.Cover. D.Collect.
31.What is the text mainly about?
A.The reasons why dogs like sunbathing. B.The relationship between dogs and wolves.
C.The way dogs keep their body temperature. D.The way dogs keep their skin clean and healthy.
For centuries, people in the sunny Mediterranean (地中海) would get up after long, relaxing meals and take a walk, often to the town square to see neighbors and socialize. Walking is so much a part of the lifestyle that it is seen as the most important part of the super-healthy Mediterranean diet.
Studies have found why that it may be one of the reasons the Mediterranean diet can reduce the risk for some diseases like diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, stroke and some cancers — all the while strengthening bones, improving brain health, preventing dementia (痴呆) and helping with healthy weight loss.
Now you can add another reason to take a post-meal walk-it may lower your blood sugar. That trip doesn’t need to take up a huge amount of your time either: Walking as little as two to five minutes after a meal can do, according to a 2022 study in the journal Sports Medicine.
Standing after a meal can help, too, but not as much as putting one foot in front of the other, said study coauthor Aidan Buffey, a doctoral student in sport sciences department at the University of Limerick in Ireland.
“Standing on and off throughout the day and after meals reduced blood sugar on average by 9.51% compared to long hours of sitting. However, light-walking throughout the day saw a greater reduction of blood sugar by an average of 17.01% compared to long hours of sitting,” Buffey said.
“This suggests that breaking long hours of sitting with standing and light-walking throughout the day is good for blood sugar levels. Standing is good, but walking is better,” he added.
32.What is the purpose of paragraph 1?
A.To introduce a lifestyle. B.To warn the readers.
C.To lead in the topic. D.To prove an opinion.
33.What does “putting one foot in front of the other” in paragraph 4 mean?
A.Standing. B.Sitting. C.Walking. D.Lying.
34.How did Aidan Buffey draw his conclusion?
A.By doing surveys. B.By comparing the data.
C.By doing experiment. D.By referring to other studies.
35.What is the best title for the text?
A.Walking can help lower blood sugar B.There are reasons to stick to walking
C.Mediterranean diet is super healthy D.Long hours of sitting after meal is a bad habit

No. ____38____ Even one minute of consciously connecting with one of your senses can be thought as a mindful exercise.
Be a single-tasker
Single-tasking is doing one thing at a time. Multitasking (多任务处理) is trying to do two or more tasks at the same time or changing back and forth between tasks. Nobody can actually multitask. In reality, your brain is madly changing from one thing to the next, often losing data in the process. ____39____ If multitasking is time-wasting, why do people still do it? The reason was found in a study by Zheng Wang at Ohio State University. She tracked students and found that when they multitasked, it made them feel more productive. ____40____
A.Use short mindful exercises at work
B.Use something to remind you to be mindful
C.Mindful exercises can be as short as you wish.
D.Most people know multitasking has no effect nowadays.

However表示上下文是转折关系,上文“From the outside, it appears as though dogs are having a great time when they are taking a sunbath!(从外面看,狗在晒日光浴的时候似乎玩得很开心!)”
故选A。
32.C 33.C 34.B 35.A
根据第一段“For centuries, people in the sunny Mediterranean (地中海) would get up after long, relaxing meals and take a walk, often to the town square to see neighbors and socialize. Walking is so much a part of the lifestyle that it is seen as the most important part of the super-healthy Mediterranean diet.(几个世纪以来,生活在阳光明媚的地中海地区的人们会在吃完长时间放松的晚餐后起来散步,经常到城镇广场去看望邻居和社交。
根据第四段“Standing after a meal can help, too, but not as much as putting one foot in front of the other (饭后站着也有帮助,但不如putting one foot in front of the other)”和第五段““Standing on and off throughout the day and after meals reduced blood sugar on average by 9.51% compared to long hours of sitting. However, light-walking throughout the day saw a greater reduction of blood sugar by an average of 17.01% compared to long hours of sitting,” Buffey said.( Buffey说:“与长时间坐着相比,整天站着或饭后站着平均能降低9.51%的血糖。 可推知,散步比饭后站着更有效,putting one foot in front of the other指的是散步。故选C。
根据第五段““Standing on and off throughout the day and after meals reduced blood sugar on average by 9.51% compared to long hours of sitting. However, light-walking throughout the day saw a greater reduction of blood sugar by an average of 17.01% compared to long hours of sitting,” Buffey said.( Buffey说:“与长时间坐着相比,整天站着或饭后站着平均能降低9.51%的血糖。
根据第三段“Now you can add another reason to take a post-meal walk-it may lower your blood sugar.(现在你又多了一个饭后散步的理由——它可以降低你的血糖)”结合文章主要说明了研究表明饭后散步有助于稳定血糖,介绍了饭后散步的好处以及相关研究。 故选A。
36.G 37.A 38.C 39.D 40.E
36.下文“Mindful work means to being consciously present in what you’re doing, while you’re doing it, as well as managing your mental and emotional state.
根据下文“Mindful exercises train your brain to be more mindful. The more mindful exercises you do, the easier your brain finds it to enter a mindful state, thus optimizing your brain function. In the busy workplace, finding time for a 30-minute mindful exercise can be difficult.(正念练习训练你的大脑变得更警觉。 故选A。
38.根据上文“In the busy workplace, finding time for a 30-minute mindful exercise can be difficult. So does that mean you can’t be mindful at all at work?
39.根据上文“Nobody can actually multitask. In reality, your brain is madly changing from one thing to the next, often losing data in the process.(没有人能同时处理多项任务。 符合语境,D项中的“multitasking has no effect”呼应上下文。故选D。
40.上文“The reason was found in a study by Zheng Wang at Ohio State University. She tracked students and found that when they multitasked, it made them feel more productive.(俄亥俄州立大学的王政在一项研究中发现了原因。

故填to avoid。
故填be taken。

Representatives from each class competed in the game, in which the competitors played fairly and showed respect to other players. Their hard work left a deep impression on us and excellent performance earned a lot of applause. At the end of the match, Class 5 Grade 2 ranked first.
The event has won great popularity among students. Not only did it give us the opportunity to relax, but it also deepened our understanding of the sportsmanship.

67.One possible version:
The next morning, Susan and the schoolmates came to the lecture hall. She felt nervous and happy. They asked Susan about Tom. She told the story patiently. After that, everyone burst into applause. The headmaster asked Susan what her dream was. Susan told him that she wanted to be a famous dancer, but her mom thought it’s impossible because they had no money. On hearing that, the headmaster smiled and said, “Don’t worry, reach your dream, Susan. From today, you will have scholarship to make your dream come true.”
Susan couldn’t believe what the headmaster had said. To praise Susan’s good deeds and encourage her dream, the headmaster and teachers decided to donate the money for her dream. They told Susan to study hard, stay kind and always to be helpful, and then she would realize her dream. Susan laughed joyfully and cried. She said thanks many times to the headmaster and also her teachers. Her dream would come true. She just recalled her dad, and he must be proud of her. Susan went home happily.
