【Teaching Procedure:】
Step1:Warm-up:

Step2: Pre-reading
Present a picture of Chinese calligraphy and the Chinese character for "eternity" (永). Ask students to share their thoughts on the artwork and discuss what they think the article might be about.
Step3:While-Reading
Activity 1: Vocabulary Exploration
Provide a list of key vocabulary from the article and have students look up their meanings. Ask students to use the vocabulary in sentences to demonstrate their understanding.
Activity 2: Reading and Comprehension
Divide the class into small groups and assign sections of the article to each group.
Instruct each group to read their assigned section and identify the main points and supporting details. Have each group present their findings to the class, fostering discussion and addressing any questions.
Activity 3: Timeline of the Chinese Writing System
Create a timeline on the board that shows the development of the Chinese writing system from pictograms to modern characters.
