Teaching aims:

1.Enable students to get familiar with the first-day senior high school students in different countries.

2.Let students get main facts by listening and use different listening tips to get the necessary information.

3.Greet and introduce people depending on different situations in life.

4.Arouse students’ interest in getting to know new people.

Teaching key points:

1.Help students greet and introduce people depending on different situations in life.

2.Try to arouse students’ interest in new school life and talking about introductions and greetings.

Teaching difficult points:

1.Enable students to get the necessary information by using different listening tips.

2.Enable students to know and talk about choosing and registering for courses and introduce and greet each other.

StepⅠLead-in

Look at the Opening Page and discuss the following questions.

Question 1: How do you feel on the first day of school?

Question 2: How do you understand the quote: A thousand-mile journey begins with the first step.---Laozi?

Suggested answers:

Question1:Happy, nervous, anxious, afraid, excited, tired, puzzled...

Question2: Everything is hard in the beginning. We should have the courage to face the new challenges in life, and work hard at every step with a positive attitude.

StepⅡ　Listening:Get to know new people

Activity 1　Warming up

Match the pictures with the sentences below and then describe what the people in the pictures are doing.

A.My name is Amy.I’d like to have a student ID card,please.

B.Hi,I’m Max Jackson.I’m an exchange student from the UK.

Suggested answers:
