In the Qing Dynasty, wd drifting became bamb drifting because f bamb’s lwer price. Due t the skills it takes fr ne t master this act, bamb drifting was included in the natinal intangible cultural heritage list this year.
Yang Liu, a 24-year-ld inheritr f bamb drifting, learned it at 7. “Usually, the bamb under yur feet is abut 9 meters lng, and the bamb in yur hands is abut 5 meters. If the length r diameter f the bamb is nt lng enugh, it will nt flat. Keeping ur feet firmly psitined n the narrw bamb ple is the key, s we shuld fight against the current by cnstantly changing the angle. I lst my balance and fell in the water many times while practicing. Once I fell, I gave it anther try until I knew hw t handle the mst difficult part.” she said.
The lve fr the ancient skill keeps Yang ging. In the past 17 years, she has drifted all year rund, in winter cld and summer heat. As hanfu culture has been n the rise, Yang started wearing hanfu while perfrming, creating a mre beautiful feel. In 2020, Yang began t pst her vides n scial media. “I'm extremely prud t get respnses frm viewers that bamb drifting makes the line between what is pssible and impssible unclear. AiDa sits behind a desk, a paintbrush in her hand. She lks up at the persn psing fr her, and then back dwn as she applies anther drp f paint nt the canvas. A lifelike prtrait is taking shape. If yu didn't knw a rbt prduced it, this prtrait culd pass as the wrk f a human artist.
AiDa prduces prtraits f sitting subjects using a rbtic hand attached t her lifelike figure. She's als able t talk, giving detailed answers t questins abut her artistic prcess and attitudes twards technlgy. She even gave a TEDx talk titled “The Intersectin f Art and AI”in Oxfrd several years ag. AiDa's creatrs have als been experimenting with having her write and perfrm her wn petry. But hw are we t interpret AiDa's utput? Shuld we cnsider her paintings and petry riginal and creative? Are these wrks actually art?
What discussins abut AI and creativity ften verlk is the fact that creativity isn't an abslute quality that can be defined, measured and reprduced bjectively. When we describe an bject—fr instance, a child's drawing—as being creative, we prject ur wn assumptins abut culture nt it. Indeed, art never exists in islatin. It always needs smene t give it“art” status. And the criteria fr whether yu think smething is art are frmed by bth yur expectatins and brader cultural cnceptins.
If we extend this line f thinking t AI, it fllws that n AI applicatin r rbt can bjectively be “creative”. It is always we—humans—that decide whether wrks created by AI are art.
Sme may see rbtprduced paintings as smething cming frm creative cmputers, while thers may be skeptical, given the fact that rbts act n clear human instructins. In any case, attributin(归属) f creativity never depends n technical arrangement alne—n cmputer is bjectively creative. Rather, the attributin f cmputatinal creativity is largely inspired by cntexts f receptin. Thrugh particular scial infrmatin, sme peple are inspired t think f AI utput as art, systems as artists, and cmputers as creatrs. Therefre, as with any piece f art, yur appreciatin f AI utput ultimately depends n yur wn interpretatin.

    B. That art can take many frms.
    C. That creativity is clsely related t cultures.
    D. That creativity is ften measured subjectively.
    30. What idea des the authr want t cnvey in the last paragraph?
    A. Every cin has tw sides. B. Great minds think alike.
    C. Fur eyes see mre than tw. D. Beauty is in the eye f the behlder.
    31. What wuld be the best title fr the text?

    B. Will Peple Accept AI Artists?
    C. Can We Use AI t Create Prtraits?

In cnversatins with strangers, peple cmmnly tend t think they shuld speak less than half the cnversatin time t be likable. But we’ve discvered this idea is wrng. Fr example, a previus study randmly assigned ne in a pair t take n the rle f “speaker” and the ther t take n the rle f “listener. ” After engaging in 12-minute interactins, listeners liked speakers mre than speakers liked listeners because listeners felt mre similar t speakers than speakers did t listeners. This utcme suggests the reasn peple prefer thse wh speak up: Learning mre abut a new partner can make yu feel like yu have mre in cmmn with him r her.
Further, we assigned peple t speak fr up t 70% and even 90% f the time. The result shws it is nt an ideal strategy. Our research des nt suggest peple hld dwn a cnversatinal partner but rather that they feel cmfrtable speaking up mre than they usually might.
Research like urs can help peple gain a ‘mre reasnable understanding f scial interactins with new peple and becme mre cnfident abut hw t make a gd first impressin. It has the bvius benefit f allwing us t carefully cntrl speaking time. Hwever, it des nt reflect mre natural cnversatins. Future research shuld figure ut whether ur findings generalize t mre natural interactins.

    A. Speaking a little less is preferred.
    B. Speaking half the time is the best.
    C. Listeners are mre likable than speakers.
    D. Listeners fail t cntrl the cnversatins.
    33. Hw was the research carried ut?
    A. By analyzing speaking habits.
    B. By making cmparisns.
    C. By listing examples.
    D. By cllecting data.
    34. What is the disadvantage f the research?
    A. The cnversatin time is limited.
    B. Further study is hard t cntinue.
    C. The findings are less widely appliable.
    D. Interactins with strangers are missing.
    35. In which situatin can the research finding be applied?
