Ⅰ. Pre-task preparations
1.出示一些重阳节的照片,与学生讨论。
T: What do you usually do at the Double Ninth Festival?
S1: I usually go hiking at the Double Ninth Festival.
S2: I usually visit my grandparents at the Double Ninth Festival.
2.出示照片介绍Grandparents' Day。与学生讨论可以为祖父母做什么事。
T: Grandparents' Day is a festival in the US. It's on a Sunday in September. Children always do something for their grandparents on this day. What do you do for your grandparents?
S1: I sometimes help my grandma wash the dishes.
S2: I always read books to my grandparents.
Ⅱ. While-task procedures
1.播放Read a story中故事Where is Grandma?的动画或录音,通过以下问题帮助学生了解故事大意。
(1)Who are the children? (Mary and John.)
(2)What do Mary and John usually do with Grandma? (They sometimes go shopping with Grandma.)
(3)When do Mary and John want to meet Grandma? (At twelve o'clock on Saturday.)
(4)Is Grandma at the bus stop on Saturday? (No, she isn't.)
(5)Who takes Mary and John to Granma's home? (Grandma's dog, Coco.)
(6)Why doesn't Grandma go to the bus stop? (She thinks it’s Friday.)
2.列出不同人物说的话,让学生进行配对,考查学生的记忆力及对课文的理解能力。

3.让学生猜一下故事的发展。
T: What happens next?
S1: John and Mary arrive at Grandma's home.
T: What do they say?
S2: It's Saturday, Grandma!
然后让学生想象人物见面后可能说的话,完成Read a story的后续练习。
4.列出故事中的一些句子,让学生通过阅读,给句子排序。
(3)Grandma is in the kitchen.
(2)Mary and John are at the bus stop.
(4)Coco takes Mary and John home.
(1)Mary talks to Grandma on the phone.
Ⅲ. Post-task activities
1.学生五人一组,演出课本剧。帮助学生安排角色和整理对白。
2.根据《练习册》中的Task,学生以四人为一组,通过读Look and write中的图,每个学生完成对一幅图的描述,并在四幅图的前面加一两句旁白,如:Little Bear lives with his grandparents.然后学生在组内进行交流,讨论和完成Think and guess中的表格。最后,作为回家作业,请学生根据组内讨论的结果完成Think and write。
