    Welcome Unit--Reading for writing公开课教案

    Teaching aims:

    1.Enable students to have a good understanding of how to write a persons profile properly.

    2.Students will be able to figure out and summarize the structures and language features of the profile.

    3.Help students to use the checklist to improve the draft.

    4.Enable students to master and use some words and the informal expressions related to writing a profile.

    Teaching key points

    1.    Guide students to better summarize what aspects should be included when writing a profile.
    2.    Enable students to write and finish a profile about themselves and use the checklist to improve the draft.

    Teaching difficult points:

    1.    Help students to figure out and summarize how to write a persons profile properly and master structures and language features of the profile.

        Teaching procedures:

    Step ⅠLead-in

    Ask some students to introduce themselves orally and ask others to choose which one they would like to make friends with.

    StepRead for information

    Activity 1 Read the student profiles and discuss the questions.

    1.What is Ann like?How do you know?

    2.What does the sentence“Youll never see me without a book or a pen” mean?

    3.Which profile do you like better?Why?

    Suggested answers:

    1.Ann is an active person.Because she loves sports and learns best by doing.Dancing and skating are her hobbies.

    2.It means Thando studies very hard.

    3.The answer may vary.

    Activity 2 Ask students to study the organization and language features.

    1.    Read the text to summarize what aspects should be included when writing a profile.

    Suggested answers: 1.A.general information (name,age,grade,school) B. personality C. favourite subject D. learning style E. hobbies F. future plans and dreams

    2.Find out the phrases that Ann and Thando use to describe their personalities and underline the sentences that they use to describe their learning styles.

    Put up your writing in the classroom and collect all the profiles and create a class book.

    StepⅥ Homework

    1.Find more information on the Internet about how to write a personal profile.

    2.Retell the useful words and expressions about personalities.
