B
I was born without hands and feet. It is a rare condition. Living with that misfortune has made me who I am today.
My parents helped me develop tools to overcome my challenges. When I was two, my dad decided that my family would stop helping me eat. He knew that one day I’d live on my own, so I’d have to look after myself. I learned to eat with a spoon, and then with a knife and fork. It gave me a huge sense of achievement.
My darkest moment came when I was 10. My family had moved from Indiana to Georgia. In Indiana, friends treated me as normal. But in Georgia, it was different. I felt very aware of my disability. I worried I’d have to live at home forever. I felt hopeless about the future.
My world changed when I got into sports. I started playing football. Everything came together when I made my first tackle (抢断球) at age 11. It was my first real achievement.
Everyone I played against was able-bodied. At first, I struggled. But I threw everything I had into learning to be the best player. I turned my lack of height into a weapon.
Then I decided to start wrestling (摔跤). I lost 35 games, but then I had a breakthrough. I had an amazing coach who helped me invent moves that took advantage of my strength. My different body type was a psychological advantage-opponents (对手) didn’t know how to handle it. I eventually finished 12th in the103-pound weight class in the championships.
I keep going in the face of difficulties. Instead of thinking about the final goal, I focus on the near future. When I’m climbing a mountain, I’m down on all fours looking at the ground. It’s not going to do me any good to look up at the top.
I just figure out how to do the best I can with the next few feet in front of me.
24.Why did the parents stop helping the writer eat?
A.To give him a sense of achievement. B.To let him get used to the new tools.
C.To push him to be more independent. D.To prepare him for his new life in Georgia.
25.How did the writer feel about his new life in Georgia at first?
A.Excited. B.Relaxed.
C.Anxious. D.Disappointed.
26.How did the writer become good at wrestling?
A.By training himself independently. B.By learning from different opponents.
C.By developing a psychological advantage. D.By learning how to better use his strength.
27.What is the writer’s attitude toward life?
A.He concentrates on what’s directly ahead. B.He highly values the final goal.
C.He complains a lot about his misfortune. D.He dreams big despite his disability.

