Kilimanjar Climb : a Rite f Passage (成人仪式) fr Father and Sn
Climbing Kilimanjar is a transfrmatinal experience fr many peple. The things that make the muntain hard are the very things that make it s pwerful. In the case f my sn Jsh and I, the walk up Kilimanjar prved a pwerful symbl f his transitin int manhd, and a great change in ur relatinship.
Day three n the muntain, Jsh was hit with massive headaches. He tld me every step felt like a nail driving int his head. And then, n the night we climbed the crater (火山口) rim, less than 40 minutes frm the summit, Jsh fell. I was walking ahead, and did nt even see it. He was s tired ut that he culd nt get up. He recalled ur guides, debating whether r nt they shuld take him straight dwn. Jsh snapped ut f it. He frced himself t his feet, shk the guides ff. He set his face twards the peak and just kept marching. Near the summit he caught up with me and we reached the peak tgether.
“I’ve never been in s much pain and s happy at the same time... he said, as we sat side by side n the frzen rck and lked dwn ver Africa. “Yu knw, in the past when we’d g n camping and rafting trips, yu guided and tk care f me thrugh it all. But n Kilimanjar it was different. Frm the bttm up, I climbed it. I never felt like a kid, even when 1 was in pain. Yu never acted like a parent.”
