My grandmother was from a town in the main area of Michigan. I enjoyed staying with my grandparents as a young child.

Grandma was always using her hands for something exciting. She would make little sandwiches and we would have tea parties; she would plant flowers and carefully look after them. I remember the small thimble(顶针) she would use while sewing (缝) something.

Placing her thimble on her finger, she would remark,“I wouldn't want to sew without one.”

A few years ago, Grandma left this earth. How quickly our lives changed! We had just had tea together a couple of months earlier, on her 91st birthday. I missed her very much, especially on my birthday, as there was no usual card from Grandma. She had never forgotten my birthday!

One particular birthday when I was feeling a little low, something happened to make me feel like she was sharing that special day with me. I was looking at some colorful pillows that she had made, and suddenly I felt something small and hard inside one pillow.I moved the object to a joining and carefully opened the pillow. I was terrible astounded because a tiny silver thimble was in the pillow.

How happy I was to find something that had been a part of her! Not realizing it had fallen off her finger, she sewed it in my little pillow carelessly. I carefully put the thimble alongside the others I've collected over the years, where I could continue to see the gift God chose to expose to me.

What a good memory of a very special lady who somehow was delighted at sewing her thimble inside my pillow. I made some tea, using my best china, as Grandma always did,and enjoyed my tea and Grandma's thimble. I will never forget that birthday.

    B. The author loves and misses his grandma very much.

Last year, wildfire spread through Boulder, Colorado. It wasn't a hot summer day. It wasn't a forested neighborhood. It was winter in the suburbs(郊区). More than 1,000homes and buildings burned.

Large parts of the country that don't have wildfires are now at risk. They include nearly 80 million homes and buildings. That's what new data shows. Over the next 30 years the risk will only grow. The group First Street Foundation created a program called Fire Factor. People can go to a website to learn what their wildfire risk is in 2022 and in 2052.Right now, about 16% of Americans live in risky places."By 2052, that will go up to 21%.

California will likely suffer a lot from wildfire. That's partly because it is so big and partly because of its weather. So California will be on the top of the at-risk list. But nearly half of all at-risk Americans in 2052 will live in the southern half of the U. S. The South will be home to the largest number of people at high risk: 32 million. States like Texas, Florida,Oklahoma, and North and South Carolina will be“in the line of fire,”so to speak, and so will southwestern states like Arizona and New Mexico.

People are doing many things to make fire risk worse. They are moving to places trees that can burn. Climate change has increased heat and dryness. That means any spark(火花) at any time can cause a big fire.

As with many climate threats, wildfires put minorities(少数群体) at the greatest risk.By 2052, about 44% of all Native Americans will live in places at major risk from wildfire.Nearly I in 4 Hispanics will. People who don't speak English or own cars will have a harder time learning about and getting away from a fast-moving fire.

    61. What problem did Boulder have last year?

      A. Strange weather.                              B. Hug e loss of forests.

      C. Widespread wildfires.                         D. A rapid drop in populations.

    62. What does the new data show?

    A. About 16% of Americans are safe now.

    B. The risky areas of wildfire are increasing.

    C. The risk of wildfire will be lowered in 2052.

    D. Nearly 80 million homes are burnt down by wildfire.

    63. Which of the following will be the most dangerous in 2052?

      A. Florida.     B. South Carolina.      C. California.        D. New Mexico.

    64. What is paragraph 4 mainly about?

    A. Reasons why wildfire risk is worse.

    B. Dangers humans may face in the future.

    C. Actions taken by humans to prevent fire.

    D. Suggestions for self-protection in wildfire.

    65. How many Hispanics will live in risky places by 2052?

    A. About 16%.         B. About 21%.       C. About 25%.         D. About 44%.

Let children judge their own work . A child learning to talk does not learn by being corrected all the time: if corrected too much, he will stop talking . He notices a thousand times a day the difference between the language he uses and the language those around him use. Bit by bit he makes the necessary changes to make his language like other people's.In the same way, children learning to do all the other things without being taught, such as walking, running, climbing, riding a bicycle. They compare their own performances with those of more skilled people, and slowly make the needed changes.

But in school we never give a child a chance to find out his mistakes and correct them for himself. We do it all for him. We act as if we thought that he would never notice a mistake unless it was pointed out to him, or correct it unless he was made to. Let children help each other if they want--what this word says, what the answer is to that problem, whether this is a good way of saying or doing this or not

If it is a matter of right answer, as it may be in mathematics or science, give him the answer book . Let him correct his own paper. Why should we teachers waste time to such work? Our job should be to help the child when he tells us that he can't find the way to get the right answer. Let the children learn what all educated persons must some day learn, how to measure their own understanding, how to know what they know or do not know.

    76. According to the passage, how does a child learn to speak correctly?(No more than 15words)

    77. According to the writer, what should teachers do in school?(No more than 10 words)

    78. Please explain-the underlined phrase "bit by bit”'in English. (No more than3 words)
