We have a saying that “filial piety(孝) is the first of the hundred virtues(美德)”. So you know how important it is for Chinese to respect and take care of their parents.
Our parents do so many things for us. They feed us, look after us and teach us. It’s natural that we should feel thankful and want to pay them back. Chinese people have been practicing filial
piety throughout history. Many often-told stories explain this virtue of loving and respecting the elders, such as the story of Tiying in the Western Han Dynasty who risked her life in order to save her wronged(被冤枉的) father from corporal(肉体的) punishment.
For teenagers, filial piety means trying to make parents happy. In China, many young people usually do a lot of things to show filial piety, such as helping wash parents’ feet, cooking for them or writing a thank-you card. By doing these things, we develop stronger love for our parents.
Confucius(孔子) believed that as long as everyone was good to their parents, they could also be good to other people. Then there wouldn’t be many fights. Then we could bring peace to the world. What a remarkable idea! It means that filial piety is not only about loving your parents, but also about loving everyone!
So I think everyone of us should live up to the virtues passed down to us by our ancestors. We can try our best to be good to our parents, such as being there for them when they feel lonely, helping them with housework, giving love and joy to them like they did to us when we were little babies and so on. These are all actions of the greatest kindness and warmth.
24. What is the meaning of filial piety for teenagers according to the article?
A. Doing nothing for their parents.
B. Trying to make parents happy.
C. Asking their parents for everything.
25. What did Confucius believe?
A. We couldn’t bring peace to the world.
B. We should only be good to our parents.
C. We should love our parents and other people.
26. What does the underlined word “remarkable” probably mean in Chinese in Paragraph 4?
A. 荒谬的 B. 过分的 C. 非凡的
27. What’s the main idea of this passage?
A. Filial piety is the first of the hundred virtues.
B. Students should help parents do housework.
C. The story of Tiying is the best example of filial piety.

“Turn left! Turn right!” In the information technology (IT) class, Zhang Ruixuan was controlling a robot to move around.
“This is part of our artificial intelligence (AI) courses,” said the 10th grader from Beijing 101 Middle School. The school provides AI classes to both junior and senior high school students. Apart from compulsory(必修的) courses that teach basic knowledge, there are also optional(选修的) courses if students want to learn more.
“This semester in our compulsory class, we have learned coding(编程) through a programming language called Python,” said Zhang. Using Python to code is a basic skill for training AI models. In recent years, Python has been tested in high school graduation exams in places like Beijing, Jiangsu and Anhui.
In fact, having AI education in schools has become a growing trend(趋势) in many places, with Zhejiang province being a typical example. In 2020, Zhejiang added AI education into textbooks from Grade 5 in primary school all the way to senior high. In the city of Wenzhou, the government is planning to build 1,000 AI experimental schools by 2025.
“With the development of technology, our textbooks have been changing all the time,” said Shang Yin, an IT teacher from Beijing 101 Middle School. “From typing to using Word and Excel, and then today’s coding and AI, the courses are keeping up with the times and teaching students necessary skills.” In the future, there will be more jobs where AI knowledge is required. Even in daily life, people may need to understand things like Chat GPT and the internet of things(物联网). AI education will become more and more important, Shang added.
28. How did the writer start the passage?
A. By drawing a conclusion(结论).
B. By describing a scene(场景).
C. By explaining the truth.
29. What do we know about the AI class at Beijing 101 Middle School?
A. It is an optional course.
B. It only teaches basic knowledge.
C. It teaches students to code with Python.
30. Students in Zhejiang province start to learn programming from _______.
A. junior high school B. senior high school C. primary school
31. Why is AI education becoming more and more important according to the passage?
A. Because AI is included in all high school graduation exams.
B. Because understanding AI is becoming a necessary skill.
C. Because AI is going to take over school education.
第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。每个选项仅使用一次。
As teachers, we often love to encourage our students to try new things at a young age. However, I think this is a huge mistake — 32. __________________.
Take myself as an example. I didn’t start playing ice hockey until my early 40s. My son is a huge sports fan and he often asked me to take him to watch games between the big teams. 33. __________________, and after a few months, I decided to give it a try.
To be honest, it is the hardest sport I’ve ever done. There was so much to learn. In addition to
mastering(掌握) skating skills, I also needed to learn how to pass and shoot. I saw a lot of players get on the ice and pick it up quickly and easily. 34. __________________. I was so terrible at skating, but I never thought about giving up. So I took a skating training course, then joined a hockey team and practiced hard in my free time. I finally mastered the skill, though it took me a really long time.
35. __________________. Being bad at hockey helps me to understand those students in my class who have difficulty in learning English. I’m not stupid — it just takes me longer to learn and practice a skill before I’m able to do it. Some students are like that too — 36. ________________.
It’s good to learn new things, whether they come easily to you or with more difficulty. Maybe you didn’t use the past year to improve yourself or to learn a new skill — but that’s OK! It won’t be late to start anything at any time.
A. Gradually, I fell in love with the sports, B. they might need to hear an explanation 3 to 4 times or need a few more days of practice. C. learning new things at any age is important and it can help us become better. D. But I was an exception(例外). E. Learning hockey has also helped me be a better teacher in some way. |
