Our family is very familiar with wild animals. We lived in the mountains. There were a number of things we were taught as children that most "city folk' don't understand. Here are a few stories between us and wild animals.
I think I was 15 when this happened. It was 5:30am on a cold winter morning. It had just started to snow heavily, and I went out to feed the chickens in my back yard. I don't know why the door of the yard was open that night. At daybreak, my father came in and asked me if I had seen anything unusual. I replied that I hadn't. He took me out and showed me bear tracks right next to mine. Obviously, the bear had been frightened of me and left. I wasn't brave, it was good luck for me.
A few years ago, my husband, father and I went up to Mountain Baldy. At the top, many people were enjoying picnics. Some deer came wandering out, and some people fed them. Some even tried to pet them. We also gave them some food. When they went into the woods, some people followed them.
Our next door neighbor even fed a wolf. She offered her dog food and put out table scraps. The animal came on time for the foods. No matter how we tried to get her to stop, she couldn't. Wildlife is just wild. Feeding it doesn't really help it. Feeding it isn't safe for you; you could be attacked especially by the fierce wild animals.
(1)Why did the author say he was lucky that early morning?
A.After he left the bear went to the back yard.
B.The bear couldn't get close to him as the yard door closed.
C.The bear has left long before he went to the back yard.
D.The bear feared him and left before he knew.
(2)Why were many people at the top of Mount Baldy?
    A.To play games.
    B.To feed deer.
    C.To have a picnic.
    D.To watch the deer.
(3)The author writes this passage only to tell us _________.
A.it is not safe for people to feed wild animals
B.some stories between people and wild animals
C.we should do something to protect wild animals
D.people are sometimes unsafe in the mountainous area

As the world's resources become rarer because of continuing land development and the growing human population, the natural habitats of wild animals have continued to decrease. As a result, the survival of some species of wildlife is threatened. To help protect wildlife, a lot of practices should be carried out by environmentalist as well as the general public.
Create homes for species that are endangered because of losing their own natural habitats. Wildlife shelters should be developed, and habitats should be created in existing(现存的) national parks. Efforts(努力) should also be made to protect existing habits, such as providing food and water sources and limiting hunting. Breed(培育) endangered species in places such as zoos. Once the young animals grow up, they can be set free into the wild where they can continue to increase the population.
The general public may not realize that a species is endangered until it's too late. Educational programs making use of TV advertising and instructional meetings at national parks can be used to make the public know the situation.
The general public can help protect the wildlife by not hunting wild animals for sport or for a source of food. They should also stop supporting those who earn money from the illegal hunting of wild animals, such as hunters who kill animals for the only purpose of harvesting their body parts and selling them for money.
The public should avoid(避免) keeping wild animals as pets. This will limit the number of animals being tracked, trapped, sold and removed from their natural habitat.

The New South Wales government used planes to drop more than 4,000 pounds of carrots and sweet potatoes, to the forests which are damaged by the recent wildfires. The fires are reported to have killed more than a billion wild animals and destroyed a land of more than 84 thousand square kilometers—about twice the size of Maryland. What is worse, most Australians are worrying about when the wildfires will be fully put out.
"The home of several important wallabies (沙袋鼠) was burnt in the recent fires," New South Wales Environment Minister Matt Kean said on Sunday. Kean said the drops are what wallabies need. The plan is designed to help wallabies and allow them to recover.
Fire seasons often take place in the country, but this year the fires have been quite devastating. The country experienced one of its hottest and driest years, which made it harder to put out the fires. Besides wild animals, the fires have taken the lives of at least 25 people and destroyed more than 2,000 homes.
"I think there's nothing to compare with the damage that's going on over such a large area so quickly. It's a big event in terms of geography and the number of wild animals," Dickman, an animal protection expert, said in an interview with NPR last week.
"We know that the number of Australian wild animals has been going down over the last several decades, and it's probably fairly well known that Australia's got the world's highest rate of extinction of animals," he added. "It's events like this that may increase the speed of extinction of a lot of other animals. So, it's very sad time. Everyone has to try their best to do something for them."
(1)Why did the Australian government drop potatoes?
    A.To feed the animals.
    B.To trap the animals.
    C.To plant potatoes there.
    D.To help the people.
(2)What does the underlined word "devastating" in Paragraph 3 probably mean?
    A.Damaging.
    B.Interesting.
    C.Surprising.
    D.Tiring.
(3)What can we know about the recent Australian wildfires from the text?
    A.They have been under control.
B.The weather is helpful in putting out them.
C.They have killed a small amount of wildlife.
D.They have greatly influenced both people and animals.
(4)What does Dickman want to stress in the last paragraph?
A.Australia has a lot of wildlife.
    B.Australians have suffered a lot.
    C.Australians should protect the wildlife.
D.The government is responsible for the wildfires.

