For more than 30 years, Zhu Yanjun, 50, had been a migrant worker (农民工) in different cities like many others from rural areas. But what made him different was his strong love for reading poetry and books.
In early February, Zhu made headlines by winning a silver medal in the yearly Chinese Poetry Competition hosted by China Central Television.
Born in a village in Jingning county, Gansu province, Zhu only had a middle school education. His love for reading was inspired by his Chinese language teacher who has published many articles in magazines. “I also wanted to publish stories, so I started to read, and borrowed books from friends and classmates,” he told China Daily.
Although Zhu later regretted putting an early end to his schooling, he did not stop his poetic journey. He worked at different construction sites in more than 10 cities. Whenever he arrives in a city, he first visits the bookstores and libraries there. He would take a notebook with him in order to write down paragraphs from the books and recite them.
He started reading poems from the Tang Dynasty because he found them rhythmic (有韵律的) and easy to remember. Over the years, he has read thousands of poems and can recite more than 1,000 of them.
Reading poetry helps Zhu stay calm and he never complains (抱怨) about hard work. “I hope I can help people around me enjoy the charm of Chinese poetry.” Zhu said.

When ChatGPT, a chatbot(聊天机器人), launched last year, it had more than a million users within(在……之内)a week—and was quickly banned(禁止)in some schools across the US. The powerful technology uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help students research, write stories and emails, translate languages, and answer all kinds of questions. Parents and teachers were concerned that students might turn in work done by a chatbot rather than do it themselves. But others think chatbots are a great learning tool and that students and teachers need to work out how to use them responsibly. What do you think? Should chatbots be banned in schools?
Group Yes●Getting help with schoolwork is great, but Chatbots don’t check their sources or check for facts. Students might hand in classwork with false or incomplete information. What’s worse, they wouldn’t really be learning the material or using their own thinking skills to do the work.
●Students who use chatbots could cheat, and teachers can’t keep up.
    ● People say chatbots can help teachers by grading papers and tests quickly, but who wants their work graded by a machine instead of a human?
Group No● Technology is changing education. Why not teach kids to use chatbots responsibly, like they use online dictionaries? Chatbots could serve as a starting point for learning by guiding research, teaching vocabulary, and helping students come out with the next step of a difficult problem.
●They could let students practice public speaking and thinking skills.
    ● Chatbots can give teachers a hand by creating tests, homework tasks, and lesson plans.
56.Which picture can show the increasing numbers of Chat GPT users?
    A. B.
    C. D.
57.Some parents and teachers worried that students might use chatbots to ________.
    A.finish schoolwork B.grade papers
C.make lesson plans D.create homework tasks
58.“Group No” suggests that Chatbots can make students ________.
A.check for facts B.build some skills
C.use online dictionaries D.get bad information
59.What opinion do the two groups have in common?
    A.Chatbots can help teachers work.
    B.Chatbots can help teachers relax.
    C.Chatbots make students think more.
    D.Chatbots make students learn responsibly.
60.What is the text mainly about?
A.What ChatGPT can do for students.
    B.How ChatGPT changes education.
C.Ways of using ChatGPT in school.
    D.Different opinions on ChatGPT.

Being confident isn’t just about what you know or think; confidence comes from how you feel in your body too.
If your shoulders are hunched (驼背的) and your head’s down, you feel differently to the way you feel when you’re sitting or standing straight with your head up and your shoulders back. Try it for yourself. How do you feel now?
Research has found that when you’re hunched with your arms and legs crossed and looking down, your body releases (释放) chemicals that can make you feel more stressed or worried. Young people’s coach Maria Evans says your body and brain are connected. “When you stand with your back tall, legs apart (分开) and hands on hips, your body sends the message to your mind that you feel confident and strong.”
Your body language doesn’t just affect how you feel, it tells other people how nervous or brave you feel too. Think about someone you see as confident how do they carry themselves? Bring to mind a movie or TV character you admire for being brave or strong and picture how they sit, stand or walk. See if you can do the same.
If you’re feeling nervous, perhaps before you sit a test or do something new, you can feel more confident by taking a power posture (姿势). Sit or stand up straight with both feet planted on the ground. Stretch your arms out above your head. Keep your shoulders down and your head up to help you keep the confident feeling. Evans suggests doing a power posture for a few minutes before school. Notice how it makes you and how your mood has changed and become more positive.
    61.Paragraph 2 mainly tells us________.
A.sitting straight is good B.keeping shoulders down is bad
C.feelings are important to us D.postures may affect feelings
62.What can we learn from Paragraph 3?
A.Chemicals in your arms make you worried.
B.A correct posture makes you feel more confident.
C.Young people prefer standing with their back tall.
D.Your body sends the message to keep you calm.
63.What does the underlined word “they” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
    A.Body languages. B.Nervous feelings.
    C.Confident people. D.Brave persons.
64.Which of the following pictures shows a power posture?
    A. B. C. D.
65.What can be the best title for the text?
A.Using Body Languages B.Building Yourself Up
C.Feeling More Confident D.Being Brave Enough

【原文】Cooking should be considered as art just like any other activity which requires skills and knowledge. The following will explain why cooking should be taught in schools.
Cooking helps develop a life skill. Students can depend on themselves when they are at home alone. Also, they can know how to make a living in the future. And cooking helps discover future jobs. When schools offer cooking lessons, students will be interested in taking cooking as a job. What’s more, cooking avoids wasting money. The students always use much money to buy ready-made food, while they could prepare a nice meal with less cost. Cooking betters math learning. Students even learn to cook by following the instructions in a standard. It means there is no more or less.

On that day, after my classmates and I arrived at the Sunshine Nursing Home, we did some cleaning, such as washing their clothes, cleaning the floor and the windows. Then we put on shows for the old people, like singing lovely songs, performing funny plays and so on. After that, we had a chat with the old people happily. They also told us some funny stories that happened at their early age. We listened carefully. The old people felt very excited and happy.
From the meaningful activities, I think we should care for the old more and respect them. And I have a better understanding of Lei Feng’s spirit.
