The Best National Parks to Visit in Winter
While most parks tend to draw families in the summer and fall, there are also ideal spots for adventurous winter trips.
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
The country's oldest and best-known national park takes on an almost otherworldly atmosphere in winter: the air filled with rolling steam, the strong colors of hot springs, the surrounding white landscapes, let alone the impressive wildlife during this time, like bison, wolves, and playful red foxes.Just book a guided hiking tour to get a ranger's perspective of the park and local people.
Joshua Tree National Park, California
With its giant red rocks and unique trees, you'll feel like stepping onto a foreign planet as you spend hours hiking the Panorama Loop or Maze Loop. The park is recognized as an International Dark Sky Park, featuring virtually zero light pollution and the country's best views of a starry sky.
Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
A significantly lower number of visitors in winter means you can take in unblocked views of the South Rim, and get to see the rare beauty of the Grand Canyon dusted with snow. For those adventurous and daring people, they can hike the Bright Angel Trail and take the chance to see the canyon's wintertime wildlife, including mule deer, elk, and bald eagles.
Virgin Islands National Park, St. John
Surprise! Not all wintertime national park trips need to involve snow.Virgin Islands National Park is most famous for its white-sand beaches. You can also hike inland to visit old sugar plantations, or venture out to the water to swim along with sea turtles and manta rays. You will definitely enjoy a different winter here.
1.Which park will one choose if he/she is interested in stars?_B__
A.Yellowstone National Park.
B.Joshua Tree National Park.
C.Grand Canyon National Park.

根据Joshua Tree National Park, California部分中的“The park is recognized as an International Dark Sky Park, featuring virtually zero light pollution and the country's best views of a starry sky.”
2.What do we know about the Grand Canyon National Park?_D__
A.We can have a poor view of the South Rim there.
B.It lies in an area with rolling steam and hot springs.
C.There is a slight decline in visitor numbers in winter.
D.The Bright Angel Trail is challenging in cold weather.
根据Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona部分中的“For those adventurous and daring people, they can hike the Bright Angel Trail...”
3.Which activity is mentioned in all of the parks?_A__
A.Hiking. B.Skiing.
C.Swimming. D.Hunting.
根据Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming部分中的“Just book a guided hiking tour”;Joshua Tree National Park, California部分中的“as you spend hours hiking the Panorama Loop or Maze Loop”;Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona部分中的“they can hike the Bright Angel Trail”和Virgin Islands National Park, St.John部分中的“You can also hike inland”可知,四个国家公园都提到了远足这项活动。故选A。

In gardens across Britain the grass has stopped growing, which is not drought-stricken.In fact, it is greener and cleaner than ever before. That is because the lawns(草坪) are actually artificial substitutes.
Britons are fascinated by lawns.Country estates(庄园) have long competed to have the most perfectly cut and polished grassland.“What you're saying in big loud capital letters, is‘I'm so terribly wealthy’”says Fiona Davison of Royal Horticultural Society(RHS,英国皇家园艺协会).With the coming of grass-cutting machines in 1830, the middle classes joined the fun.
But now Britons have fallen in love with artificial grass.Evergreens UK, which sells the stuff, says it has seen a 120%rise in sales since 2015.Artificial grass is popular with families who have children or dogs and don't want mud dragged through their houses. It has another charm, too—people now see gardens as“outside rooms”—pairing carpets of artificial grass with delicately decorated seating and hot containers.
Not everyone is a fan.Artificial grass contains microplastics that ruin soil and risk flooding.A study finds earthworms gain 14%less body weight when operating under rubber,a form of artificial grass. This phenomenon might not be a problem for fans of artificial grass, as wormholes are regular disgusting things for them, but it disappoints green types.Ms Davison says a group of wildlife-loving gardeners is blooming, many having caught the bug during COVID-19 lockdowns. For example,a landscape designer says they like things less neat and try“to capture that wild element”.These eco-gardeners are influenced by rewilding projects and are more likely to be environmentalists.
Although three written documents signed by many people have tried to stop artificial grass spreading, the government says regulating what people do in their backyards is wrong. The RHS is concerned about artificial grass, but prefers persuasion to laws.“We say ‘Let a hundred flowers bloom’,”says Ms Davison.
4.What can be inferred from Davison's remark in Paragraph 2?_D__
A.She is very rich.
B.The gardening competition is fierce.
C.Operating a cutting machine is fun.
D.High-quality grassland is greatly valued.
5.What possibly contributes to the popularity of artificial grass?_B__
A.Advertising campaigns.
B.Gardens' new function.
C.Messy grasslands.
D.Ill-mannered children and dogs.
根据第三段中“It has another charm, too—people now see gardens as ‘outside rooms’”可知, 人造草坪受欢迎的原因是人们现在将花园视作“室外的房间”,本句中的charm表明花园的这种新功能是非常受欢迎的。故选B。
6.What does the underlined word“bug”mean in the fourth paragraph?_A__
A.Interest. B.Earthworm.
C.Flower. D.Virus.
画线词后文中的“For example,a landscape designer says they like things less neat and try ‘to capture that wild element’.” 故选A。
7.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text?_C__
A.The Barrier of British Grassland
B.The Appeal of Grassland for Britons
C.The Fight to Define the Great British Garden
D.The Competition to Become the Best Grassland

5G mobile technology has officially begun rolling out across the globe, which indicates a dynamic acceleration (加速) in our world of connectivity. It promotes operational cooperation tourism which we haven't experienced before. 1.A This is perceived from both the way the industry operates and the side of the traveler.
2.F It's expected to offer organizations a wireless network that transforms the way people and machines use data.Unlike previous network generations, 5G is now being seen as not just a consumer platform, but a primary communications platform that can also provide cloud connectivity and edge processing that can offer real-time business insights and automated responses, and eventually integrate the billions of Internet of things (物联网) devices and data that are available.
As travel companies have transformed their operations with new digital systems, their focus has moved from the technology itself to the improved business outcomes and enhanced guest and passenger experiences driven by the technology. 3.B With advanced connectivity speeds and low latency(延时), guests can share their personal data to receive custom recommendations from travel companies in real time that should provide meaningful experiences. 4.E For example, guests can involve themselves in viewing rooms and hotel facilities, or preview local attractions as they plan their trips.
To prepare to roll out this new technology, travel companies should ensure they have a thorough understanding of their guests’expectations on what makes a first-rank travel experience. 5.G
A.It also transforms the travel experience.
B.5G's capabilities can support that change.
C.5G offers a significant security guarantee definitely.
D.However, people haven't got well prepared for the 5G era.
E.Virtual experiences give guests an early taste of the destination.
F.5G opens up a new way of accessing information and delivering business value.
G.Then they should find ways to adapt their processes and services to meet them.
根据上文“It promotes operational cooperation tourism which we haven't experienced before.” 故选A。
根据本段中的“offer organizations a wireless network that transforms the way people and machines use data”和“offer real-time business insights and automated responses”以及“integrate the billions of Internet of things(物联网) devices and data”可知,本段主要介绍5G在转变数据处理方式以及提供商业价值方面的影响。
根据上文“As travel companies have transformed their operations with new digital systems...experiences driven by the technology.”
根据下文“For example, guests can involve themselves in viewing rooms and hotel facilities, or preview local attractions as they plan their trips.”

“ It has become 9.an exciting game for them,”Nicolas says.“They pick up the trash on the ground, and every day they 10.are rewarded (reward) for what they have done.”
故填has employed。
故填for。
故填responsibilities/responsibility。
故填what。
故填an。
故填are rewarded。
