【基础知识】

1. be made of和be made from的区别

1). be made of后跟物质名词，意为“由……制成”，制作过程中材料发生物理变化，仍可看出原材料，如：

The table is made of wood.  这张桌子是木头做的。

2). be made from也表示“由……制成”，但在制作过程中，材料发生化学变化，成品已看不出来原材料是什么，如：

This kind of paper is made from wood.  这种纸张是用木头做的。

2. I am lying on the bed and watching TV. 我正躺在床上看电视。

Lie不及物动词，意为“躺，平躺”，其现在分词lying.

e.g. He lies on the bed all day. 他整日躺在床上。

【拓展】（1）lie用作不及物动词，还可意为“位于”，常与表示方位的短语连用。

Japan lies to the east of China.  日本位于中国的东面。

（2）lie用作可数名词，意为“谎言，谎话”。

It is wrong to tell a lie.  撒谎是错误的。

3. They are fit for a long walk. 它们适合走远路。

be fit for意为“适合”，fit形容词，意为“适合的，恰当的”。

【拓展】be fit for sth. /sb.  适合某事/某人   be fit to do sth.适宜做某事

e.g. Long fingers are fit for playing the piano.  长手指适合弹钢琴。

I don’t know if I am fit for the job.  我不知道我是否适合做这份工作。

4. I can spend ten more minutes in bed then.那么我可以在床上再待10分钟了。

spend此处用作及物动词，意为“花费，度过”。

e.g. He spends too much time on computer games. 他花太多时间玩电脑游戏。

辨析：spend，pay，cost与take

5. tie领带

tie此处用作可数名词，意为“领带”。

e.g. His red tie matches his suit very well.    他的红色领带和西装非常相配。

【拓展】tie可用作及物动词或不及物动词，意为“系，绑，栓，扎”，tie的现在分词形式为tying，tie...to...意为“把......拴到......上”。

He ties the cow to a tree. 他把奶牛拴到了一棵树上。

6. Can you lend us your red blouse for our fashion show, Mum?妈妈，你能把你的红衬衫借给我们参加时装表演吗？

lend及物动词，意为“借给，借出”，表示“自己”借给“他人”。常用结构：lend sb sth 或lend sth to sb.意为“借给某人某物”。

Can you lend me your ruler? = Can you lend your ruler to me?    把你的尺子借给我好吗？

一言辨析：她向同桌借来一本英语词典，并把一支钢笔借给了朋友。

She borrows an English dictionary from her deskmate and lends a pen to her friend.

7. Oh, it’s too large for me... 哦，那对我来说太大了...

be too +adj+for sb.意为“对于某人来说过于......”

e.g. 做家务对我来说太容易了。 It’s too easy for me to do housework.

放弃梦想对他来说很难。 It’s too hard for him to give up dreams.

【拓展】be too + adj+to do sth.意为“太......以致不能做某事”。

他太小了，不能去上学。 He is too young to go to school.
