Ouyang Honghong, a fireman in Nanjing, walks his 15-year-old dog named Bingjie at the hill. Bingjie, a black-and-white dog, is     1     as a hero as it once helped save 13 lives in the earthquake that hit Wenchuan County of Sichuan Province in 2008.     2     Binjie can no longer take part in rescue(救援) with Ouyang, it still waits for his orders. Its eyes are always on him while the trainer trains     3     young search and rescue dogs.

Bingjie and Ouyang became partners in 2007 during a dog training course. They finished difficult tasks together     5     earthquakes and snowstorms.

“No matter how     6     the task was, Bingie never thought about itself.” said Ouyang. “When we     7     a local kindergarten(幼儿园), Bingjie     8     rushed to the building that had fallen down and started barking() at a corner,” said Ouyang. “Then we     9     Bingjie to the corner and heard a child’s cry for help.”

    二、阅读单选

He wanted three months in a nice, warm prison, with food and good friends. This was how he usually spent his winters. And now it was time, because, at night on his seat in the square, three newspapers did not keep out the cold.

So Soapy decided to go to prison, and at once began to try his first plan. It was usually easy. He ate dinner in an expensive restaurant. Then he told them he had no money and they called a policeman. Nice and easy, with no trouble.

So Soapy left his seat, and walked slowly along the street. Soon he came to a bright restaurant on Broadway. Ah! This was all right. He just had to get to a table in the restaurant and sat down. That was all, because, when he sat down, people could only see his coat and his shirt, which were not very old. Nobody could see his trousers. He thought about the meal―not too expensive, but good.

But when Soapy went into the restaurant, the waiter saw Soapy’s dirty old trousers and terrible shoes. Strong hands turned him round and helped him out into the street again.

Now he had to think of something different. Soapy walked away from Broadway and soon he found himself on Six Avenue. He stopped in front of a shop’s window and looked at it. It was nice and bright, and everybody in the street could see him. Slowly and carefully he picked up a stone and threw it at the window. The glass broke with a loud noise. Soapy didn’t move and smiled. “I’ll be in prison now.” he thought.

The policeman came up to Soapy, “Who did that?” he asked.

    “Perhaps I did,” Soapy replied.

But the policeman knew that people who broke window did not stop to talk to the policeman. They ran away. And just then the policeman saw another man, who was running to catch a bus. So the policeman ran after him. Soapy watched for a minute. Then he walked away. No luck again! He began to feel cross (愤怒的).

11Where did Soapy usually spent his winter?

12What was his first plan to go into prison?

13Who threw Soapy into the street?

AThe policeman. BThe boss. CThe stranger. DThe waiter.

14How did Soapy feel after he broke the window?

15Why didn’t the policeman catch Soapy?

    ABecause Soapy didn’t run away.

DBecause the man who was running to catch a bus broke the window.

Snow forests make up about 30% of the world’s total forest areas. These wonderful woodlands are not as famous as the Amazon rainforests but they are just as important.

Snow forests are found in the far north of the world, in areas that are quite cold and usually have a lot of snowfall. They lie across parts of Canada, China, Finland, Japan, Norway, Russia, Sweden and the US. Snow forests have very cold winters that can last up to six months. But even so, they are home to many kinds of animals, including foxes, mice and wolves. In the US and Canada, as many as five billion birds from more than 300 species live in the forests in the breeding (繁殖) season.

These woodlands perform an important job: helping to take in harmful gases. The gases are given off by burning coal, oil and gas, which can cause climate change. However, snow forests are facing several problems. Trees are being cut down faster and faster for their wood, which can be used for building. Some forests are being cleared to make space for new roads and houses, or to allow coal and gas industries to grow. What’s worse, as the world gets warmer, Canada and Russia have seen terrible fires spread through the forests.

Luckily, environmental and wildlife groups around the world are working hard to protect snow forests. This means that cutting down trees is controlled in some areas and the forests are seen as areas of special scientific interest. When wood is needed, replanting plans and careful forest management help to reduce the human influence so that the forests are managed in a way that they can survive and regrow.

16Where are snow forests mainly found?

AIn South America. BIn the north of the earth.

CIn the UK and Canada. DIn the south of the earth.

17What do we know about snow forests from this passage?

AThey need a long time to grow up.

BThey are famous just like rainforests.

CThey produce best wood for building.

DThey are important to many animals and birds.

18What mainly causes snow forests to be in danger?

    AHeavy snowfall. BAir pollution.

    CHuman activities. DAnimals’ waste.

19What’s the purpose of this passage?

ATo call on us to protect snow forests. BTo invite people to visit snow forests.

CTo compare rainforests to snow forests. DTo describe the wildlife in snow forests.

20What does the writer think of snow forests’ future?

    AHopeful. BAwful. CDoubtful. DWonderful.

When talking about obeying rules, Abby will never forget her experience with her father and her pet Tobias, a small mouse at the airport years ago.

One day, Abby’s father was taking her to visit her grandmother and they are not allowed to take a mouse into another country. It was a rule. But Abby put the mouse into her sock in her bag secretly without telling her dad. When they arrived at the airport, they had to be checked by the X-ray machine. Abby felt her legs shaking and her heart beating fast unexpectedly, they passed.

On the plane, Abby opened up the bag after her dad and the woman next to her fell asleep. Tobias was excited to jump out from the bag. He landed upside down on the woman’s knee. The woman screamed loudly so that many people on the plane heard the voice. At that moment, Abby put Tobias into her bag quickly. But her dad didn’t know at all but slept.

After they landed, Abby’s dad ticked (打勾)NO on a paper to, “Are you bringing any live animals into the country?” But a man at the X-ray machine asked Abby to open her bag. Abby had to open and pulled out the sock. Then the man led Abby and her father into a small, dark room. There were some people in uniforms. Tobias was in the sock on the desk. One police officer talked to Abby’s dad. “This is very serious,” he said. “You have tried to smuggle (偷运) an animal into this country and you have lied on the paper” “It’s my fault,” Abby said in a small voice, “Dad didn’t know I had Tobias?” The police officer stared at her, “What’s your name? Have you ever been in trouble before?” Abby opened her mouth, but no sound came out. At last, her dad had to pay a big fine (罚款) for what Abby did. It cost a lot of money. And Tobias had to go into quarantine (隔离检疫)for six months.

It must be a real lesson for Abby. From then on, she never breaks the rules any more.

21From the underlined sentence “Abby felt her legs shaking and her heart beating fast.” in Paragraph 2, we may know Abby felt ________.

BBecause the X-ray machine went wrong.

CBecause they are against the law and had to pay a big fine.

23Which is the correct order of the story?

    a. Abby put Tobias into the sock in her bag.

    b. Tobias was sent to quarantine for half a year.

    c. They succeeded in passing through the X-ray machine.

    d. Tobias jumped onto a woman’s knee and scared her a lot.

    Aacdb Bacbd Cdcba Ddbca

24How is the passage organized ?

    A B C D

25What lesson can we learn from Abby’s experience?
