Reading (I)
一、教学目标
1. New words and phrases: since, ever, northern, married, wife, block, since, over, pollution, factory, waste, realize, improve, situation, however, impossible, before, lonely, anyway, husband, interview, turn…into…, in some ways, from time to time, all one’s life
2. New structures: Do you know Sunshine Town very well, Mr Chen?
I’ve lived here since I was born.
Has the town changed a lot over the years?
Now the government has turned part of the town into a new park.
It has become impossible for us to see each other as often as before.
Now I feel a bit lonely from time to time.
3. Read the article for the main idea of each part and the specific information.
4. Retell the changes in Sunshine Town and the feelings.
5. Discuss the changes in our city.

Step 1 Warming up
Present some pictures and get the students to know some new words and phrases.
【设计意图】通过图片介绍北京的变化,引出本课的核心词汇,让学生在情境中感知、学习和运用生词和短语,导入本课话题——城市的变化.
Step 2 Pre-reading
Discuss the question “If you are a reporter, what questions will you ask about the changes in Sunshine Town?”
【设计意图】设置语境,让学生融入课文角色,从记者的角度思考城市变化,引导学生关注采访的文本特征。
Step 3 While-reading
1. Skimming
(1) Read A and answer “How many questions does the interviewer ask?” “What are they?”
(2) Read the interview quickly and divide it into 3 parts. Let the students say the main idea of each part.
【设计意图】通过略读,引导学生了解文章的主题,同时让学生找出采访的五个问题,了解采访型文章的结构形式,并划分段落归纳段落大意,增强学生的整体篇章意识。
2. Scanning
(1) Read lines 1-6 and answer the questions.
a. How long has Mr Chen lived in Sunshine Town?
b. Where did Mr Chen and his wife move?
(2) Read lines 7-16 and compare the past and present.
(4) Read lines 17-23 and tell Mr Chen’s feeling about the changes in Sunshine Town.
【设计意图】通过寻读,指导学生获取具体信息,培养学生的扫读能力,复述第四部分,加深对本部分的理解。
3. Further reading
(1) Work on B3. Complete the conversation.
(2) Work on B4. Help Millie fill in blanks.
【设计意图】让学生全面理解篇章。检测学生对文章内容的掌握情况。
Step 4 Post-reading
1. Retell the story based on the given structures.
2. Have an interview. Work in pairs and discuss the changes in our hometown. One is a reporter from the TV Station, and the other is a local people. Make up a new dialogue according to the chart. Try to ask at least five questions about the topic.
3. Group discussion based on the following questions.
(1) Do you think life in our hometown is better now?
(2) Give more advice on how to improve our city.
【设计意图】创设真实情境,让学生谈论家乡的变化,有效地训练采访文体的常用表达,同时让学生给出进一步改善环境的建议,进行情感教育。
Step 5 Homework
Write an article about the changes in our hometown according to the discussion.
