Step I: Lead in
1.Present sme pictures abut sme basketball stars in NBA.Then ask: “Lk. Wh are these men in the picture?” Help the students answer: “They are basketball players. They play basketball very well.” Write these tw sentences n the blackbard.Then Circle the verbs with the clrful chalks. “This is Kbe. He is very tall. He lks very strng.” The teacher says. Write these sentences n the blackbard, t.
2.Let the students cmpare the sentences n the blackbard.Help students t find ut the differences. The teacher says: “Lk at these sentences. Pay attentin t the verbs. We use the verb “t be” in these three sentences while we use the verb “t d” in these nes.”
3.Present sme sentences n the screen: “Kbe plays basketball very well. Many students like him. They ften watch his games n TV. In my free time, I like watching TV t. But my friend desn’t like watching basketball games n TV, she likes reading. She ften reads strybks. Help the students cmprehend and explain when we talk abut sme things we ften d ,sme things that are always true, sme things that are true nw ,we use the simple present tense.
4.Help the students cmpare these sentences. Remind the students paying attentin t these verbs: When the subject is he/she /it, we need t add an “s” t the verb.
5.Help the students t read the table, let the students knw hw t add an “s” t the verb.Hw many ways are there t add an “s”? What are they? Emphasis sme ways that the students can make mistakes easily, such as:”以辅音字母+Y结尾的动词,去掉y,再加ies.”
Step II: Practice
1.Present sme verbs n the blackbard, ask the students t write their single frms:

2.Millie is writing abut herself and her classmates. Please help her cmplete the sentences in part A with the wrds in the bx. Then ask five students t read them ludly, the ther students check the answers.
3.Ask students t write five sentences t intrduce their/their habits, hbbies and abilities.
Step III Presentatin
1.Set up a real situatin fr the students, present sme negative questins and hw t ask and answer questins with the simple present tense. The teacher says: “Millie and Simn are talking abut their favrite sprts. Please read their cnversatin.”
Millie: I like O’Neil very much. He plays basketball very well.
Simn: Of curse. He lks very tall strng. D yu ften watch his games?
Millie: Yes, I d. What abut yu?
Simn: Oh, I dn’t like basketball. My father and I like ftball very much.
2.Lead the students t learn the table.
Step V Practice
Help the students finish the exercise in Part B. Then ask the students t wrk in pairs t ask and answer questins accrding t the infrmatin in the table. Such as:

Step VI Activities
1.Playing a game

1.Ask students t wrk in grups f fur t make a dialgue abut weekend activities, then write dwn the cnversatin in their ntebks.

It seems that mst f students can grasp the knwledge in this lessn well in class. But they usually make mistakes when they d exercises after class. S it is necessary t help them practice mre and pay attentin t their mistakes and d better next time.