While ChatGPT successfully answered a variety of questions raised by testers, some responses were noticeably off. In fact, Stack Overflow — a Q&A website for coders and programmers — didn’t allow users to share information from ChatGPT, saying that it’s “harmful to the site and to users who are asking or looking for correct answers.”
Beyond the issue of spreading incorrect information, the tool could also be used to explain problematic thoughts, and as with all AI tools, spread biases(偏见) based on the pool of data on which it’s trained. Typing something involving a CEO, for example, could prompt(激起) a response assuming that the individual is white and male, for example.
“While we’ve made efforts to make the model refuse unsuitable requests, it will sometimes respond to harmful instructions or exhibit biased behavior,” OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT, said on its website. “We’re using the Moderation API to warn or stop certain types of unsafe content, but it still has some false negatives and positives for now. We’re eager to collect user feedback(反馈) to aid our ongoing work to improve this system.”
Still, Lian Jye Su, a research director at market research company ABI Research, warns the chatbot is operating “without understanding the context of the language.”
“It is very easy for ChatGPT to give plausible-sounding(听起来合理) but incorrect or senseless answers,” he said. “It guessed when it was supposed to explain and sometimes responded to harmful instructions or exhibited biased behavior. It also lacks regional and country-specific understanding.”
While ChatGPT is free, it does put a limit on the number of questions a user can raise before having to pay. When Elon Musk, a co-founder of OpenAI, recently asked Altman on Twitter about the average cost per ChatGPT chat, Altman said: “We will have to monetize(货币化) it somehow at some point; the compute costs are eye-watering.”
28.Why does the author mention Stack Overflow?
A.To show how narrow-minded it is.
B.To illustrate the negative influence of ChatGPT.
C.To reveal the competition it has with ChatGPT.
D.To indicate ChatGPT’s strong ability in problem solving.
29.What is the 3 paragraph mainly about?
A.The efforts OpenAI make for improvement. B.The reason for the use of Moderation API.
C.The problem OpenAI is now facing. D.The success in solving OpenAI’s problem.
30.Why does ChatGPT have problems?
A.It does not understand human language. B.It mainly works through guessing.
C.It cannot respond properly based on contexts. D.It holds bias on some specific regions.
31.What does the word “eye-watering” in the last paragraph most probably mean?
A.extremely high B.very harmful
C.quite necessary D.too average
28.B 29.A 30.C 31.A
根据文章第一段“In fact, Stack Overflow — a Q&A website for coders and programmers — didn’t allow users to share information from ChatGPT, saying that it’s “harmful to the site and to users who are asking or looking for correct answers.”(事实上,Stack Overflow——一个面向程序员和程序员的问答网站——不允许用户分享来自ChatGPT的信息,称这“对网站和询问或寻找正确答案的用户有害”。)”
根据文章第三段““While we’ve made efforts to make the model refuse unsuitable requests, it will sometimes respond to harmful instructions or exhibit biased behavior,”(开发ChatGPT的OpenAI公司在其网站上表示:“虽然我们已经努力让模型拒绝不合适的请求,但它有时会对有害的指令做出反应或表现出偏见行为。”)” 故选A项。
根据文章第四段“Still, Lian Jye Su, a research director at market research company ABI Research, warns the chatbot is operating “without understanding the context of the language.”(尽管如此,市场研究公司ABI research的研究总监苏连杰警告说,聊天机器人的操作“没有理解语言的上下文”。)”
根据文章最后一段“While ChatGPT is free, it does put a limit on the number of questions a user can raise before having to pay. When Elon Musk, a co-founder of OpenAI, recently asked Altman on Twitter about the average cost per ChatGPT chat, Altman said: “We will have to monetize(货币化) it somehow at some point; (虽然ChatGPT是免费的,但它确实限制了用户在付费之前可以提出的问题数量。当OpenAI的联合创始人埃隆·马斯克(Elon Musk)最近在Twitter上问奥特曼每次聊天的平均成本时,奥特曼说:“我们必须在某个时候以某种方式将其货币化)”可知,如果想更好地使用ChatGPT,需要付费。而当马斯克询问另一个创始人每次聊天的平均成本,奥特曼认为必须要收费,因为成本问题。由此可以推测出,计算成本一定非常高。故选A项。
D
China is recognized as a world leader in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and facial recognition systems. A Chinese company says it has created a new facial recognition system that can identify people even if they are wearing masks. Engineers at the Beijing-based company say their system is the first to be created to effectively identify people wearing face masks.
The company told a news agency that a team of 20 people built the system in about a month. The system is based on existing technologies developed over the past 10 years. The process involved adding a collection of about 6 million unmasked faces and a much smaller collection of masked faces, the company said.
The company is now selling two main kinds of products that use the new technology. One performs “single channel” recognition, which is designed to be used at the entrances to buildings. The other product is a “multi-channel” recognition system that uses groups of surveillance (监视) cameras. It can identify individuals in a crowd of up to 30 people within a second.
“When people are wearing a mask that covers the mouth and the nose, the recognition rate can reach about 95%, which can ensure that most people can be identified,” said Huang, vice president of the company. He added that the system’s success rate for people not wearing a mask is about 99.5%.
However, the new system struggles to identify people wearing both a mask and sunglasses. “In this situation, all of the key facial information is lost. In such cases recognition is tough,” Huang said.
People react to the new technology differently. While some citizens have been against using such tools, the majority have accepted the technology as an effective way to reduce crime and catch criminals.
32.What did the company do to build the system?
A.It gathered many face images. B.It used the latest technology.
C.It added a collection of masks. D.It employed hundreds of people.
33.What can we know about the new system?
A.Its success rate is affected by cameras. B.It recognizes groups of people in seconds.
C.Its performance changes with the location. D.It does better in identifying unmasked faces.
34.What is the author’s attitude towards the new system?
A.Negative. B.Doubtful. C.Objective. D.Supportive.
35.What can be the best title for the text?(自创)
A.An Effective Way to Reduce Crime B.Benefits of a New Facial Recognition System
C.The Development of AI D.A New Facial Recognition System
32.A 33.D 34.C 35.D
根据文章第二段“The system is based on existing technologies developed over the past 10 years. The process involved adding a collection of about 6 million unmasked faces and a much smaller collection of masked faces, the company said.(该系统基于过去10年开发的现有技术。该公司表示,这个过程包括添加大约600万张未戴面具的脸和一个小得多的戴面具的脸)”可知,公司是收集了许多人脸图像来建立这个系统的。故选A项。
根据文章第四段“When people are wearing a mask that covers the mouth and the nose, the recognition rate can reach about 95%, which can ensure that most people can be identified,(当人们戴着遮住口鼻的口罩时,识别率可以达到95%左右,可以保证大多数人都能被识别出来)”和“He added that the system’s success rate for people not wearing a mask is about 99.5%.(他补充说,该系统对不戴口罩的人的成功率约为99.5%)”可知,该系统在识别未戴面具的面孔方面做得更好。
While some citizens have been against using such tools, the majority have accepted the technology as an effective way to reduce crime and catch criminals.(人们对新技术的反应不同。虽然一些公民反对使用这些工具,但大多数人都认为这项技术是减少犯罪和抓捕罪犯的有效方法)”可推知,作者只是客观介绍了一种新的面部识别系统,和人们对这一系统的不同观点,所以作者的态度应该是客观的。故选C项。
35.【D】主旨大意题。根据第一段中的“A Chinese company says it has created a new facial recognition system that can identify people even if they are wearing masks. Engineers at the Beijing-based company say their system is the first to be created to effectively identify people wearing face masks.(一家中国公司表示,他们已经开发出一种新的面部识别系统,即使人们戴着口罩也能识别出来。这家总部位于北京的公司的工程师表示,他们的系统是第一个能够有效识别戴口罩的人的系统)”及下文可知,文章主要介绍了一种新的面部识别系统,即使人们戴着口罩也能识别他们。由此可知,D选项“一种新的面部识别系统”能概括全文内容,适合用作文章标题。故选D项。

From writing Shakespeare-style poetry to making music, ChatGPT has amazed the world since its launch in late 2022 by the US-based company Open AI. The AI program can answer questions on a whole host of topics, and write essays, stories and any other written texts you can think of. It does this by drawing on information collected from a large corpus (语料库) of text data.
___36___ As Sam Altman, the CEO of Open AI, said in an interview with Forbes, “it’s not actually fundamentally new technology that made this (ChatGPT) have a moment.”

