Teaching aims and learning objectives:

By the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

1. understand the story and find out what’s on grandpa’s farm;

2. get to know the meaning of “these, those ,apples, pears ,pigs , cows” both in spoken and written forms, and pronounce them clearly;

3. get to know the singular form and plural form of nouns;

4. get to know the differences between “these” and “those” ,and use them correctly;

5. use structures like “What are these / those ?  They’re ...s . Are these / those …s ?” etc. to talk about things on the farm ;

6. get interested in the nice things in our life.

Focus of the lesson:

1. understanding the story as a whole;

2. role playing the story with the right pronunciation, intonation and sentence stress.

Predicted area of difficulty:

1. understanding the differences between “these” and “those”;

2. using the key sentence structures “What are these / those ?  They’re ...s . Are these / those …s ?” etc.

Step 1 Warm up

1. Greetings.

Step 2 Presentation and practice

1. Guessing game (5’)

(1)  T: Let’s play a game--- Guessing game. Here is a riddle. You can guess like this: Is this a/ an ...? Now, listen carefully. First, It is an animal.

   Ss: ... (多几个同学)

   T: Second, it is big and fat.

   Ss: ...

   T: last one, it is pink.

   Ss: ...

   T: Let’s check. Yes, you’re right. (   ) It is a pig. (带读，板书）

(2) T: Let’s listen. You can guess like this: Is that a/an ...?

   Ss: ...

   T: Let’s see. Yes, you’re right. (   ) It’s a cow. (带读，板书）

(3) T: Look at this picture. You can guess like this: Are these ...? (带读these和句型，板书)

2. Title: On the farm

  T: Wow, there are many animals on the farm. Where can you see these animals?

  Ss: farm

  T: farm, On the farm (带读，板书)

  T: So, today we are going to learn Unit 7 On the farm

3. Watch and answer

  (1) T: Today, we will visit a farm. Watch a cartoon and answer my question: Whose farm is it?

     Ss: ...

  (2) T: Open your books and turn to page... Read story time by yourselves and choose. What’s on the farm?

4. Teach apples and pears

(1)  Teach apples

    T: What are these? (指着板书上的pigs问，板书句型)

Ss: They’re pigs.

T: (贴apples) Who can ask?

Ss: ...

T: Who can answer?

Ss: They’re apples.  (带读)

(2)  Teach pears

    T: What are those? (指着板书上的cows问, 带读，板书句型)

Ss: They’re cows.

T: (贴pears) Who can ask?

Ss: ...

T: Who can answer?

Ss: They’re pears.  (带读)

5. Read after the tape. (喊几个同学试着模仿重点句型）

  T：Try to pay attention to your pronunciation and intonation.

6. Read by yourselves.
