Wilberfrce Tushemereirwe hlds up a genetically-mdified banana that tk millins f dllars and 20 years t make. It cntains a large amunt f prvitamin A, a substance that transfrms int vitamin A in the bdy. This "super banana" was created at Uganda's Natinal Agricultural Research Labratries fr the nblest f causes: t save the lives f thusands f children wh die in Uganda every year frm a lack f vitamin A.

In Uganda, ne f the wrld's prest cuntries, it remains high n the list f health risks, which makes it urgent t find ways t deal with the cnd山n.
The Ugandan gvernment has tried fr decades t slve the prblem — with limited success.
Distributin f vitamin A capsules, fr example, wrked well in urban areas but failed t reach thse mst in need in rural areas. Increasing cm and wheat flur and eatable ils with vitamin A prved mre effective. But thse fds are nt cnsumed in large enugh amunts t make a meaningful difference. Bananas, a main staple f the Ugandan diet, seemed t be a better ptin.
Yet, ne prblem still remains. Fred Wanyu, a Ugandan tribal leader and linguist, says his ancestrs cnsidered the banana "the mther f sciety". Farmers wrry that a new super banana will 邮 trt( 扭曲)Ugandan banana culture dramatically. Thugh he respects the ancestrs, Wanyu als believes that if a little piece f banana is added t a sister banana, develping int smething better, "I think we will live in a better wrld." "That's what many Ugandans wish fr as they struggle their way
ut f malnutritin and extreme pverty." "Culture is dynamic," Wanyu said. "Otherwise, we wuld cntinue writing n stnes."

Yang Xingyu, 23, tk a liking t fried insects the first time she ate them while turing Lijiang, Yunnan prvince. "I ate fried lcusts ( 蝗虫 )and silkwrm chrysalises ( 蚕蛹)A.lthugh they lked a little strange, they were crisp. Due t the prtein they prvide, I nw eat them fr nutritin," she said t China Daily.

Huang said that the glbal ppulatin is rising much faster than the availab 山 ty f fd. As such, develping
new fd surces — especially surces f prtein — is extremely urgent.
Insects are rich in prtein, vitamins and minerals, which are all gd fr human bdies. In additin t their nutritinal value, raising and eating insects is als friendly tward the envirnment and eclgical cnservatin. Cmpared with traditinal fd surces such as farm animals, insect farming needs less land and water fr prductin. Plus, insect farming releases less greenhuse gases. Fr example, pigs prduce 10 t 100 times mre greenhuse gases per kilgram than mealwrms.
Even s, Gu Jianjun, prfessr at Guizhu University, warns that nt all insects can be eaten, adding that sme are pisnus, and that sme peple may even be allergic t insect prtein. Knwing this, it wuld be best fr wuld-be eaters f insects t first learn abut the features f insects and make sure they are eatable befre eating them.
What makes Yang want t eat insects?
    Their taste.
    Their appearance.
    Their nutritinal value.
    Their cking methds.
What des the underlined wrd "imperative" in paragraph 3 prbably mean?
    A. general.B. ptential.C. reduced.D. pressing.
What is a benefit f raising insects cmpared with farm animals?
    It prvides mre jbs.
    It prduces less pllutin.
    It generates mre prfits .
It takes less space and time.
Which f the fllwing wuld Gu mst prbably agree with?
Only a few insects are eatable.
It is never wise t eat insects.
    Be cautius abut eating insects.
Eating insects des mre gd than harm.
