一、教学目标
- 掌握本课重点词汇及短语:put in, make a mistake, put up, fill…with, not only… but also, advise, attend
2. 掌握本课重点句型:
He once tried to put in a brighter light in his bedroom, but he made a mistake.
Another time, he wanted to put up a picture on his bedroom wall, but he hit a pipe and filled the room with water.
Now the living room has not only blue walls but also a blue ceiling and floor.
I bought some books about DIY for him and I also advised him to take a course in DIY.
So instead, I am reading all the books myself and attending lessons every Saturday.

三、教学过程
Step1 Warming-up
Guide Ss to work in pairs and discuss the following questions.
(1) Are you good at DIY?
(2) What do you think is the best thing about DIY? Why?
(3) Do you have any problems with DIY?
(4) Who can you ask for DIY advice?

Step2 Pre-reading
Guide Ss to look at the picture and think about the questions.
(1) Who is this man in the picture?
(2) What is he crazy about?
【设计意图】通过问题,帮助学生回忆课文的相关内容,激活学生的记忆。
Step 3 While-reading
1. Guide Ss to read the passage and do the matching.
【设计意图】引导学生阅读课文,完成匹配练习,帮助学生梳理文章的结构及主要事件。
2. Guide Ss to read again and complete the conversation.
【设计意图】通过补全对话,帮助学生聚焦文章细节。
3. Guide Ss to act out the conversation in pairs.
【设计意图】通过两人一组,表演对话,加深学生对于对话大意的理解。
Step 4 Post-reading
1. Guide Ss to learn the language points in the passage.
