While the trip to Nepal was the goal, the exercise to prepare for it became a central piece of herself-care routine.
A few weeks ago, Mary Atkinson began spending the remaining daylight after work setting up a garden in the yard of her Greensboro home. She as well as her two-year-olds on, West, often played there with the sand and history truck “This is something that never happened before the pandemic, and it gives much happiness to us,” said Atkinson,

Antarctica(南极洲) is the coldest, windiest, highest and driest continent(大陆) on the planet. The lowest temperature ever recorded on Earth was—94.7℃in eastern Antarctica in 2010. The continent experiences regular Katabatic winds, reaching 300kmperhour.There is little rainfall and the air is very dry. Indeed, the Polar Plateau(极地高原) is regarded as a desert which experiences similar rainfall levels to the Sahara Desert.
It is the fifth-largest continent and is almost 1.5 times the size of the United States. Its coastline covers about 18,000km. About 98% of the continent is covered in a thick continental ice sheet and the remaining 2% is rock.

Nature's power is seldom seen as ferocious as it is in Antarctica, making it one of the most difficult places to live on Earth.
The first people to reach the South Pole were from the Norwegian-led expedition(探险队)of Roald Amundsen on December 14, 1911. One month later, Robert Scott's British expedition also reached 90 South but all members unluckily died on their return journey.
Before this, the thought over the existence of a “southern land” was not confirmed until the early 1820s. At this time, British and American business operators and British and Russian national expeditions began exploring the Antarctic Peninsula area and other areas south of the Antarctic Circle. In 1840, it was believed that Antarctica is indeed a continent and not just a group of islands.

A. It is covered by sand. B. It hardly rains there.
C. The air there is wet. D. The average temperature there was high.

I called again and again in a sure voice to come on and fear nothing, but he would think for a moment, look down again at the “bridge”, and shout his unshakable thought that he could never, never come that way, and then lie back hopelessly, as if screaming, “O-o-oh! (Text 6)

(Text 10)
M: Columbus was one of the few people who said the earth was round and that it ran around the sun. In 1492, he took ships and started sailing west. The ships were called The Nina, The Pinta and The Santa Maria. He hoped to reach India and discover a different way to the country and an improved route to bring valuable things back to Europe. Columbus was from Italy but he couldn't get the money to make his exploration until he'd managed to persuade the King and the Queen of Spain. The story goes that Queen Isabella gave him her jewels so he could buy the ships and supplies that he needed. Spain wanted to get moreland. The Queen was sure this was the perfect way to do that. It was also difficult for Columbus to find men to go with him because it was said that they'd sail off the earth and never be seen again. At last, Columbus didn't find a new way to India but discovered a world that was completely new to Europeans and this helped Spain become one of the strongest nations in the world. Many of the countries in the west of the world which were part of Spain still have Spanish as their native language today. Tomatoes, potatoes and many other fruits and vegetables that we know today were discovered in this new land and taken back to Europe.

第一节
One possible version:
Person of the Year
In my heart, “Person of the Year”should be someone who improves others' lives. Li Qing, a volunteer for nucleic acid testing in our community, moved me deeply.
There is no doubt that Li is the best one because she is always the first to volunteer to do nucleic acid testing for people whenever the community needs her. Besides, after work, she takes care of the elderly who don't have children.
As an ordinary person, she devotes herself to helping people in need, which has a great influence on me. I think we should learn from her, as a small act of devotion can make a big difference.
第二节
One possible version:
He knew very well what I meant. At last, with the courage of despair, he crouched down on the edge, pressed his body against the ice as if counting one-two-three. Immediately I reached out my arm, he succeeded in leaping to the safe place with two steps, one on the “bridge”, the other one on my arm. “Well done! Well done!” I cried, trying to catch him. Her an around me screaming and shouting as if saying, “Saved! Saved! Saved!”
When we went back home, Stickeen was a changed dog. Instead of running out of my sight, he always lay by my side, and would hardly accept a piece of food, no matter how tempting the food was from any hand but mine. At night, he would come to me and rest his head on my knee with a look of devotion as if I were his God. And often a she caught my eye, he seemed to say, “Wasn't that an awful time we had together on the glacier?”
