Step I Warm-up
Chain game:
A: If I have a car, I will go to Beijing.
B: If I go to Beijing, I will see the Great Wall.
C: If I see the Great wall, I will be happy.
D: If I am happy, I will ….

设计意图:引出if引导的条件状语从句话题,学生小组顺序说出想法,即巩固了所学语法,又增强了实际运用能力。针对语法的练习也加强了学生对语法规律的掌握。
Step II Practice
Activity 6
1. Ask Ss to read the three problems on page 48 and then give their advice about each problem. For example,
A: Don’t care about the result too much. The most important thing is that you attend it and do your best.
B: You should have a talk with Linda and let her know that there is no bigger part, but better actor. We should try to be better actors.
C: You should help Peter to understand the work and persuade him to do it by himself.
2. Ss discuss and choose the best advice.
设计意图:本活动既可以扩大学生的词汇量,让学生进一步了解与课文相关的阅读材料,又能培养学生的表达能力,通过模拟不同的情况训练学生给出不同的建议,学习联系实际。
Activity 7
Ask Ss to listen to the conversation and answer the questions.
1. Ss read the questions quickly before listening.
2. T plays the recording.
3. Ask Ss to answer the questions. Listen again if necessary.
设计意图:本活动主要训练学生听和获取细节信息的能力。教师要指导学生边听边进行速记,记录关键信息。
Around the world
T: Next we’ll read about advice columns. Advice columns can be often found in magazines or newspapers, or now you can find them online. If you have any problems in your life, you can post them and get expert advice.
1. Ss read the passage quickly.
2. T shows the passage with some key words missing and asks Ss to fill in the blanks.
设计意图:本栏目介绍了起源于18世纪西方报纸和杂志为人排忧解惑的栏目——建议专栏,学生阅读了解相关信息。
Step III Production
Module task: Writing a problem page for a magazine
Activity 8
1. T: Work in pairs, talk about your problems.
2. Ask Ss to choose a problem and write a letter about the problem.
设计意图:学生两人一组活动,挑选自己比较关注的问题,模仿课文书信格式,进行描述,锻炼学生的写作能力。
Activity 9
T:Now work in groups, read each problem, discuss the advice for each problem and then write down the advice.
设计意图:学生进行小组活动,了解大家提出的问题,并就问题发表自己的看法,最后就所总结的建议进行写作,继续锻炼学生的写作能力。
Activity 10
T: Now your task is to make a problem page.
1. Ss design a problem page according to what they discussed and wrote.
2. Each one displays the problem page for other students to read.
3. Choose the best ones.
Writing ideas
T analyses the topic of this module and the writing ideas.
设计意图:本活动要求各小组整理各自的问题和建议,制作可以展示出来的页面,训练学生的实际操作技能。通过“描述生活中遇到的问题和烦恼”写作思路的讲解,帮助学生掌握相关话题的写作技巧。

Suppose you are Lucy, your pen friend Mary wrote a letter to you and told you about her problem.
She loves running and her dream is to be a professional player. She wants to practice it as much as possible, but her parents want her to study hard and go to a university. Please write a reply and give her some of your advice.
