Some people make you feel comfortable when they are around. You spend an hour with them and feel as if you have known them half your life. These people have something in common. And once we know what it is, we can try to do it ourselves.
How is it done? Here are several skills that good talkers have. If you follow the skills, they'll help people feel relaxed and make friends with them quickly.
First of all, good talkers ask questions. Almost anyone, no matter how shy he is, will answer a question. One well-known businesswoman says, "At business lunches, I always ask people what they did that morning. It's a common question, but it will get things going." From there you can move on to other matters—sometimes to really personal questions. And how he answers will let you know how far you can go.
Second, once good talkers have asked questions, they listen to the answers. This point seems clear, but it isn't. Your questions should have a point and help to tell what sort of person you are talking to. And to find out, you really have to listen carefully and attentively. Real listening at least means some things. First it means not to change the subject of conversation. If someone sticks to one topic, you can take it as a fact that he's really interested in it. Real listening also means not just listening to words, but to tones of voice. If the voice sounds dull, then, it's time for you to change the subject.
Finally, good talkers know well how to deal with the moment of parting. If you're saying good-bye, you may give him a firm handshake and say, "I've really enjoyed meeting you." If you want to see that person again, don't keep it a secret. Let people know what you feel, and they may walk away feeling as if they've known you half their life.
79.Asking questions might be a quite good and suitable way _______.
A.for you to make more and more new friends
B.to begin your business talks
C.to get the conversation going smoothly
D.for you to make a deep and lasting impression on others
80.After having asked somebody a question, it'll be polite of you to _______.
A.make clear what kind of person he is
B.listen to his reply attentively
C.wait quietly and patiently for his answer
D.go on asking him more questions
81.Generally speaking, good talkers are persons who _______.
A.are good at making any topic interesting
B.never talk too much or too little
C.always speak in a gentle way
D.know how and when they should change the topic of the talk
82.If you really want to meet someone again, _______.
A.you may take him as your lifelong true friend
B.it seems necessary for you to let him know it
C.it's proper for you to give him a second handshake
D.it'll be helpful for you to have further understanding of him

How green are you? Do you know how to be green?
We all need a healthy environment, but we produce waste every day and it is harmful to our environment. Though we are young, we can still do something to help. Here are some ideas for you.
Reduce
Reduce means "use less". Don't waste things. This saves money and reduces pollution. Before we buy something new, think whether it is really necessary—or maybe the old one is still useful.
Reuse
Reuse means "use again". When we buy things, make sure that they can last a long time. When something is broken, we should repair it instead of throwing it away and buying a new one. Don't use a paper cup or a paper bag. It's better to use a china(瓷) cup and a lunch box because you can use them again.
Recycle
Recycle means "change things into something else". Though it takes energy to change something into something else, it's better than throwing things away or burning them.
So please remember these words: reduce, reuse and recycle.

My name is Ann. I would like to share my volunteering experience in Sue Ryder. I worked as a volunteer in 2013 because I wanted to do something to help others. I called some charity shops(慈善商店)to ask if they needed volunteers. Although I didn't mind where I volunteered, I was glad that one of the Sue Ryder shops said yes. Sue Ryder was a charity very close to my heart because volunteers from Sue Ryder once cared for my dad in the hospital.
Volunteering in the shop helped me know what shop work was like and I was surprised to find how much I really enjoyed doing it. I also found how important the public(民众)were. Lots of people gave us things they didn't need for the shops to sell. In this way Sue Ryder raised money to care for people with life-changing illness. I always left the charity shop late, because I knew how important the work of Sue Ryder was.
Another thing I enjoyed about volunteering was talking with other volunteers in the shop. They were friendly and helpful. I really improved my teamwork skills by volunteering.
I worked in the shop from late April to early August. I learned many things from it and I'm sure they will be useful in the future.

Salina is a student in Sunshine Middle School. She feels happy most of the time at school. But she also feels unhappy from time to time because there are too many rules at her school.
She agrees with some of the rules. For example, they can’t arrive late for school, they can’t run in the classroom building, and they can’t eat in the classroom. All these rules are okay because they’re reasonable(合情合理的). But there are some rules Salina doesn’t agree with. For example, at her school, they have to wear uniforms and they can’t wear jeans. They can’t listen to music in art classes. And they have to take five classes in the morning. But Salina likes jeans and she thinks they’re comfortable. She thinks it is okay to listen to music in art classes. She thinks it’s too much to have 5 classes in the morning. It’s 12 o’clock when classes are over, after all. She feels so hungry. There’s one more rule that she can’t stand, either. They can’t join any interesting clubs after school.

159.例文:
Say No to Waste
Our resources are not enough in the world and they are getting fewer and fewer. we all must say no to waste. What should we do then?
First, we must save water and electricity. We should shut off the taps and turn off the lights when we leave. Second, don’t waste food. Now there are many people facing the problems of food in the world. Perhaps more people will suffer from hunger problems in the future. What’s more, we can go to school by bike or on foot and reuse the textbooks. Our exercise books can also be used on both sides.
In a word, we everyone should take an active part in refusing waste.

Zhou Xue is a mother of a 9-year-old boy in Jiangsu province(省). More and more students are getting myopia (近视). What can we do to stop the problem?
Wantang Primary School in Yunnan province has good news for us—no one of its 536 students has myopia, says China Daily.
The following are the ways to help keep the eye health in Wantang Primary School. Maybe we can learn something from them.

Other ways also help a lot. For example, students don’t take mobile phones or other electronic devices (电子设备) to school. They get at least 10.5 hours of sleep every day. The school tries to give students a balanced diet (均衡饮食). And there are green trees all around the school. Sun Fubiao, the school’s principal (校长) tells China Daily.
These days, our country and schools are doing more to stop myopia. The double-reduction policy (双减政策) came out in July 2021.

A.How to produce things. B.How to burn things.

With the new schedule, they will only have four classes in the morning and two in the afternoon so that they can do what they like and join many kinds of clubs after school.
