Frank Holiday, a teacher at North Point High School, had a heart attack（心脏病发作）during a class in September. Luckily, the students and teachers helped save his life.
On September 30th, 2022, during a game of basketball, something went wrong with the teacher. “He threw the ball to us and then we turned around. We found he was just falling back and then fell on the ground,” said student Bob Smith.
Charlie Burch, who was having a class next door, was the first to respond（反应）. “All of a sudden I heard someone shouting and students running down the hall,” Burch said. “Some students ran in my room and said ‘Something happened to Mr. Holiday.’”
Amy Robinson, a CPR（心肺复苏）trainer, came second. “I started to use the AED（自动体外除颤器）,” she said. But she and the other teachers — all trained in CPR — knew it wasn’t good. “To be honest, Mr. Holiday did not look good,” Amy Robinson said. “There were no signs of life from him.”
However, the teachers and students didn’t give up. They followed Amy Robinson and tried their best to practice CPR on Holiday. It took them 21 minutes of continuous（连续的）CPR to save Holiday’s life.
Thanks to those fast-thinking students and persistent teachers, Holiday could finally tell his story. Holiday didn’t remember the week before or after his heart attack — just waking up in the hospital. “I’m thankful that so many people didn’t give up on me,” he said. He added that his doctors were also amazed by his story. “Even if it gets hard, don’t give up. I think that’s the lesson here,” Holiday said. “Just as I said before, some people kept my heart beating. Let’s put it that way.”

Jonathan, a turtle on the island of Saint Helena in the South Atlantic, turned 190 years old. This makes him the world’s oldest living land animal.
In fact, Jonathan is probably older than 190. In 1882, Sir William Grey-Wilson, governor（州长）of the island, got him as a gift. At that time, Jonathan was already an adult.
Since it takes more than 50 years for a turtle to become an adult, animal experts say Jonathan must have been born before 1832. So his birthday was set on December 4th, 1832.
In 1890, Sir Grey-Wilson became the governor of this island. He took Jonathan with him to live at the governor’s home, called Plantation House. Since then, over 30 other governors have come and gone from Plantation House. But Jonathan has stayed. And now he shares his home with three other turtles.
It is hard to understand how much the world has changed in the past 190 years. Jonathan was born before the Internet, computers, TVs, radios and telephones. He was born before global（全球）warming began and before plastic（塑料）was invented.
But Jonathan’s interests do not change. He loves sleeping and eating. He likes to warm himself by sleeping in the sun. When the weather gets cold, he digs himself into grass to keep warm.
Though Jonathan is still very active, he does have some health problems. He is blind and cannot smell, so people need to feed him by hand. But he can hear well. And he eats a lot. He eats a lot of vegetables and fruits, including cabbage and carrots, as well as apples and bananas.
Scientists have even studied Jonathan to get health reasons from his eating and cells（细胞）. His cells do not mutate（突变）the same way human cells do. Scientists also hope to find some secrets to fighting cancer（癌症）in humans.

Sagarika Sriram was 10 years old when she started reading newspaper stories. One story was about sharks. They had plastic in their stomachs. Sagarika knew she needed to do something.
