One imprtant virtue that is admired in nearly every culture is hnesty. Mst peple arund the wrld prefer that thers be truthful t them. Anther is curage — mst peple admire smene wh is brave. Mdesty is anther virtue that is cmmn. Smene wh is shameless is despised by many peple arund the wrld. Having said this, nt all virtues find their same expressin frm culture t culture. Fr example, what is knwn in English as a “white lie” — a lie which is harmless but necessary fr pliteness — may be defined differently frm culture t culture. Fr example, in sme cultures, a white lie might be quite narrwly defined, and peple may prefer hnesty even when it hurts. Cnversely, in ther cultures, lies that wuld be cnsidered unfrgivable elsewhere might be cnsidered relatively harmless. While many virtues appear universal and timeless, hw they are understd and applied is a different thing entirely.
