一、教学目标

4. Students can talk about the advantages and disadvantages of change.
5. Students can get to know the present perfect tense.

Comic strip
Step 1 Warming-up
1. Work in groups and talk about the changes around us.
2. Present pictures to help students know the changes around us.
(1) People (2) Transport (3) House (4) Environment
【设计意图】通过比较20世纪70年代和80年代的三大件与现代的三大件,激发学生积极思考,大胆讨论身边的变化。再用图片展示,引出in the past和at present,进入本课话题。
Step 2 Presentation
Let students watch a video about a conversation between Eddie and Hobo and answer the following questions.
1. What was in the bowl an hour ago?
2. Why did Eddie eat Hobo’s food?
Step 3 Practice
1. Let students listen and repeat the conversation in Comic strip. Pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.
2. Read and fill in the blanks based on the conversation in Comic strip.
3. Work in pairs and act out the comic strip.
4. Read and translate.
(1) Present sentences using the present perfect tense. Ask students to find more sentences.
(2) Ask students to translate the sentences into Chinese.
(3) Present more examples.
【设计意图】通过观看动画片段,让学生讨论Eddie和Hobo的变化,理解对话内容,并完成拓展练习。然后呈现例句,引导学生初步感知现在完成时的用法。

Step 1 Presentation
1. Look at a picture and talk about how people go back home for the Spring Festival.
2. Look at pictures about different forms of transport and finish Part A.
3. Listen to the conversation in Part B and then try to answer the following questions.
(1) How did Millie’s father go to school when he was a student?
(2) Why does Millie take a bus now?

Step 2 Practice
Talk about different transport used in the past and at present. Use the following model to make up new conversations.

2. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of change.

(2) What types of transportation do you prefer?
(3) Why should we choose public transport?
3. Let students travel by public transport and protect the earth.
