“We've caught it early,” explains Anthny Mffat, a retired astrphysicist, wh previusly bserved WR 124 using the Hubble Space Telescpe and was nt invlved in the recent JWST measurements. Mffat has studied Wlf-Rayet stars fr decades. “This is the yungest ne I knw f,” he says. The clrful clud in the image is nly a few thusand years ld. “Nw the nebula is hugging the star,” he says. Astrphysicists created the grand image by cmbining data frm tw f JWST's instruments, the Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) and the Mid-Infrared Instrument(MIRI).
