sleepy  adj. 困倦的，瞌睡的；安静的，冷清的

[辨析] sleepy, asleep与sleep

(1)sleepy是sleep的形容词形式，意为“困倦的，瞌睡的”。

(2)asleep是形容词，常用作表语。fall asleep意为“入睡”。

(3)sleep为动词，意为“睡觉”，也可以用作名词，意为“睡眠”。

eg.  I'm so         . 我好困啊。

   She fell          in class. 她在课堂上睡着了。

I don't want to         . 我不想睡觉。

2.  I speak loudly so that all the students can hear me clearly.

   我大声地讲话,以便所有的学生都能清晰地听见我说话。

He works hard at his lessons, so that he gained high grades in exams.

他努力学习，结果考试获得了好成绩。

[探究]  (1)so that可以引导目的状语从句，相当于in order that。 在从句中，常使用can/could/may/might/will/should/shall等情态动词或助动词；

(2)so that 还可以引导结果状语从句，前面常用逗号与其他句子成分隔开。

[拓展]  短语so…that…意为“如此……以至于……”，so修饰形容词或副词，that引导结果状语从句。

eg. 1) 她是如此善良以至于所有的学生都喜欢她。

   She is ____ kind ___ all the students like her.

2) 用so…that…改写句子

The man was very angry. His face turned white.

 The man was ____ _____ _______ his face turned white.

3. Now I'm feeling much better.  现在我感觉好多了。

  He is much fatter than me. 他比我胖许多。

  much放于比较级前修饰比较级，意为“……得多”。

[拓展] 在英语中，用来修饰形容词或副词比较级的还有a little, a lot, far, even, a bit等，但

very, too, quite, so等可以修饰原级，不能修饰比较级

三、知识点拨：

1.表达“也”含义的词语有also,as well,too,either等。

too位于肯定句、疑问句句末,前面一般有逗号;

also位于肯定句、疑问句句中;有时也可位于句首,其后有逗号;

either位于否定句、否定疑问句句末,前面一般有逗号;

as well位于肯定句、疑问句句末,前面无逗号。

2.plenty of意为“很多;充足”,可修饰可数名词和不可数名词。

3.now that意为“既然;由于,因为”。

4.mention的用法

(1)mention+名词/代词/动名词

I mentioned this idea to Jenny,and she seemed to like it.

(2)mention+从句

Tony mentions that he often walks to school.

(3)固定搭配

Don’t mention it.不客气。　not to mention 更不用

5.so that引导目的状语从句,意为“以便;为了”。

so...that...引导结果状语从句,意为“如此……以致于……”。
