Most of us travel with our parents as children and teenagers. For some of us, during the travel, our parents are our inspiration. These trips are normally full of rental(租借的)cars beaches, and hamburgers. My family would go to Galiano island every summer, and we spent a week in Mexico in 1995, and then we took two different trips to Anaheim to experience the magic of Disney, Universal, and Knott’s Berry Farm, the US.
But all of these are childhood experiences and memories. I didn’t truly travel with my parents until I’m an adult when I got the chance to travel with mom and dad.
I was in New Zealand for a study abroad, and invited my parents to come down for a 2-week road trip around the North Island and then 10 days in Fiji. Why not? They said as if this was something they were invited to do every day. I didn’t really plan anything, but my mom had done some reading and I knew some highlights(亮点)after living in New Zealand for 5 months.
I had booked a hotel for their first night in Auckland. The only other preparation I had done was to book a rental car. My parents immediately reached an agreement that I should be the driver, for the whole two weeks. The main reason for this, understandably, was that neither of them had ever been in a country where you drive on the left hand side of the road and on the right hand side of the car. This led to me driving my parents around the entire North Island of New Zealand for 2 weeks! But still, everybody had jobs. Dad had the maps, and mom had the guidebook, and I just took them where they told me to go.
Sometimes as two kids’ father, I was asked who I was traveling with. When I said “my parents”, the response was, “Ohhh, older people.” Actually, I have some tips on travelling with parents happily.

A. They were not used to the driving rules. B. They were afraid of the mountain roads.
C. They were too old to drive for a long time. D. They were not familiar with the car condition.
27. What will the writer most probably share next?
A. The argument with parents. B. The memory in Fiji as a child.
C. The scenery during the road trip. D. The advice on outing with parents.
C
As we all know, China is a large country. That is the reason why there are so many different dialects in China. It is hard to guess how many dialects actually exist. In general, dialects can be roughly classified into the following seven large groups: Putonghua (Mandarin), Gan, Kejia (Hakka), Min, Wu, Xiang, and Yue (Cantonese). Each language group contains a large number of dialects. These are the Chinese languages spoken mostly by the Han people which represents about 92 percent of the total population. The rest are non-Chinese languages spoken by minorities in China, such as Tibetan, Mongolian and Miao.
Even though the dialects from the seven groups are quite different, a non-Mandarin speaker usually can speak some Mandarin, even if with a strong accent. This is largely because Mandarin has been the official national language since 1913.
Despite the large differences among Chinese dialects, there is one thing in common—they all share the same writing system based on Chinese characters. However the same character is pronounced differently depending on which dialect one speaks. Let’s take “wo” for example, the word for “I” or “me”. In Mandarin it is pronounced “wo”. In Wu it is pronounced “ngu”. In Min, “gua”. In Cantonese, “ngo”. You get the idea.
A distinguishing(显著的)feature across all Chinese languages is tone. For instance, Mandarin has four tones and Cantonese has six tones. Tone, in terms of language is the pitch(音高)in which syllables(音节)in words are pronounced. In Chinese, different words stress different pitches. Some words even have pitch variation in one single syllable so they have different tones and pronunciations. Thus, the tone is very important in any Chinese dialect. There are many cases when words spelt in pinyin are the same, but the way it is pronounced changes the meaning. For example, in Mandarin, 妈(mā)means “mother”, 马(mǎ)means “horse”, and骂(mà)means “to scold”.
28. What is Paragraph One mainly about?
A. China has a vast area.
B. People in China speak seven dialects.
C. Dialects are rich in China and hard to count.
D. Mandarin is spoken by 92 percent of Chinese population.
29. How does the writer explain the same character with different pronunciations?
A. By explaining reasons. B. By giving examples.
C. By stating facts. D. By making comparisons.
30. What does the underlined word “variation” mean in the last paragraph?
A. Pause. B. Speed. C. Power. D. Change.
31. Why does the writer mention mother, horse and scold at the end of the passage?
A. To prove the important role of tones. B. To discuss the single syllable of pinyin.
C. To stress the different pitch of Cantonese. D. To show the distinguishing feature of Mandarin.
D
In July 2017, Hoh Xil became a world heritage(遗产)site and there live more than 70,000 Tibetan antelopes. Every year, pregnant(怀孕的)Tibetan antelopes migrate(迁徙)to Hoh Xil between the end of May and early June to give birth and leave with their children around August. Zonag Lake at the heart of Hoh Xil is known as the “delivery room” for the species.
About 40 female Tibetan antelopes with three young were spotted crossing the Qinghai-Tibet Railway on Saturday. Experts say that in recent years the number of young Tibetan antelopes among the migrating groups consisted of between a fifth and a quarter of the population.
“In the early stage of migration, Tibetan antelopes face a high risk of falling prey to predators(盗猎者), so the number of young Tibetan antelopes is relatively small and there may even be none,” said Lian Xinming, an associate research fellow at Northwest Institute of Plateau Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
According to research, the number of Tibetan antelopes that migrate back has been rising A total of 5,952 Tibetan antelopes were spotted migrating in 2020, and 233 more in 2021. “This year’s migration season is expected to finish in early September. The population is expected to continue to increase,” Lian said.
Tibetan antelopes are mostly found in Tibet autonomous region, Qinghai Province, and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. The species is under first-class state protection in China.
In the 1980s, the Tibetan antelope population declined sharply from 200,000 to 20,000, due to illegal hunting. It has recovered thanks to the country’s efforts to improve its habitat and crack down on poaching(盗猎).
To make sure the species go back to their habitats safe and sound the reserve’s management bureau has staff monitoring their migration. When they come over in large groups, they temporarily close some sections of the road to make way for the animals and prevent them from having interactions with humans.
32. What can we infer from the text?
A. Tibetan antelopes migrate to Hoh Xil to find mates.
B. Baby Tibetan antelopes are born in Zonag Lake.
C. Female Tibetan antelopes make up a fifth of the population.
D. Migrating Tibetan antelopes’ number is 6,185 in 2021.
33. What does Lian Xinming think of the future of Tibetan antelopes?
A. Promising. B. Concerning. C. Perfect. D. Unpredictable.
34. Why are some sections of the road closed sometimes?
A. To offer delivery places. B. To catch illegal predators.
C. To stop poaching Tibetan antelopes. D. To avoid animals meeting people.
35. What is the best title of the passage?
A. The Habitats of Tibetan Antelopes
B. The Migration of Tibetan Antelopes
C. The Measures of Protecting Tibetan Antelopes
D. The Methods to Stop Poaching Tibetan Antelopes

