Easier said than dne, f curse. I didn’t realize that I wuld spend the next five years perfecting my design, a prcess (过程) that resulted in 5,127 different prttypes (样机).By the time I made my 15th prttype, my third child was brn. By 2,627, my wife and I were really cunting ur pennies. By 3,727, my wife was giving art lessns fr sme extra cash, and we were getting further and further int debt. These were tugh times, but each failure brught me clser t slving the prblem.
In the early 1980s, I started trying t get licensing agreements fr my technlgy. The reality was very different, hwever. The majr vacuum makers had built a business mdel with bags. N ne wuld license my idea, nt because it was a bad ne, but because it was bad fr business. But sn after, the cmpanies that I had talked with started making machines like mine. I had t fight legal battles n bth sides f the Atlantic t prtect the patents (专利权) n my vacuum cleaner.
I was still in financial difficulties until 1993,when my bank manager persnally persuaded Llyds Bank t lend me $1 millin. Then I was able t g int prductin. Within tw years, the Dysn vacuum cleaner became a best-seller in Britain.
Tday, I still accept risk and the ptential fr failure as part f the prcess. Nthing beats the excitement f inventin.

The liver (肝脏) cleans the bld and helps remve pisn frm the bdy. But liver cancer is the sixth mst cmmn cancer in the wrld, and nw researchers are develping a new frm f treatment. They say it reduces the chances f harming the patient.
This treatment invlves the use f natural, nn-pisnus chemicals frm plants. That is why the researchers call it a “green” methd fr fighting cancer.
Kattesh Katti is a prfessr f radilgy and physics at the University f Missuri’s Schl f Medicine. Fr mre than 10 years, he has studied the use f nantechnlgy (纳米技术) t fight cancer.
Nantechnlgy is the science f making things unimaginably small. Fr this study, Katti used extremely small bjects t target and destry cancer cells in the livers f mice and human cells in the labratry.
Kattesh Katti used very small particles (颗粒) f gld. The gld was cvered in a prtective material. He says the particles attract cancer cells. Thse cells are far mre affected by lwer levels f heat than healthy cells.
Once the particles travel t and cnnect with the cells, they are heated with a laser. That destrys the cancer cells, but the healthy nes arund them live.” The patient will be administered with these nan particles. Within a cuple f hurs, the patient will be treated with lasers, and then the patient can g hme. S, there is n radiactivity. There is n harmful waste. There is n bad effect n the patient.”
What that means is that the patient wuld nt have the same side effects that ne can have frm radiatin and chemtherapy (化疗).Chemtherapy drugs ften are pisnus. While they kill ff the cancer cells, they are als pisnus t the healthy cells and the patient can get very sick.
