Endangered plar bears are breeding (繁殖) with grizzly bears (灰熊), creating “pizzly” bears, which is being driven by climate change, scientists say.
As the wrld warms and Arctic sea ice thins, starving plar bears are being frced ever further suth, where they meet grizzlies, whse ranges are expanding nrthwards. And with that grwing cntact between the tw cme increasing hybrids (杂交种).
With characteristics that culd give the hybrids an advantage in warming nrthern habitats, sme scientists guess that they culd be here t stay. “Usually, hybrids aren't better suited t their envirnments than their parents, but these hybrids are able t search fr a brader range f fd surces, ” Larisa DeSantis, an assciate prfessr f bilgical sciences at Vanderbilt University, tld Live Science.
The rise f “pizzly” bears appears with plar bears' decline: their numbers are estimated t decrease by mre than 30% in the next 30 years. This sudden fall is linked partly t “pizzly” bears taking up plar bears' ranges, where they utcmpete them, but als t plar bears' highly specialized diets.
“Plar bears mainly cnsumed sft fds even during the Medieval Warm Perid, a previus perid f rapid warming,” DeSantis said, referring t fat meals such as seals. “Althugh all f these starving plar bears are trying t find alternative fd surces, like seabird eggs, it culd be a tipping pint fr their survival.” Actually, the calries they gain frm these surces d nt balance ut thse they burn frm searching fr them. This culd result in a habitat ready fr the hybrids t mve in and take ver, leading t a lss in bidiversity if plar bears are replaced.
“We're having massive impacts with climate change n species,” DeSantis said. “The plar bear is telling us hw bad things are. In sme sense, “pizzly” bears culd be a sad but necessary cmprmise given current warming trends.”
8.Why d plar bears mve further suth?
    A.T create hybrids.B.T expand territry.
    C.T relieve hunger.D.T cntact grizzlies.
9.What makes “pizzly” bears adapt t natural surrundings better than their parents?
    A.Brader habitats.B.Mre fd ptins.
    C.Climate preference.D.Imprved breeding ability.
10.What des the underlined phrase “a tipping pint” in paragraph 5 refer t?
    A.A rare chance.B.A critical stage.
    C.A psitive factr.D.A cnstant change.
11.What's the main idea f the text?

C.“Pizzly” bears are n the rise because f glbal warming.
D.“Pizzly” bears have replaced plar bears fr glbal warming.
Cral reefs (珊瑚礁) are amng the mst prductive ecsystems in the wrld. They’re als in serius danger——climate change and ther threats are killing them ff. But researchers have cme up with an inventin they think culd help the reefs: 3D-printed crals.
At the heart f reef ecsystems lies a symbisis (共生关系) between crals and algae (藻类). Crals use light and they’re phtsynthesizing (光合作用). The algae inside crals’ tissues (组织) make use f the light t generate energy, and that energy is then transferred t the cral animal hst. That animal hst, in return, transfers certain by-prducts t the algae, s they have a symbisis ging n.
This bnd between algae and crals is what makes reefs s incredibly prductive.Because f this symbisis, crals have evlved cmplex skeletal (骨骼的) and tissue structures fr cllecting sunlight which usually fades rapidly. Thrugh the skeletn, light is pumped and guided int deeper, therwise shaded areas.
Scientists cpied sme tricks that crals use. They imaged crals t analyze their skeletal and tissue makeup and then used a 3D biprinter t build a cmplicated structure that mimics real crals. The printed crals were made f bimaterials like cellulse (纤维素) and had algae planted in them.
The researchers replicated (复制) cral structure s well that the algae grew very quickly—— up t 100 times mre densely than they nrmally grw in the lab. The 3D-printed creatin culd be used as a medium t grw algae t prduce bienergy and als as a tl fr studying the cral-algae symbisis.
Of curse, there are many ther ways this technlgy can be further scaled and imprved t create smething like artificial crals in the future. S this is just the first step, where they created the animal hst, but they are nw cntinuing t further replicate this animal-algal symbisis and develping mdel systems. Eventually, it wuld be nice that this can have direct applicatins in cral reef restratin.
12.What is the functin f the algae inside crals’ tissues?
    A.T perfrm phtsynthesis.
B.T pump light int shaded areas.
C.T prduce energy needed by their hst.
    D.T build cmplex skeletal structures.
13.What d algae get in the symbitic relatinship with crals?
    A.Strnger tissues.B.Certain by-prducts.
    C.Bimaterials like cellulse.D.An animal hst.
    14.Scientists use 3D-printed cral structure t .
    A.make a study f the cral-algae symbisis
B.strengthen the bnd between algae and crals
C.change cean cnditins fr crals t survive
D.remve the harmful algae inside the tissues f crals
15.What is the best title f this passage?
A.Fantastic Cexistence f Crals and Algae
B.Crals Evlving Symbisis t Avid Extinctin
C.Cral Reefs: Prductive but Endangered Ecsystem
D.3D-Printed Technlgy Hpefully Saving Cral Reefs
