Raden is a librarian in Indonesia. She has a project—lending books to children in exchange for litter they collect.
Raden likes her job. Each weekday, Raden rides her three-wheeler with books stacked up(堆放)at the back to the village. There, many children are waiting to exchange books with plastic cups, bags and other waste. When she arrives, the children gather around her three-wheeler, the “Litter Library”, and the books fly out quickly.
Raden collects about 100kg of waste each week, which is then divided by her workmates for recycling or sold. She has a stock of 6,000 books to lend and plans to take the mobile service to the other areas as well.
Raden’s project is a new way to make the kids read more. She is happy that the kids are going to spend more time on books than online games as a result. She thinks that it can help build a culture of reading from young age to reduce the harm of the online world.
The project is also a way to clean up the environment. It can help to take care of the waste to fight climate change and to make the earth safe. Kevin is a reader of the “Litter Library”. He’s 11 years old. He often looks for waste lying in the village. “When there is too much litter, our environment will become dirty and it’s not healthy. That’s why I look for litter to borrow a book,” he Says.
More and more people realize that it’s important to pay more attention to both reading in kids and protecting the environment. That must be good news to Raden.

1.Library 2.lends 3.job 4.weekdays 5.litter##waste 6.divide 7.more##farther 8.less 9.save##protect 10.importance
1.根据“When she arrives, the children gather around her three-wheeler, the “Litter Library”, and the books fly out quickly.”
2.根据“She has a project—lending books to children in exchange for litter they collect.”
3.根据“Raden likes her job.”
4.根据“Each weekday, Raden rides her three-wheeler with books stacked up(堆放)at the back to the village.”
5.根据“She has a project—lending books to children in exchange for litter they collect.”和“Raden collects about 100kg of waste each week, which is then divided by her workmates for recycling or sold.” 故填litter/waste。
6.根据“Raden collects about 100kg of waste each week, which is then divided by her workmates for recycling or sold.” help do sth“帮助做某事”。

8.根据“She thinks that it can help build a culture of reading from young age to reduce the harm of the online world.”
9.根据“It can help to take care of the waste to fight climate change and to make the earth safe.” 故填save/protect。
10.根据“More and more people realize that it’s important to pay more attention to both reading in kids and protecting the environment.”
What do we really mean by being open? Being open is a kind of invitation to others to come in, to speak and to share. It is important in letting others get to know how we think and feel. In this way we will be understood and accepted by others. If we aren’t open with others, we won’t fully believe in ourselves or others.
Here are a few ways for you to be more open. First, make your outside behavior the same with your inside feelings and thoughts. Second, share how you really feel about something instead of just opinions. Third, try to change your questions into statements and talk in the first person so that people will understand you more easily. Finally, try not to say, “I don’t know.” This usually means I don’t want to think about it any more.
Remember also that it is not suitable to be open with everyone in every situation. You may want to be more open with close friends, but not with people you don’t know well. Besides, some people may not be used to too much openness. If we say everything we feel or think to them, they will feel very uncomfortable at times.
In all, being open is a good way for us to get on well with other people, but we’d better keep the balance between being open and not being too open.
Why to be open
●____11____ others to come in, to speak and to share.
● Others will understand and accept us if they get to know our thoughts and feelings.
● Help us to fully believe in ourselves or others.
____12____ to be open
● Make outside behavior the same as your inside feelings and thoughts.
● Try to share your ____13____ feelings.
● Make statements instead of ____14____ and use the first person.
● Avoid saying “I don’t know.”
Suggestions

● Too much openness may make some people feel uncomfortable ____15____
11.Invite 12.Ways##How 13.real 14.questions 15.sometimes

