On July 14, 2017, Maryam Mirzakhani, Stanfrd prfessr f mathematics and the first female winner f the Fields Medal in Mathematics, died at the age f 40.

She received her bachelr's degree in Iran and later studied at Harvard. In 2014, Maryam was recgnized with the Fields Medal, the highest­ranking award in mathematics.
