    Module 8 Accidents

    Unit 1 While the lights were changing to red, a car suddenly appeared.

    一、教学目标

    1. 掌握词汇:pale, appear, round, corner, hit, glad, in time, fall off, risk, attention, pay attention, side, side by side

    2. 掌握句型:

    (1) While the lights were changing to red, a car suddenly appeared round the corner.

    (2) So did the car hit the boy?

    (3) The car stopped just in time, but the boy fell off his bike and hurt his knee.

    (4) Pay attention, stop at the red lights and what else?

    (5) Dont ride side by side with your friends.

    3. 能够听懂别人对事故的描述。

    4. 能够简单叙述所发生的事故。

    5. 能够运用过去进行时(与whenwhile引导的状语从句连用)

    6. 能够掌握句子的停顿。

    7. 通过学习,使学生认识到注意安全的重要性。

    二、教学重点及难点

    重点:通过训练学生的听说能力,让学生掌握过去进行时的结构、用法及其与when while 引导的状语从句连用的情况。

    难点:能运用过去进行时就意外事故这一话题进行讨论。

    三、教学准备

    1. 多媒体设备和课件

    2. 设计课后巩固练习;

    四、教学过程

    Step 1 Warming-up

    T lets Ss look at the pictures and then talk.

    T: Hello, everyone. Lets look at these traffic signs. Whatre the meanings of these signs?

    【设计意图】通过交通标志的识别,调动学生的积极性,有效活跃课堂气氛。再通过自由讨论顺利引入今天要学的知识。

    Step 2 Pre-listening

    1. Learn the new words and expressio.

    (1) Learn the new words and expressions by reading them aloud together.

    (2) Let Ss stand up and read the new words and expressions one after another, and correct their pronunciations.

    2. Work on Activity 1.

    (1) T asks Ss to read the words in the box.

    (2) Ask Ss to talk about what is happening using the words in the box.

    (3) Ask some Ss to show their thoughts.

    3. Work on Activity 2.

    (1) Play the recording and ask Ss to underline the correct words.

    (2) Check the answers as a class.

    (3) Ask Ss to read the sentences carefully.

    【设计意图】对本单元的生词汇进行学习,帮助学生掌握读音和词义。看图片有助于锻炼学生的观察能力、思维能力和表达能力。听力活动不仅可以考查学生对对话大意的理解,也能让他们感知过去进行时的用法。

    Step 3 While-listening

    1. Listen and answer the questions.

    2. Listen again and complete the following advice.

    【设计意图】听读对话目的在于培养学生的语音语调,尤其在真实交际中对语音语调的运用。要求学生根据对话内容总结出应该遵守的交通规则和注意事项,有助于帮助学生更好地理解课文。

    Step 4 Post-listening

    1. Read the conversation and then talk about the following questions in group.

    (1) Where and when did the accident happen?

    (2) What are the boy and the driver doing at that time?

    (3) What is the result of the accident?

    (4) What are the advices from the conversation?

    【设计意图】学生通过教师设置的问题,学生在小组讨论并回答可以激发学生的合作兴趣,同时更好的理解文章。

    2. Learn the language points.

             You look pale.

    pale adj. “苍白的,灰白的 ,指人时形容面容缺乏健康或自然的气色,指物时表示色彩暗淡,缺乏光泽。

             While the lights were changing to red, a car suddenly appeared round the corner.

    appear vi. 意为“出现,显露,其反义词为“disappear  消失”。

    round the corner 在拐角处附近

             The driver was talking on his mobile phone.

    on此处用作介词,意为“通过,使用,借助于。常用短语:on the phone, on TV, on the Internet

             The car stopped just in time, but the boy fell off his bike and hurt his knee.

    in time 及时;just 强调“刚刚,正好”。

    fall off  从……跌落;从……落下。fellfall 的过去式 

             Pay attention, stop at the red lights and … what else?

    pay attention意为“注意,留意”

             Don’t ride side by side with your friends.

    side by side意为“并排地,肩并肩地”。

             Sometimes cars appear round the corner and do not stop.

    sometimes副词,意为“有时”。

    辨析:sometimes, sometime, some time, some times

    【设计意图】学习课文中出现的语言点,帮助学生更好地理解课文并让学生学会运用这些语言点。

    3. Work on Activity 4.

    (1) Ask Ss to read the words in the box and make sure they know the meanings.

    (2) Ask Ss to complete the passage with the words in the box.

    (3) Check the answers together.

    【设计意图】巩固和运用所学单词,加深学生对对话内容的理解。

    4. Work on Activity 5.

    (1) Play the recording and ask Ss to mark when the speaker pauses.

    (2) Check the answers as a class.

    (3) Play the recording again, and ask Ss to read the two sentences loudly.

    【设计意图】活动5的目的是为了让学生了解在朗读句子时如何正确地停顿。

    5. Ask Ss to work in groups of four and play different roles.

    Student A: You’re a policeman at an accident scene in the street. Ask people questions.

    Student B, C and D: You saw the accident. Answer the policeman’s questions.

    6. Ask Ss to change roles in groups and then practice the conversation again.

    【设计意图】要求学生在前面听、说、读等练习的基础上,进一步操练过去进行时的用法。这个活动是一个有实际交际意义的练习。

    7. Let Ss do some exercises to consolidate what they have learned.

    【设计意图】通过练习巩固本课所学知识,考查学生对知识的掌握程度

    Step 5 Summary

    1. Key words and expressions: pale, appear, round, corner, hit, glad, risk, in time, fall off, pay attention, side by side, round the corner

    2. Sentences:

    (1) While the lights were changing to red, a car suddenly appeared round the corner.

    (2) The car stopped just in time, but the boy fell off his bike and hurt his knee.

    Step 6 Homework

    1. Listen and read the conversation.

    2. Make sentences using the words we learned today.