In the past summer holiday, a group of students in Wuhan were asked to record their parents’ and their own moods. Organizers started this challenge to help the students and their parents not lose temper (发火).
News about the challenge soon spread online, and many people began to have a try. At the same time, however, the news led to a lot of discussions, not only on anger itself, but on how we should control our moods. Let’s take a look at what people say.
Some people think feeling angry is a common thing. It’s just like feeling hungry, lonely or tired. What we should do is not to avoid it, but to find out what makes us angry and what to do with it. Chinese food became popular in Western countries hundreds of years ago. So the local Chinese restaurants provide big pieces of meat without bones, even for fish. “
Some Chinese brands(品牌)are also becoming more popular. It is reported that in many cities in Europe, many stores sell TCL televisions, Haier fridges and Lenovo computers. More than half of US-owned drones(无人机)are Chinese models, according to China Daily. They’re not only made in China, but also designed and developed in the country.
In the past, most Western people thought Chinese products were cheap and not so good. But now, things have changed greatly. More people trust Chinese brands. “Made in China” becomes cool. “They are beautiful and offer something special that American phones don’t have,” an article on CNN once said about Chinese smartphones.

Sue and Jim were neighbours for five years but they were never interested in each other. Then one day, Sue saw Jim’s music collection. She noticed a rare punk rock CD that she also owned. At that moment, she realized that they both had the same interest in music and they started talking. Sue said, “I thought we had nothing in common (相同) until I saw his CD by the New York Dolls.” They are now married and living with each other.
Some psychologists (心理学家) think that your taste in music is related to (有联系的) your personality. As part of a test at the University of Texas, Austin, USA, volunteers created a CD of their favourite songs. The volunteers then listened to each other’s CDs and made guesses about the CD creator’s personality—outgoing, adventurous, happy, and so on. These strangers correctly guessed much more about each others’ personalities through their CDs than through their clothes or taste in films. For example, Sue and Jim love punk music, which means they have outgoing personalities.
The psychologists who did the test found Snoop Dogg (hip-hop) fans are likely to be energetic and talkative. People who like U2 (rock/pop music) are generally independent and adventurous.
The psychologists also found that Louis Armstrong (jazz) fans tend to (倾向于) be serious and intelligent. While fans of classical music are also likely to enjoy jazz music and tend to be shy. The psychologists were surprised to find that rap and heavy metal fans were also shier and quieter than many other music lovers.

The folk art form, kuaiban, which has a long history, can be performed by a group or a single person. With one or two pairs of bamboo clappers—a kind of traditional Chinese musical instrument in their hands, the performers tell stories in the local dialect(方言). These stories are usually folk tales or about social life.
Recently, Liu Jiming and Wan Yifu made and shared three short videos by using kuaiban which were viewed about 4 million times. As a result, Liu and Wan have gained more than 1million followers on the Internet. They’ve created many new works to raise people’s awareness. Some of their works are about the danger of drunken driving and food safety. They also write stories to show respect to people who make contributions, such as traffic policemen.
According to Liu and Wan, people can understand kuaiban pieces without difficulty. The stories told in kuaiban pieces are close to people’s daily lives. Thus, they consider that it is a fun way to introduce the Chinese folk culture through kuaiban. And what matters to them is that both young people and old people begin to know the charm of the art form, kuaiban, which may not be paid much attention to, compared to other traditional art forms.
Folk art forms, like xiangsheng, pingshu and kuaiban, share something in common. These traditional art forms show the beauty and value of traditional Chinese culture so they should be known by more people and get to more areas. When Chen Xingrong was 5 years old, he began to teach him how to swim. At the very beginning, he spent three months teaching his son, but all his efforts failed. Chinese traditional painting and dance are two important parts of the art world. But what about when they meet each other?
This year, a dance drama called Poetic Dance: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting (《只此青绿》) was shown on CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala. It became popular overnight.
According to CCTV, this poetic dance got the idea from the 900-year-old Chinese painting A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains (《千里江山图》). Created by Song Dynasty painter Wang Ximeng at about 18, the painting is amazing in its sweeping size, rich coloration and expressive details. It shows a Chinese blue-green landscape: “mountains and groupings of endless rise and fall between cloudless sky and rippling water”.
A The dance shows the Chinese traditional beauty of the painting. The dancers each had a different hairstyle, which looked like a mountain rock. B The clothes that they wore were shades of green and blue, which is also poetic show of the mountains and rivers. C When the dancers swayed beautifully, the audience seemed to be looking at the moving mountains and rivers. D More than a thousand years later, green mountains and rivers still wow people as they did long ago.
