As an ambassador(大使) for The Daily Mile, a movement that calls for one simple thing15 minutes of daily exercise, where children run, walk, jog or skip one milehe encourages any form of exercise and movement.

Geoghegan Hart sees schools as key to setting young people up for life with good sporting habits. When you're school age, sport can encourage you and take hold of you and change you more than at any other age, he explains.Yes, we all go on journeys with sport, but when you look back at those journeys, they start with your childhood.

One big attraction of taking part in The Daily Mile is that it is a cost-free way in which schools can encourage regular exercise. Geoghegan Hart says he hopes The Daily Mile will encourage children to try and be more active in the future.Something as simple as The Daily Mile can lead to much more, he says.

At Cowley Hill Primary School, head teacher Louise Thomas says that they've found the movement has had a great positive influence upon the lives of their learners. Charlie Honour, year-5 teacher and PE subject leader at StPeter's School, says that although the activity takes place out on the field, it has classroom benefits, too.I find that the children are more willing to complete class work, says Honour.I think it is because they know they will soon be outside and getting some fresh air.

It had been a long winter. Bitter cold, snowy days had hit us again and again. On the warmer days there had been little sunshine, but only cold, icy rain. The sun had become such a rare sight that I had to look at a picture of it on my wall calendar from time to time to remember what it looked like. The grass had remained brown and resting. My own backyard had turned into a muddy mess that tried to steal the shoes right off my feet as I walked on it. My heart ached and longed for spring, and my own good cheer had trouble rising up against the continuous, cold, gray days.

The rain poured down my face as I walked my dog in the fields. I looked up at the sky hoping to see the sun smiling with its warm, golden face, but it was no use. The sky was as cloudy as ever. It was then, however, that I saw it. It wasn't the smiling face of the sun in the sky but a little, yellow face peeking(偷看) through the mud. It was a dandelion(蒲公英), and it filled my heart with hope and joy. I smiled at this little sign that spring would bring this world to life once again. I felt my good cheer rising up at last and I promised I would share it with everyone I met.

One day that tiny dandelion's seeds will fill the meadow(草地) with little, yellow faces smiling at you. The faces will make this world a better and more beautiful place. May we all do the same. May we all shine our light and share our love even on the coldest and grayest days. May we all work to make this world better and brighter even when it is in the dark.

    5. How did the author feel about the weather at first?

    A. Scared. B. Curious. C. Bored. D. Nervous.

    6. What happened when the author walked her dog in the fields?

    A. She lost her shoes. B. She found a dandelion.

    C. She saw the warm sun. D. She met with her friends.

    7. What does the author call on us to do?

    A. Share what we have with others. B. Try our best to discover beauties.

    C. Cheer others up when necessary. D. Beautify our life and world.

    8. What is the best title for the passage?

    A. A Cold Winter B. A Tiny Dandelion

    C. Hopes Make Our Life D. Sharing Makes the World
