1. Mike
Mike

W: Gd mrning, everyne. Tday let’s g n with ur talk abut British English and America English. Sme peple believe that American English and British English are very different, but in fact they are nt. Peple frm the tw cuntries have n difficulty understanding each ther. There are nly a few hundred wrds and expressins that are different, and mst f these are wrds having t d with daily life. Yu can see a few f them in the paper I gave yu last class. Fr example, Americans say “truck” but the British say “lrry” and anther famus example is “gas” which is used in the United States but in England peple say “petrl”. Althugh the number f these differences is quite small, smething cnfusingcan ccur smetimes. If an American says “We have t put the baby dwn”, a British persn may be quite shcked because in England, t “put dwn” means t kill, fr example, a sick dg is put dwn. In cntrast, in the United States t “put dwn a baby” simply means t put it t sleep. OK, that's all frm me tday. Yu are expected t find mre abut the differences after class.
