    Teaching aims:

    By the end of this period, students will be able to:

    1. know more about different painting styles in Western art.
    2. figure out the main idea and the text organization.
    3. Explore the characteristics and the development of Western painting.
    4. Identify different Western painting styles and share opinions about the value of art.

    Teaching key points:

    1. Analyse the structure and language features of the informative essay.
    2. Lead students to better understand the history of Western painting.

    Teaching difficult points:

    1. Enable students to summarize the characteristics and development of Western painting and identify the expressions about change.
    2. Lead students to distinguish different period of some paintings and show their love for art.

    Teaching procedures:

    Share some famous typical Western paintings with the students and ask them a few questions to lead in.
