With the reading month approaching, I’m here to call on all of you to do more reading.

Reading can benefit us a lot. First, it can enrich our minds and teach us to distinguish between right and wrong, which lays a solid foundation for further learning. Furthermore, as a famous writer put it, “Reading a good book is like talking with a noble man.” By reading books, we can gain the wisdom helping us solve practical problems in our daily life. All in all, the advantages of reading are beyond description.

Let’s take action to do more reading. Only through reading can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired and success achieved.

At one point Frank looked at me with tears in his eyes as if recalling something. Hardly had the words telling my father was genuinely the Santa Claus escaped from his trembling lips when my emphasizing look changed into an astonished one. Recalling every letter answered in time, I was choked with gratitude, my eyes moistened with tears. Flakes were still whirling while a sparkle of light zigzagged across the sky, casting warmth onto my heart. Frank’s stories went on and notably conveyed in his tone was pursuit for the gone era. “Your father always considered others’ pleasure as his own,” Frank’s remark occurred to me like a clap of thunder, planting a seed of dedication rooted in my heart.

Thinking of my father’s philosophy of pleasure, I resolved to be this year’s Santa Claus. Enduring the needle-like wind howling ruthlessly, I made my way to the lamp poles, carefully fumbling for the old letters. Mature as the previous kids were now, I still put pen to paper to respond the innocence with the signature of Santa Claus. When I brought every letter to every original address, the owners’ eyebrows lifted high but then soothed as I explained to them. Spotting the pleased looks on their faces, I felt a surge of warmth circulating through my body. After waving them farewell, I slackened my steps in the snow and wandered around the familiar road, lost in thought of the past golden days that would never fade away.
