    What differences can yu find between when and while?
    when+ 一般过去时, while+过去进行时
    过去进行时中when和while引导的时间状语从句
    过去进行时常和when, while 引导的时间状语连用,构成复合句。两者之间既有相同点,也有不同点。 相同点:when和while都可表示“当······时”,用来引导时间状语从句,表示主句动作发生的背景。
    when可以指时间点,也可以指一段时间,while只指一段时间,因此在引导时间状语从句时,when引导的时间状语从句中的动词可以是瞬间动词,也可以是延续性动词,而while从句中的动词必须是延续性动词。 were talking when the teacher came in. 我们正在交谈,这时老师进来了。 They arrived when/while we were having dinner. 当我们正在吃晚饭时,他们到了。
    由when引导的时间状语从句常用一般过去时,而主句用进行时;如果强调从句和主句的动作同时发生,两句都用过去进行时,且多用while引导从句e.g.I was walking in the street when the accident happened. 我正在街上散步,这时这起交通事故发生了。 The accident happened when I was walking in the street. 当我正在街上散步时,这起事故发生了。 I saw the accident while I was walking n the rad. 当我正在街上散步时,我看见了这起交通事故。
    归纳 如果主句和从句都用了过去进行时,那么从句用 引导; 如果从句是一般过去时,要用 引导;如果主句是 ,从句是 ,从句可用when或while引导。

    An emergency landing US Airways Flight 1549 tk ff as usual frm an airprt in New Yrk. But after nly three minutes, the plane was hit by a large number f birds. The pilt, Chesley Sullenberger, had t make a quick decisin t avid a terrible disaster. He and the crew kept calm and he carefully made an emergency landing n the Hudsn River. All the passengers left the plane safely. When reprters interviewed him, he said, “ I was just ding my jb.”
    1998年9月10日中国东方航空586号班机由上海飞往北京后再飞往洛杉矶。一架麦道MD-11型客机执行此一航班时起落架发生故障。飞机起后折返虹桥国际机场紧急迫降,全机人员安全,这是中国首宗民航飞机迫降事件。 当飞机起飞后,机长发觉飞机的前起落架指示灯未能由红色转为熄掉,表示不能收回,于是机长通知虹桥国际机场塔台,塔台同意飞机回航。当证实前起落架不能收回及降下后,机组人员欲在空中将前起落架降下,首先将飞机降下再爬升,之后再以小半径侧滑,但未能将前起落架降下来。其后,机长指示一名机务查看起落架的状况,该名机务缠上绳子后冒险从前起落架舱门口探出身体,并用斧头敲打起落架出现故障的地方,但未见松动。接着,机长用后起落架着陆,但仍然毫无反应,结果就唯有迫降。
    晚上10时10分,机场及飞机均开始进行迫降前的准备,机上的空服员呼吁乘客尽量移往机尾后方,飞机则于上空盘旋以消耗燃油,机场跑道亦喷上防火泡沫,减低起火的机会。晚上11时7分,飞机在前端喷上防火泡沫的跑道上降落,机长首先让后起落架先触地,之后机头在跑道上摩擦,并且跟地面拖出一条火花,当滑行至380米后,飞机终于停下了。最终,北京时间11:07分,这架飞机在滑行了380米后停稳在跑道内。 飞机停下之后,乘客纷纷离开飞机,消防员就向飞机射水以防止起火,并协助乘客离开现场,有9人在离开飞机时因为逃生滑梯漏气而跌伤。 全机人无一遇难。是中国民航史上的重大飞跃。
