Step I  Lead-in

Show students some pictures about blogs and ask students to describe them.

Step Ⅱ  Reading for information

Activity 1  Ask students to read these posts on Page 66 and answer the following questions.

Questions:

1. Who starts this blog
2. Who responds to it?
3. What is the blog mainly about

Activity 2  Ask students to read the text again to fill in the table on Page 67 and draw a mind map to show their answers.

StepⅢ Preparing for writing a blog

Activity 1  Ask students to list their learning problems in English and brainstorm some useful advice. Work in pairs.

Step Ⅳ Writing a blog about English study

Activity 1   Choose one of the problems from your group discussion.

Question : Which problem do you feel like writing about?Why?

Activity 2  Write a blog based on the discussion and evaluate the draft using the checklist.

1.Describe the problem clearly.

2. Write one or two ideas on how to solve the problems.

Activity 3  Get your draft back and revise it.

I have trouble with phrasal verbs. There are so many of them and it seems impossible to work out the meanings just from the words. And some of the verbs have different meanings. For example,“put off” can mean postpone, discourage(someone from doing something), and make someone dislike(something). I try to use phrasal verbs sometimes,but I usually use the wrong one!

My classmates had some suggestions for me. One is to use the flash card on which I write down the phrasal verb and a sentence with it.In this way,I can study these cards when I have time. Another suggestion is to use the phrasal verb in a sentence that is true for me so that it's easier to remember.

I’m trying them now. I hope they will work for me.
