    Unit 2 If you ever go to London, make sure you visit the Science Museum.

     

    一、教学目标

    1. 能够掌握下列词汇:

    Words: communications, physics, chemistry, dig, coal, energy, sand, control, truck, wheel, whole

    Phrases: compare... with..., of all ages

    2. 能够掌握下列句型:

    (1) If you want answers to all your questions about science, this is the right place for you.

    (2) In most museums, there is no shouting and no running.

    (3) If you compare the medicine of the past with the medicine of today, you will feel very lucky next time you visit a doctor!

    (4) So if you ever go to London, make sure you visit the Science Museum.

    3. 能够读懂有关博物馆的文章,并完成相关练习。

    4. 能够描写自己最喜爱的博物馆并正确使用代词it, they, there

    Step I Warm-up

    1. Look and say

    (1) Ask Ss to say the date.

    (2) T shows some information about International Museum Day.

    2. Look at the picture and talk about the museum rules.

    Ask Ss to talk about the pictures.

    (1) Do you know any museum rules? What are they?

    (2) When we visit a museum, what should we pay attention to?

    设计意图:利用图片展示博物馆并询问学生博物馆的参观规则,吸引学生注意力,引入本课时话题。

    Step II Pre-reading

    Activity 1

    Let Ss look at the two pictures in Activity 1 and talk about the differences between the two museums.

    Step III While-reading

    Activity 2

    Let Ss read the passage and answer the question.

    How is the Science Museum different from other museums?

    Activity 3

    Ask Ss to complete the Tony’s favourite museum column in the table. Volunteers say their answers.

    Activity 4

    1. Ask Ss to review the words in the box and make sure they know the meaning of the words.

    2. Tell Ss to answer the questions. They can use the words in the box.

    What can you learn about in the rooms on the second and third floors?

    What allows you to see inside your body?

    What can you do in the Launchpad?

    What can you learn about on the fourth and fifth floors?

    3. Ask volunteers to retell the passage in Activity 2.

    Step IV Post-reading

    Cultural Background

    Introduce several kinds of museums to Ss.

    4. 水下博物馆

    5. 香蕉博物馆

    6. 间谍博物馆

    设计意图:通过介绍几种类型的博物馆,帮助学生了解相关文化背景知识、拓展知识面。

    Activity 5

    1. Ss decide what the underlined words in the sentences refer to.

    2. Ask some Ss to give their answers and check with all the Ss.

    Activity 6

    1. Ss complete the passage with it, they and there.

    2. T chooses one S to read the passage and checks the answers with all the Ss.

    Activity 7

    1. Ask Ss to complete Your favourite museum column in the table in Activity 3.

    2. Ask Ss to write a passage. They can use the table and Activities 2 and 6 to help them.

    Are there many museums in your town?

    Which one is your favourite?

    What is special about the museum?

    What can you see or do there?

    3. T analyses the topic of this module and the writing ideas.

    Learning to learn

    T: When you write, you can use pronouns such as it, he, her, this, there… to avoid repetition. But remember to check whether the reference is clear or not.
