Instead, I wuld chse t read thrugh the reference bks related t my academic fields fr better grades. After I started graduate schl, extracurricular reading didn’t appeal t me at all but I spent mst f my time n campus digesting research papers and textbks and my mind culdn’t handle prcessing fact-filled nnfictin bks at hme, t. When children were alne in the rm in this research, they scred 87% n the test, but when the rbts jin in their scre drps t 75%. And f the wrng answers, 74% matched thse f the rbt.
Prfessr Belpaeme said, “Peple ften fllw the pinins f thers and we’ve knwn fr a lng time that it is hard t resist taking ver views and pinins f peple arund us. But as rbts will sn be fund in the hme and the wrkplace, we were wndering if peple wuld fllw rbts.”
“What ur results shw is that adults d nt fllw what the rbts are saying. But when we did the experiment with children, they did. Wrth nearly $1trillin, is the wrld’s sixth-mst-valuable cmpany. Its revenues (收入) have grwn by 56% in the past year, and its share price by mre than a quarter. Nearly 3billin peple use its prducts every mnth. Why did such a successful cmpany change its name as Meta?
The likely fficial reasn fr the rebranding is that the firm has utgrwn the scial netwrk that Mark Zuckerberg started 17 years ag in a Harvard drm. Tday it includes ther scial apps (Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger) and vide hardware (Oculus, Prtal). It has launched a digital wallet (Nvi) and may yet ffer a currency (Diem). A frmer emplyee revealed that was trying t cver up a drp in yung American users.
Mr Zuckerberg himself has been a reasn fr much f the criticism f , and f bssy tech firms mre generally. As the all-pwerful funder, he has a higher prfile than his ppsite numbers at TikTk, and ther scial netwrks. Nrmally, a brand facing a reputatinal crisis might dump its unppular CEO. But Mr Zuckerberg’s psitin is immvable, which may explain why he wuld want t dump the brand instead.
32. changed its name because________.
A. it wanted peple t assciate its name with universe