Green tourism, a form of ecotourism, is low-impact (环保的) tourism with an eye toward protecting the environment and culture of an area. 1.      , but green tourism can cover a wide range of standard and conditions, from fully compliant (遵守) to less stressful on the environment than standard tourism. Green, sustainable (可持续的) tourism is considered offering the best of both worlds.

There are also trips available in which vacationers take an active part in improving the local area by working to preserve the natural habitat, helping to build a school or performing other services that benefit the area. These vacations can be a lot of work. 4.      .
As green tourism becomes more popular, there are likely to be more vacationing choices available. More resort areas will likely take steps to have less of an impact on the surrounding environment. 5.      . Local economies might be able to take full advantage of the booming tourist trade without doing harm to the local environment, allowing tourists to enjoy the beauty that these areas have to offer for many years to come.

Don't remove an animal from its natural habitat"不要把动物从它的栖息地抱走,同时"Check the animal periodically for 24-48 hours." 故选A。
Get help for a wild animal部分中的"provide temporary care to sick, injured and abandoned wildlife so it can be returned to the wild"复健员对被救治的动物提供暂时的照顾,使得动物能最终回到野外。
If you come across sick or diseased wildlife and you suspect there is a public health risk …Ontario Public Health Units"在发现生病或残疾的野生动物可能会对公共健康造成影响时,就可以找到Ontario Public Health Units。故选A。
根据第二段中的“Hhe took me out and showed me bear tracks right next to mine .Obviously, the bear had been frightened of me and left. I wasn't brave , it was good luck for me“他带我出去,给我看了我旁边的熊的足迹。
根据第三段中的“A few years ago, my husband, father and I went up to Mountain Baldy . At the top, many people were enjoying picnics”几年前,我和丈夫、父亲去了秃顶山。
    (2)B
    (3)A
    (4)A
根据和第二段中的“Breed(培育) endangered species in places such as zoos. Once the young animals grow up, they can be set free into the wild where they can continue to increase the population.”
根据第三段中的“The general public may not realize that a species is endangered until it's too late. Educational programs making use of TV advertising and instructional meetings at national parks can be used to make the public know the situation.”
根据倒数第二段中的“The general public can help protect the wildlife by not hunting wild animals.”;以及最后一段中的“The public should avoid(避免) keeping wild animals as pets.”
故选A。
    D【答案】 (1)A
    (2)A
    (3)D
    (4)C
根据第二段中的“Kean said the dropsare what wallabies need. The plan is designedto help wallabies and allow them to recover.” 故选A。
根据第三段中的“The country experienced one of its hottest and driest years, which made it harder to put out the fires. Besides wild animals, the fires have taken the lives of at least 25 people and destroyed more than 2,000 homes." 故选A。
根据第二段中的“The home of several important wallabies (沙袋鼠) was burnt in the recent fires”几只重要沙袋鼠的家在最近的火灾中被烧毁;以及第三段内容,这个国家经常发生火灾,但今年的火灾破坏性很大。
根据最后一段“‘We know that the number of Australian wild animals has been going down over the last several decades, and it's probably fairly well known that Australia's got the world's highest rate of extinction of animals,’ he added. ‘It's events like this that may increase the speed of extinction of a lot of other animals. So, it's very sad time. Everyone has to try their best to do something for them.’”
1.根据空后“ but green tourism can cover a wide range of standard and conditions, from fully compliant (遵守) to less stressful on the environment than standard tourism.” G.The United Nations has set up certain standard for ecotourism“联合国已经建立了某些生态旅游的标准”符合语境,故选G。
2.根据空后“which makes green tourism not only preferable but a necessity in some areas. It might seem wiser of some people to protect natural habitats (栖息地) and fragile environments by banning visitors completely to these areas, but many areas depend on the income from tourism to support the local economy.” F.The number of tourists traveling the world has been increasing“全世界旅游人数正逐步攀升”这给旅游景点环境带来巨大压力,景点又不得不迎接,生态旅游变得十分必要,故选F。
3.根据空前“Ecotourism resorts (度假胜地) and ecologies exist in almost every style and taste.” E.From recycling and gray water system to tents on tree houses列举了建立灰水回收系统、在小树屋旁搭帐篷等方式,故选E。
4.根据空前“There are also trips available in which vacationers take an active part in improving the local area by working to preserve the natural habitat, helping to build a school or performing other services that benefit the area. These vacations can be a lot of work. C. However, many people find them very rewarding“但很多人发现这很值得,收获良多”符合语境,故选C。
D. Sustainable tourism could easily become the standard“可持续旅游未来很可能成为标配”符合语境,故选D。

    六、语法填空【答案】 longer;a;Compared;observing;unnatural;endlessly;is;to do;that/which;as
