While visiting an elementary schl library in 2016, 1 nticed there were hardly any science fictin bks fr readers under 12. This discvery prmpted me t spend the next five years researching the shrtage f science fictin bks fr children in this age grup.
I reached tw big cnclusins. First, I fund that adults ften think that kids can’t understand science fictin—but they can. Secnd, I fund that authrs and illustratrs (插画家) are nt depicting characters frm diverse backgrunds in children’s stries abut the future.
