Teaching procedure

Step1.Presentation

1. Point to the actions that students are having ,asking,What are you doing?Present :I’m listening to you. I’m having an English class.Ask students to read the sentences together/in halves/groups,then read them one by one.
2. Show pictures,present :What are you doing?I’m watching TV./cleaning/reading a newspaper/talking on the phone./listening to a CD/using the computer/making soup./washing the dishes/exercising.At the same time ,writing

 down the phrases on the blackboard and teach students to read the new words and phrases: .read a newspaper.use .make soup.wash

3.Ask students to read the phrases together/in halves/groups,then read them one by one.

Step2.Practice

1.Show pictures,ask students to practice in pairs What are you doing?I’m watching TV./talking on the phone.etc

2.Act it in class. .

3. Ask students to match the activities with the pictures in 1a.
4. Check the answers by students.

5.Let students read the phrases.

6.Ask students to observe this: be+doing ,then circle the words:watching.cleaning reading.talking.and so on

Step3.Listening

1. Before listening,ask students to look through the pictures in 1a to predict the answers.
2. Play the tape once.Students listen and write the numbers from 1a
3. Check the answers by students
4. Read after the tape without books .
5. Look at the listening materials on Page91,let students read

 together at first, then read between boys and girls

Step4.Practice

1.Show pictures，practice What is she/he doing?She/He is talking on the phone. What are you doing? We are having an English class.What are they doing?They are making soup.

2. Act in class. If possible ,correct mistakes

Step5.  Exercises

1.Do some exercises.about Present Progressive Tense

2.Check the answers by students.

Step6.Summary

1. Ask students to observe the structure of Present Progressive Tense
2. Let students pay more attention how to add v-ing