I still remember the day when we decorated the house. I was ten and it was two weeks before Christmas. I was looking forward to my presents. Since I’m the youngest in the family, all of the family members would give me a gift one way or another. Sometimes it was a cookie or a hug but it was always there. I was the only center of attention and it was feeling good.
My uncles would usually ask me what I wanted before Christmas and that year I knew what I wanted. It was the spaceship I saw in the ads. I was dreaming of opening a big gift box, and it was there. But that year it came in a way that I wasn’t expecting
It was two weeks before Christmas. Just two weeks. She couldn’t wait. My dear mother told my father that it was time, and then we went to the hospital. After an hour, they told me that I had a sister now. But I didn’t want a sister. I wanted a spaceship. The next few days went so fast. No one was caring about me. Everyone was talking about her and I knew that my life is never going to be the same ever again. I wasn’t ready to grow up to be a big brother. But it just happened in an instant.
On the day before Christmas everyone was in our home talking only about my newborn sister. My family was becoming hers. Even my uncles didn’t ask me anything about the gift. She stole everything I’d ever had, my life and my presents. Thinking about this, I cried to sleep. I had a nightmare(噩梦)and woke up at the middle of the night. Shadows were all around me, and I was defenseless and so weak. I ran into my parents’ bedroom but couldn’t wake up my poor parents who were just too worn out. I was standing near their bed, trying not to cry when I saw her. She was awake and looking at me with her big eyes in her small bed.

2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Suddenly a long shadow came into the bedroom and she started crying. ________________________________

M: I’m doing research about the panda. Can you give me a detailed introduction to it?

They usually live alone and do not meet other pandas. They can live for about 20 years. We can see that pandas are black and white in color. Some scientists believe this helps them stand out in the forest. Then they can find each other easily.
M: Well, what is the panda’s enemy?
W: The worst enemy of the panda is human beings. We replaced the bamboo forests with cities and farmland. It’s more and more difficult for the pandas to find food and a place to be their home.
Text 10
W: I’m here today to tell you about my career as a writer. I wrote my first novel in 1987. I called it Sunset. However, it didn’t come out until 1996, four years after my first published novel. After school, I went to university where I studied law. However, I never practiced law. I was lucky enough to get a holiday job on a local newspaper as a reporter, and I stayed there. This, of course, gave me lots of opportunities to improve my writing skills. I had my first novel published during that period. It was called Tango. It wasn’t a great success, but it gave me useful contacts in the publishing world. My second novel, The Ballet Dancer, was much more successful. It even won a prize for new novelists. Since then, I’ve written three more novels and have also had a couple of collections of short stories published. At present, I’m experimenting with writing a play—The List. I feel I’m learning a great deal from this work.

第二节
Paragraph 1:
Suddenly a long shadow came into the bedroom and she started crying. Frightened at first, I then realized that it was just a car passing by. But she felt uneasy, her mouth wide opening, arms waving, and legs kicking. I thought she might be scared too, so I held out one of my hands to hold hers, patting her on the back with the other. I even moved a bit closer to her little bed, whispering my favorite song to her ears, just as my mum did when I got scared. Surprisingly, she seemed to understand me and stopped crying. Looking into her big eyes, I breathed a sigh of relief.
Paragraph 2:
After having comforted her, something slowly changed inside me. The sense of loneliness was replaced by the responsibility of being an elder brother. Even though her arrival took over the center of the whole family previously, she started to become the center of my attention too. With her cute round face and sparkling eyes, she also won my love and care for her. I looked around and found my parents, awake, smiling at me. With a shadow of a happy family cast on the window, I felt my little sister was the best gift I’d ever got.
