Many people like to travel when they have time off from school or work. They might go to their hometown to see their family, or travel somewhere far. But not everyone does this. More and more people are choosing (选择) to take a "staycation”.
A staycation is a new word for a period of time when people stay at home on vacation or take day trips from their home to local (当地的) places of interest. Some people might travel around their city, visiting local parks and museums. Others might try countryside trips and take part is local festivals. People like me love to just stay at home.
I had a staycation of my own over the summer. I slept late every day. I worked on music and played video games. I wasn't too lonely -I had my cat to play with, and I got together with some of my friends around the city.
Traveling is fun, but it's also nice to just stay at home and relax. It's cheaper as well, since I don't have to pay for travel. And you can choose to do whatever you like or, if you want, just do nothing. There's nothing wrong with that.

We all talk about good and bad habits, but do we really know what a good habit or a bad habit is? Take brushing your teeth for example. Everyone thinks it is a good habit, but there are times when it is not. Carl's dentist told him that his teeth became bad because of overbrushing. Wanting to keep them healthy, he brushed his teeth for fifteen minutes after every meal; he was also brushing too hard.
Most habits have both advantages (优点) and disadvantages. In this book, The Habit Change Workbook, I'll help you decide which habits you need to change. First let's meet two people with "bad habits".
Betty liked shopping best. It made her relaxed and helped her forget her worries. She also shopped when she was bored or had something to enjoy, Betty showed her love by buying and giving gifts to friends. She especially enjoyed a big sale. When she found a sale, she'd often buy two, three or more of the same thing. Betty used credit cards (信用卡) to pay, making it difficult for her to pay the bills each month.
Jeff was busy and didn't have time to cook healthy meals. He often had fast food on the way to and from work. His kitchen was full of junk food. Jeff was fat. His doctor told him to eat less and gave him a diet plan (饮食计划),but Jeff couldn't follow it. Jeff also had problem sleeping.
23. Why does the writer mention (提到) Carl at the beginning?
A. To teach us how to tell good habits from bad ones.
B. To show that a good habit can have bed results.
C. To show us that he has good habits.
D. To tell us about his bad habits.
24. In which part of a magazine can we probably read this text?
A. Lifestyle. B. News. C. Fun. D. World.
25. What do we know about Betty?
A. Sometimes she shopped when she was worried.
B. She always wanted to get gifts from her friends.
C. She didn't have any credit cards.
D. She had few friends.
26. How does the writer show his ideas?
A. By listing numbers.
B. By giving examples.
C. By describing a picture
D. By giving definition
D
On a sunny day, some children sit on their bicycles. They wear helmets (头盔) and gloves to protect (保护) their heads and hands. Their mothers watch them closely. The children are ready to learn how to ride.
Rachel Varn left her job of selling bicycles to become a trainer for bicycle riding last year. She founded (创建) Pedal Power Kids to teach kids how to ride a bicycle. Before starting a ride, she teaches the children how to make sure the bicycles are in good condition (状况) for safe use. She calls it "the ABC quick check". "A is for air. We have to check our tires (轮胎) before riding. B is for brakes. We want to make sure our brakes work before we find ourselves on the top of a hill about to go down. And C is for chain (链条). The chain must be clean." she explains.
She says the rest of the training is more fun. The children learn riding skills, from balance (平衡) to turning, starting and stopping. And they learn to keep their eyes up and look ahead when riding. Varn says many children have difficulty doing this. They look down at first.
Varn's dream is to get more children on bicycles. She says, "That's really a great way for kids to be active and develop (形成) healthy habits. It helps keep people healthy.'
Varn says, " We probably won't be playing lacrosse (长曲棍球) when we're 75 or 89, but we certainly can be riding a bike!"

A. To learn English quickly.
B. To make cycling safe
C. To learn cycling quickly
D. To keep healthy
30. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