Some argue that ChatGPT will be used to generate fake news, spread misunderstanding, or be used for ill purposes. As for education, many US schools recently banned students from using ChatGPT on school networks since students began to use it as a shortcut for essays and research projects. ___40___
A.Why is ChatGPT so questionable?

36.【B】根据空后“As Sam Altman, the CEO of Open AI, said in an interview with Forbes, “it’s not actually fundamentally new technology that made this (ChatGPT) have a moment.” (正如Open AI公司的首席执行在一次采访中说道:‘实际上并不是新技术让这项技术(ChatGPT)有了一席之地’。 )”可知,空后提出并不是新的技术让ChatGPT有了一席之地,故此处B项“什么让ChatGPT如此的令人印象深刻呢?”符合语境,本空出提出问题,空后用Sam Altman在采访中的话回答问题,故选B项。
37.【F】根据空后“Transformer can therefore understand the meaning of texts more accurately with the help of the context. (因此,Transformer可以在上下文的帮助下更准确地理解文本的意思。)”可知,空后提出了结果,故F项“通过判断单词出现在句子中的位置来推断单词的意思。”符合,F项说明原因,它可以根据单词在句中的位置来判断其意思,因此能更准确地理解文本的意思,故选F项。

39.【C】根据空后“So, at this point, ChatGPT doesn’t know the truth about the world, yet. (因此,在这一点上,ChatGPT还不知道世界的真相。)”可知,空后给出结果,因此它不知道世界的真相,故此处C项“然而,决定什么是真的,什么是假的又是另一回事了。”符合,因为它无法决定什么是真,什么是假,因此它并不知道世界的真相,故选C项。
40.【D】根据空前“As for education, many US schools recently banned students from using ChatGPT on school networks since students began to use it as a shortcut for essays and research projects. (对于教育,很多美国学校最近禁止学生在学校网络上使用ChatGPT,因为学生开始将它作为论文和研究项目的快捷方式。)”可知,空前提出学校禁止学生使用,是因为学生通过它在学习上走捷径,故D项“长话短说,正确使用强大的AI 还需要时间。”符合,因为学生的不正当使用,因此正确使用AI还需要时间,故选D项。

(2022春·湖南岳阳·高一期末统考)There was no sign that the earthquake was coming.
A 7.8 magnitude (震级) quake almost flattened the city, killing over thousands of lives in less than a few minutes.
In the midst of destruction and chaos, a father left his wife securely at home and rushed to the school where his son Daniel was supposed to be, only to discover that the building was as flat as a pancake.
After the upsetting shock, he remembered the promise he had made to Daniel: “No matter what, I’ll always be there for you!” And tears began to fill his eyes. He looked at the pile of ruins that once was the school. Everything looked hopeless, but he kept remembering his commitment to his son.
He began to concentrate on where he walked his son to class at school each morning. Remembering his son’s classroom would be in the back right corner of the building, he rushed there and started digging through the stones and bricks.
As he was digging, other anxious parents arrived, heartbroken, shouting desperately: “Mary!” “Sam!”
Some other well-meaning parents tried to pull him off what was left of the school, saying: “It’s too late!” “They’re dead!” “You can’t help!” “Go home!” “Come on! There’s nothing you can do here!” “You’re just going to make things worse!”
To each parent he responded with one line: “Are you going to help me now?”
And then he continued to dig for his son, stone by stone.
Some firefighters showed up and tried to pull him off the school’s ruins, saying, “Fires are breaking out, and explosions are happening everywhere. You’re in danger. We’ll take care of it. Just go home!” To which this loving, determined father asked, “Are you going to help me now?”
The fire chief replied, “You’re angry and worried. I get it. But you are not helping by staying here. Just go home. We will help you find your son!” To which he replied, “But I promised my son I’ll always be there for him.”

Courageously, he went alone because he needed to know for himself: “Is my boy alive or is he dead?”.He dug for hours and hours. His hands were mushy and he could only see well in flashes. Right before he was about to pass out, he pulled back a large rounded rock and heard his son’s voice. He screamed his son’s name, “DANIEL!” A response came from below, “Dad? It’s me, Dad!” This must be the most beautiful voice he’s ever heard in his whole life! “What’s going on in there? How is it?” the father asked anxiously.
“I’m fine. There are 13 other kids down here, Dad,” Daniel replied. “We’re scared, hungry, and thirsty. When the building collapsed, it made a triangle and saved us.” The father realized that this was a tricky situation. He couldn’t risk causing another collapse down there. Fortunately, the firefighters were just nearby. The father shouted to the fire chief and signalled to them to come over. Then, the father helped the firefighters cautiously remove the rocks and pulled out the kids one by one. When everyone was safe and sound, Daniel threw himself into his father’s arms: “You did it, Dad! No matter what, I know you’ll be there for me!”
