David became so involved (投入的) in his air travel projects that he often forgot the time. Sometimes he forgot to do his homework. Last month, he was late for a group report. As a result, all three students in his group got low grades. “I’m sorry, but look at this fantastic model of a seaplane I made!” David said.
One day at school last week, David spent his lunch break under a tree drawing a new spaceship. He heard the bell at the end of the break, but could not make himself leave. Surely Mrs. Carl, his teacher, would understand why he was late when she saw his wonderful idea, he thought.
An hour later, David walked back to his classroom. “Where have you been, David? I sent the monitor (班长) to look for you.” Mrs. Carl said.
“I’m sorry, but I just had to finish this spaceship,” said David as he tried to show Mrs. Carl his drawing.
“But we had a special guest speaker this afternoon, an airplane pilot who talked about his job. He just finished his speech and left,” Mrs. Carl explained.
David’s smile fell, along with his heart. “I forgot! I missed him? I can’t believe I missed a real airplane pilot.”

①Nowadays, people always make up their mind to give up sugar, but they always end up with failure. Why is sugar so powerful, and how can you beat it?
②Many sugar cravings (渴求) come from a blood sugar imbalance (不平衡). When your body takes in sugar, your blood sugar quickly goes up and your body lets insulin (胰岛素) out to lower it to a safer level. But if your blood sugar level is too low, your body will want more food to raise it.
③Some sugar cravings are from your brain as a result of lifestyle. For example, if you are too stressed, you will be thirsty for sugar to cheer yourself up. Besides, poor sleep can also lead to overeating sugar, because you need energy to free yourself from tiredness.
④ Sometimes the cravings come from a habit. Perhaps you watched your parents overeat sugar throughout your childhood. Now you do the same, eating pie, for example, even though you are not hungry at all. Or you may eat sweet food like chocolate or ice-cream to reduce (减少) sadness.
⑤ The key to dealing with sugar cravings is to eat foods that stop too much insulin from being released. Healthy fats and protein (蛋白质) are good choices. Protein helps you feel satisfied, which can cut down hunger.
⑥You may find it is hard to give up sugar totally. But once you start to deal with it, you can beat sugar and have a healthy life.
根据材料内容选择最佳答案。
27.Which of the following best shows how blood sugar changes after someone eats something sweet?
A. B. C. D.
28.Why do we develop the bad sugar habit?
A.Because high sugar foods are usually more delicious.
B.Because we like to eat high sugar foods when we are happy.
C.Because we follow the examples of our parents to overeat.
D.Because it’s common for us to feel hungry from time to time.
29.What does the underlined word “released” mean in Chinese?
A.减少 B.释放 C.加快 D.弱化
30.According to the text, we CANNOT reduce sugar cravings by _________.
A.getting enough sleep at night B.having a high-protein breakfast
C.actively dealing with stress D.overeating chocolate and ice-cream
31.What’s the structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.
七、阅读还原5选5
“I’m busy!” You probably feel busy during your week. The good news is that although our lifestyles are so busy, these simple ways can help you feel a little less busy.
32 Words have amazing power over the way you feel. If you keep telling yourself how busy you are, you will start feeling even busier. Try to find another feeling to describe your situation. When you don’t use the word, you will realize you aren’t as busy as you may think.
33 Although you might be proud of yourself on doing many tasks at a time, the truth is that you’ll get something done faster by focusing on (专注于) one thing at a time. In fact, your brain cannot change between tasks quickly.
34 It might seem like an idea to waste more time. But spending time every day doing something good for others can actually help you feel less busy. Researchers found that people’s “time affluence (富裕)” went up when they spent time doing warm acts to help others, because they felt they had more meaningful time than people who spent the same time on themselves.
35 Most people end up wasting time simply by doing the wrong things. It is easy to put off big tasks and do the simplest thing first when you are busy. You can list the things you need to do, even the smallest things.
36 Music can greatly reduce stress, and relax both the body and mind. When you feel stressed at work, listen to some soft music which may help to improve the efficiency (效率).

At my school we have a lot of social practice activities. My favorite social practice activity is to visit the Science Museum.
Last month I went to the Science Museum with Mr. Green and my classmates. Mr. Green is our science teacher. We saw lots of interesting things there, including the dancing robot. And we did some wonderful physics experiments in the museum. I was so excited and I also learned a lot of knowledge about our world.
